  1. Selling my E700 based night vision rig. This was built by Dave (some bloke) from the night vision forum and it's very good indeed. You can search on the forum for all the reviews but the rig is described here https://####.com/viewtopic.php?t=16309. It has the built in 50mm IR torch so it's very neat and compact. It comes with a couple of different thickness collets and one specifically for MTC mamba along with the necessary scope mount. It won't come with batteries as I don't want to get involved with posting lithium batteries but they're widely available and it takes 3.£200 posted 1st class signed for.
  2. Lovely little scope for air rifle or .22 etc. I've owned it for a few years and it's been perfect, but I'm upgrading so this is for sale. I don't have the original box but it will be well packed for shipping. Comes with the original, and very good, end caps. Collection also possible in North Devon.£130 plus postage
  3. Yep, did that too, brilliant fun, got to jump out of helicopters, balloons, 727 airliner, hanging upside down from a biplane. So many fun times. Would still like a go in a fast jet at low level though
  4. Dream job, dream aircraft. If only I hadn't been colour blind and short sighted. Took me many years to finally get my PPL, I can only imagine what it must be like to throw one of those around the sky.
  5. Gpz 750, my first proper big bike, put 75k miles on it in a year as a despatch rider, after writing it off a month after I bought it. So many great memories. An ex-race FZR1000, astonishingly fast, cost me £1600, fitted me like I'd be born from it. Sold it when I moved to the US for a few years. God I loved that bike. Currently, an R1150gs sitting in the shed with 100k miles on it, battered and beaten but you couldn't imagine a better all round bike. Except perhaps for the r!150gs Adventure I picked up recently, 9 years old, 12k miles, mint and with Ohlins front and back. The last of the 1150's, I'll never sell it. Ride it almost every day, they can bury me with it.
  6. Thanks for all the answers. I've bought a couple of the big cheese traps as we have the mouse versions that have worked very effectively in house and garden. Will see how that gets on. Failing that, I'll get the air rifle out and the red lamp and sit out in the cold for a while.
  7. Hi all, my girlfriend and I moved to a small farm last year that we're gradually tidying up and renovating. One of our old barns that we're tidying up shows signs of rats getting in where they've chewed through boards at the base that used to be doors to let the birds that were being raised there out. We're replacing the boards with corrugated metal sheet as the rest of the barn is made of that. We've seen the odd rat about but not done anything about it yet and now it's time to fix the issue. I can take the .22 or air rifle out some evenings after putting down a cat food bait but I'm often away with work and am looking at getting a couple of traps that my girlfriend can use when I'm away. Fenn traps seem to be the thing but which size would you recommend? We don't want to use poison as we've a lot of owls round us and I was reading about the number of owls dying from eating poisoned rats. Would something like 8" drain pipe be a suitable tunnel to put the trap in and how long should the tunnel be? We've a bunch of old pipe around the place so making tunnels is easy. I plan to put one along either edge of the barn where the rats run, probably with cat food bait. Thanks for the advice.
  8. I'm about to be 49 in a couple of weeks, only started shooting this year, certainly hope there's life in this not-quite-old dog yet Just wish I'd had someone to introduce me to this 30 years ago.
  9. Been watching these since episode 1, they're fabulous, please tell your friend that they're the best stalking vids I've ever seen, really get a feel for the people who live this lifestyle.
  10. I've got one by equafleece, simple fleece coat but amazing how fast the dog dries when wearing it. Perfect after a wet and muddy romp over the hills or through the woods.
  11. given that my girlfriend is on all the big screens explaining how we made the films and I was part of the crew, I'm going to be a bit biased here If your daughters are interested in how the films were made and the skills involved then it's a great place to visit. It's very much a love letter to those who made the films, and seeing behind the scenes at how it was done is, for many, a glimpse of the 'magic' of films. Very few films are ever built on the scale that Potter was, as it was in production for 10 years. When you look at things like the blueprints, you start to see how detailed everything has to be, there is a blueprint for every building and set in the films just as there is for any building you make in real life. The sets are amazing in their detail and, yes, the sets really are exactly as there were built for filming, just moved into a new building from the old one. Allow a few hours for the tour, even if you're not into Harry Potter, I think you'll enjoy it just for a glimpse of how films are made.
  12. Hopefully not as silly a question as it might at first sound. As a novice shotgun shooter, I'm looking for ways to practice. Going for coaching is quite pricey so I can't do that as often as I'd like. I practice doing gun mounts each day when I'm home (I work away a lot). I have a clay launcher but practicing alone is a bit more awkward with that. With rifles I can just set up a target and shoot, but it's not so simple with a shotgun. I just wondered what people might do to develop their skills.
