  1. lol yes the question was can I have the rifle on my back but not in a slip on the public highway (which Borders my permission anyway). I ended up figuring it out for my own anyway about dumping my slip at the finish point. Cheers
  2. I'm off out on a bimble round my permission with my dogs and guaranteed if I leave the rife I'm going to see enough bucks to feed me for a year. There's a 2.4 mile track that runs in a loop through it but it doesn't quite join up at the start/stop and will involve me walking on the roadside for 300m. I'm proper out in the sticks and the majority of folk shoot (or at least won't be calling for armed cops to take out the camoed up gunman). Obviously if I'm on the road I'd be unloaded and bolt out. Cheers, Paddy
  3. I've a Tikka M595 and use Federal 100gr Vital-Shock and it really likes them.
  4. No probs and cheers Here are some better pics of the head with my finger for scale Not totally symmetrical but quite thick posts 😀
  5. I'm not too fussed about scoring it "properly" I was just wanting a word with someone well versed in the system to whether it's worth scoring once it's dried out properly etc. Without head and feet (hooves lol) it was about 30lbs. I think it may be a bit of a camera angle trick lol. Thanks, Paddy
  6. The funny thing is I've been up and down that hill so many times with my flag and dog beating that when the season starts again I'll be looking forward to the drive just for the memories of my first buck lol
  7. I'm off to the Scone Game Fair in a couple of weeks and I have a Buck head I'd like looked at to see if it's worth scoring properly but according to the BASC website here http://basc.org.uk/events/ You're not going to be there, which I find hard to believe lol. Here's the beast as shot on Saturday evening (my first buck!! 😄) Cheers, Paddy
  8. Cheers guys, Yes my mate (and the Head Keeper) are both in line for a good malt each lol. Currently the heads in the freezer and is getting cleaned at the weekend and I'm definitely mounting it too. I don't think I'll bother getting it scored as it's probably not a bronze medal head but I'll check out the skull once it's clean. He was a right healthy beast, only had 3 ticks on his undercarriage and weighed 30lbs without his head and legs.
  9. It was on a grouse moor west of Aberdeen. He was 1/2 way up a hill in a bit of a gully, that's how we got do close.
  10. Here are the images without the link. I'm having a phone fail!!! lol
  11. Over the weekend I got taken out to do a bit of stalking by a Keeper mate as a favour from the Head Keeper I beat for and managed to shoot this lovely looking Buck. Due to the lie of the land the shot was taken from only 48 yards and had to be a neck shot as he was stood facing me in low cover. Luckily I managed to keep calm enough till after the shot lol. It was also the first time I've used my .243 properly too. It was a top weekend all things considered!!
  12. Well...... "Blah blah blah.......land deemed suitable by the chief officer of police" So closed it is lol. I was hoping to do a bit of rabbiting on my uncles land so best I speak to my FEO then.
  13. Thanks guys. I'll go and re read it to see.
  14. I got my first FAC back in November and on it, it doesn't state I'm only allowed to shoot on the farm where my permission is. Does that mean it's an open certificate or have they just changed the way they write them? My pals first FAC stated the exact ground he was allowed to shoot on so I'm confused about mine. Thanks, Paddy
