1. I'm sure you of all people could engineer a more elegant solution
2. Sorry to open an old thread. Been playing with some CB caps today. They don't feed from the magazine (or the one I designed and 3D printed) but just using an empty magazine as a SS adaptor works fine. However, they don't extract (Sako P94S) without pressing hard on the extractor claw with a screwdriver so they're an absolute pain. Haven't tried the CCI ones but they look like they'd feed better. It's a shame they're not as accurate as an FAC air rifle, though - I wonder why that is? Surely there's a place in the market for a super quiet, accurate 22LR round?
3. Labradors are born half trained. Cockers die half trained. I miss my boy every day. Good luck!
4. For moderators you need look no further than a SAK. For bipods, I've found the cheap Chinese ones to be as good as the more expensive ones, but I generally shoot from quad sticks so haven't fitted the bipod in a long while. For scope mounts, I'm told Sportsmatch are what you want. They're not massively expensive. I don't practice what I preach - all of mine are generic Chinese mounts and they seem to work fine.
5. What is a "crossover" barrel profile? Is it just a barrel that's slightly thicker than a standard barrel but not as thick as a varmint barrel?
6. It's what I would have done if they were available when I got my FAC. Have you gone for the same spec? I presume the bolts are interchangeable?
7. I have a Bushnell Legend HD on my HMR - it's superb
8. There's a nice Bushnell Elite Firefly on eBay for £125 at the moment. Remember, for a rimfire you don't need super low light optics as you can shoot your quarry at night with a lamp
9. It felt nicer than the CZ I tried a while back. They're both superbly accurate but I'd expect CZ to lose a lot of market share as the Tikka has a much nicer trigger. I'm thinking of selling a Finnfire Varmint if you're interested...
10. I can probably imagine without having to watch it on video. Would love to have that amount of space with safe backdrops to shoot at long distances
11. Some sharp shooting there. What kind of damage do crows do?
12. Friend of mine just bought a T1X (in 22LR) and we took it out last night alongside my P94S for some practice. He has some fancy tactical stock on it that was very grippy but looked like kitchen worktop. Astonishingly accurate - he does have a flash scope on it - but difficult to tell whether it was more accurate than mine. Bolt throw is longer as it's designed to cycle HMR and it didn't feel as smooth as the Sako, although whether that will improve with time, it's impossible to say. Both triggers were excellent. Sako magazines a lot smaller and sit flush (but without my custom bases, difficult to extract). I took 7 magazines with me so didn't need to reload any - although I did run out of ammo! Tikka magazine chunky and frankly ugly but very easy to remove (but he only has one). He has a Tikka CF in 6.5 Creedmoor so can swap stocks around. Nice rifle but not itching to change mine.
13. The one where The Beatles don't exist? Good film, I agree
14. On a serious note, if you get a scam text (I got another one today) forward it to "7726" - every network uses this for fraud fighting.
15. I'm a solicitor but I can't give you my services for free. PM me your bank details and the last 3 digits on the back of your bank card and we'll sort it (better hurry as I'm being investigated by HMRC for tax fraud according to the text I had last week 😀)
16. Ah, that explains it. Thank you so much.
17. I thought something to do with drainage too but the blades seem quite long and narrow
18. Saw this on Facebook and wondered if anyone might know what it is for? Mystery item
19. Sold mine too but I'd made a new cocking handle for it - as @AULD YINsays, it should just pull out but you might have to disassemble the rifle to get the new one in
20. Despite having had very poor sleep for the last few nights, partly due to the dog needing to go out at 1am and partly due to stress, I woke up this morning after having a very pleasant and erotic dream about Aisling Bea. I then checked my e-mail to find that I'd won £50 on the Premium Bonds. Later on I received a 'phone call from the company I'd ordered something from yesterday (a sewing machine servo motor) - they were very apologetic but said they were having to substitute it for a different model but as compensation they'd send it next day, rather than the economy postage I'd opted for. I then had to break my work on the barn roof to collect my daughter from a birthday party to find that they had a pick'n'mix so came home with a bag of that too! Sausages for supper...
21. I'm planning on making a large one of these outside, using cob made from clay dug up from the ground, rather than bought in.
22. Install Linux on it - it's really quite straightforward now
23. Friend of mine sent me a link to some 3D printed breech flags that were shaped like magazines, but it was an American site and the models they offered were limited. Since I have a 3D model of the P94S magazine already, it wasn't too difficult to design and print these: The bolt can't be closed with one in place and it would be pretty easy to design a lanyard hole in the bottom to attach a larger keyring flag to. They're printed in two halves and solvent welded together.
