  1. Hi all. Beater with good spaniel available for the coming season( if there is one!) North Norfolk area but will travel further if possible. Stay safe everyone. kind regards. Barry
  2. Hi massive, long time no post. After Seeing an advert in my local paper seeking a gun on a small localish shoot I called up straight away only to of missed the place by 15minutes. Story of my life, but wished them well for the coming season and offered mine and my dogs services as beaters should they ever need them. Anyway, to cut along story, we were needed and have had a lovely time helping out on the shoot, met a really nice group of gentlemen and made to feel very welcome. On this shoot there is not a beaters day, but was kindly offered a place in the line by one of the guns. I declined his generous offer as in all honesty I was having a great time beating with my dog that I was more than happy. After the final drive on Saturday the shoot captain passed over the usual tip and then kindly offered that I can attend the roost shooting in Feb, this I gracefully accepted. He thanked me for my hard work over the season then dropped the lovely news that anytime I want to shoot the pigeons over the farms that we shoot over I can help myself and recommended who to talk to concerning local knowledge of the lines, best spots etc. Turns out to be a gun on the shoot who had expressed his appreciation of what I thought of as normal such as always offering to carry the quarry back to the carts etc. Anyway, another perm, great season and new acquaintances. Regards. Fatty
  3. Excellent SABS. Looking forward to you going shooting more than I am me. Regards. Fatty
  4. Get well soon Ryan. All part of life's rich tapestry, you will feel much better when your dad buys you a 'poorly present'. I'm sure dad will be very pleased I suggested this! Regards, Fatty
  5. Well done Maxie. Hope you have many more. Regards. Fatty
  6. She has served us with the upmost distinction. Held in the highest regard the world over, and if you haven't guessed I'm a royalist and proud of it. Regards. Fatty
  7. Having read and absorbed the opinions posted on this topic, I thought long and hard as to whether I should add mine to it. Good arrows lads! Regards. Fatty

    Rant.

Thing is gents, in all fairness I like the game, buts it's totally ruined now. Rugby every time now. When same son was younger I got roped up in looking after his team, (under 11's) Set the tone from the off with lads and their parents. No questioning the ref or linesmen. No negative comments from the sidelines etc etc or they will be removed from the field of play. Still see a lot of the lads and parents around and never had any issues with any of them, the reverse is true actually I consider myself lucky to know them. Cracking young men. The team were good and although we won the league that year the best thing was the team and their parents also won the fair play award. Voted for by all the other teams. Wouldn't want to be getting involved with it now.

Ok massive. Yesterday I had the most annoying experience that I thought I would share with you all and also an idea that would clearly solve such a thing happening again. I popped along to watch my son play football ( please bear in mind this is adult football ) and volunteered to run the line. From start to finish I was disgusted by the way some of the opposition were shouting to ALL officials as well each other, grown men swearing, rolling around like they've been shot. Now I'm not a shrinking violet and in all honesty just thought 'idiots' After 90 minutes the final whistle couldn't come quick enough. My idea, a league called half n half. Made up of both football and rugby teams. 40 minutes each half, first half rugby rules second half football rules. Every goal, try conversion and penalty only scores 1point. Ps only suggested rugby first half to stop any thoughts of the second half actually happening. Your thoughts please. Regards. Fatty
  10. Sounds great fella. I bet you won't be disappointed, never done it myself but know someone who did and they loved it. You'll get the green oval bug and will be selling your soul and jimny to get one. Have fun. Regards. Fatty
  11. Thanks for posting SABS. I await your next write up, looking forward to it. Regards. Fatty
  12. Spending time with your son is everything, Getting out in the countryside instead of in front of a computer will benefit his life greatly. Well done, many more happy hours for you both to share I wish you. Regards. Fatty
  13. Thanks for your kind words gents. Truth is, I love being out no matter how many I do or don't shoot. Don't think there is anything finer, no phone, no work, nothing but the true beauty of our wonderful countryside. It may not do my back any good but it's good for the soul. Regards. Fatty
  14. Evening pw massive. I have not been able to get out shooting much as work and life have been doing their upmost to stop me doing anything remotely fun, but managed to find 4 hours 'me time'. Arrived at the farm to find the combine and a lot of workers just leaving a field of wheat. Anyhow, with a few pigeons around I set up close to a known flight line and used my limited experience to set about making myself a hide and arranged the decoy pattern in the classic u shape. Only difference to usual was this all seemed to work. Finished my little session with 23 birds. Now I'm more than aware that the bag I am so proud of is small compared to some, but I'm truly chuffed to ******* with it. The amount I enjoyed it is truly addictive. If I can now only learn not to shoot like a muppet, I will really be boasting about the size of 'my sack' Regards. Fatty
