Well it's been a few months now and have got still just the one perm but hold fac and sgc licences. Got my .17HMR which I love and am visiting a few farms and golf courses with some business cards but still no luck. Grrr

Cheers guys, I've got both FAC and SGC but yet to get my shotgun as funds didn't allow at the time. I can get a shotgun now but am limited to about £400 so second hand it is. Often it's hard to find out which field belongs to whom as there's often no ****** about on the farm yards lol. Kyska and Cranfield, thank you for your advice, I'm hoping that with both shotgun and rifle I can cover most problems and build a working rapport with my local landowners

I've spent the last two days trying to find permissions around the St Neots, South Cambridgeshire area with absolutely no luck. I take the "no sorry, we've already got someone" with a smile and thank them for their time but it's getting a bit depressing. I've got one permission but it's in North London which is just over an hours drive from me and with a one year old it's a little limiting. I've got a .17hmr and shoot mainly rabbits but would love to find someone to go shooting with nearer home. Is there anyone who lives near-ish me that also shoots rabbits/fox so I can go out a bit more and hopefully anyone who might need some help maintain their permissions? I appreciate that finding permissions are not easily come by and are cherished but it's getting very frustrating. Merry Christmas Adam

Dunno how I managed to post twice. Damn sausage thumbs! That's really helpful, thank you. I'll need to be careful re the shotgun on his land as he had stables so a lot of the fields have horses in. I'll keep a eye out for the shotguns...any advice re what type, make etc

Cheers folks for the warm welcome and advice. I had a massive stroke of luck today. Visited a farmer whose land my colleague used to shoot on. He's given me permission and doesn't mind the call from the FEO!! Whoohoo....just need the written permission and sort out the bits and pieces and I'm one step nearer starting a brilliant past time :-)

Hello, New to Pigeon watch and moved to St Neots in South Cambridgeshire four years ago. I used to target shoot .22lr back at school (quite a while ago). Having gone out with some mates who hold FACs a few times I want to get into vermin shooting and would like to get a .22lr or .17hmr. I need the land permission for the fac which I haven't yet got. It seems a bit of a chicken and egg situation. Most want to see an fac and insurance before they give permission but to get the fac I need the permission.... How have you managed to get the permission sorted for the application or am I better off getting an air rifle and getting permissions and then asking them if I can use them for an fac? Apologies for the probably boring and age old questions. I have trawled the permissions bit but it didn't cover getting the permission for the licence.
