  1. I havn't got mine yet but as the refex needs fitting to the gun, I will more than likly get screw on type like you have on a rimfire. I have been told that the 223 will sound like a rimfire with no moderator on. Every one I know that uses one has had them put on all their guns.
  2. I was once told that It was Ilegal to shoot most things with an auto, but every time I have found the relavent text it has always had an exception such as "except when the magazine is non removable and restricted to 2 rounds" type of thing. The only outright ban is on section 5 animals; and you not alowed to shoot those anyway.
  3. Sorry its a "local" joke for "local people"

    Dynamics

Not with an air rifle, but I observed this effect with 22 rf. The strange thing was they grouped to an inch at 50 yards. I am convinced that they could not have been spiraling but must have been an optical illusion.
  5. The 223 should be back from the gunsmiths soon. Now which moderator to put on? I am staggered at the price of a tube with baffles in. The saco rf that I have was about 20ish pounds but a cf copy was £150. once you go for the likes of the reflex its almost 200. The hushpower people do one for £98.50 (last year it was £77! ). Any one seen any thing cheaper?
  6. I don't know what its like round your parts (oo er misses) but the pigeons on our shoot seem to have been feeding on the large bands of setaside that a lot of farmers have gone for this year and have largley left the rape alone. No problem for me as the setaside is easier to decoy on. Any one else noticed this?
  7. I think the electronic plugs are around £4-500. I wil stick with by browning cans and spend the extra on a new gun 8-)
  8. "Will heaven be like Swansea" "he wants my petrol !"
  9. Are you a fellow fan of the league? Aqua vita!
  10. I had a day out before I had my own shoot. £100 all kit and a lot of work by the guide. I moved at midday for 4 birds (8 shots) later I shot 16 for about 24 shots. I would do the chepest version (dump you in field with your own kit) £40 (if I did not have a shoot) once or twice a year.
  11. I had my hearing damaged by a virus as a child. As I cannot aford to loos any more I aways use eletronic ear defenders, even in the hide or hedge walking. I know too many not so old folk who are as deaf as post from shooting, and never noticed it creeping up on them. After a while you dont notice the ear defenders apart from having warm ears
  12. MAJ try Justcartriges .com they are not far away from us.
  13. The clear pigeon should be fine, but dont skimp on the choke with 6's. if you go for open chokes (as I do) you will need 6.5 or 7 shot to keep the pattern going longer. Runners are either a near miss or have gone through a hole in your pattern. There is plenty of power in 6-7 shot for crows and rooks but I think the body of a crow is smaller than a pigeon. Thus you must make sure that you have a tighter pattern ie. more choke or more shot (smaller shot or bigger load).
  14. I would say that the Benelli range is the most reliable SA. But then I own one and am extreamly biased in their favor. If I could not have a Benelli I would stick to double shotguns. However there is one weekness: the bolt return spring is not stainless and if you get salt water in it it can rust. I have heard that wildefowlers in the states replace them with stainless springs.
  15. I know the Problem, My self inflating bum all started with a bread maker from asda but I had to pay £35.
  16. I'm glad sombody got some thing. saw 1 pigeon got rained on went back to car. When dark got out rf for the bunnies more rain. Just as bunnies came out a clap of thunder and lightning sent them all to ground. Got wet again. Came home dryed guns. Got up this morning with a cold. The children will go hungry this week :(
  17. Hi Cranfield, Im not that sure, :*) but have been told that both Franchi and Benelli are owned by Beretta. some parts (ie chokes) of the Benelli are the same as Beretta. (I use Beretta chokes in mine.)
  18. If you cant run to a benelli get a beretta (they are both barettas realy) you always get good reports from the two.
  19. You are not getting the pattern with 5's. Just afer xmas I had 2 very clean kills with 24g 7's (1/2 choke) from my 20.
  20. I've had a Benelli super centro for 2.5 years. I must have put 5000 factory carts through it never a jam. I also only clean the action after about 250 shots. As it has no gas ports o-rings etc. its as reliable (or more) than most doubles I've had.
