  1. A bit of a clue ! there are a lot of second hand 32" guns about.
  2. Should have left it for the R.S.P.C.A. to deal with !
  3. Except for flat batteries !
  4. I am on my second one and never managed to get stuck....................yet ! It was quite amusing on one occasion, picking my way between the stuck Rangies on a very muddy stubble field. A combination of low profile tyres and driver error, caused chaos and only 4 from 8 guns arrived at the next drive ! (I was one of the 4 and so was my passenger). The other vehicle that made it was a series 1 rag top, which had the elevenses on board.
  5. Bloody Hell, it must be well worn if all of these Guy's have owned it !
  6. I too had shoulder problems which ended in an operation. Although I am now back to shooting my Beretta 303 12 bore, I did start back with my Beretta 20 bore which weighs in at 6lbs. 3ozs. I had an Isis recoil pad fitted and can not praise them highly enough, I started with 21gram Elet CT's but worked my way up to 28 grams, all without recoil issues. I have settled on Hull 25 gram for all my game shooting, with the 20 bore.
  7. I have fitted Briley extended I/C chokes in both barrels of my Miroku and the barrel of my Beretta 303 auto. Using the same cartridges (various brands), the Briley chokes DO pattern better than the standard manufacturers chokes, on a pattern plate. A more even placement without any sizeable holes in the pattern. I did have a pellet count but they have been well lost during a house move. If using after market chokes gives you more confidence in your gun, then use them !
  8. You missed out the bit where you started all of them fried chicken shops !
  9. Judging by previous occurrences, GD would have been locked up too, had he got to his guns !
  10. Do they spot if the socks have been darned or not ?
  11. A FULL length stock to fit the Yildiz small framed over and under guns. I bought this for my Grandsons 28 bore Yildiz , so that I could use the gun, but it has never been used. I bought the stock from the Importers with some transit damage, but there are no cracks or splits, just scratched and 1 dent. I have stripped the stock, raised the dent, which now needs filling, and have started to re-oil the finish. It is very well figured wood, grade 3/4 and once fitted, would allow Dad (or Grandad) to use Juniors gun. I am led to believe it will fit the .410, 28 gauge and 20 guage model O/U guns. I have photographs (which do not do the stock justice) but seem unable to get them onto here. If you PM me with an Email address, I will send them. (Genuine buyers only, please) Once fitted to a gun the LOP would be around 14 3/4". The stock will need a pad or heel plate fitting. £100 ono + postage at cost.
  12. Do NOT overlook the need to have the relevant risk assessments and your requirement to have the necessary certificates, including Instructors qualification certificates (where applicable). I was involved with running a shooting ground some years ago and the Health and Safety bit was a minefield. Remember we now live in a 'Civil Lit' society.
  13. I too have a friend who is using Beretta mobil chokes in an Armsan BUT do be careful, he has found some mobil chokes that DID NOT fit. Do try before you buy !
  14. I have had a Yildiz 20 bore ejector and currently have a 28 bore non ejector model. Never had any problems and they have been used for Instruction so, ' many shots and many shooters '.
  15. If it only occurs with a particular brand of cartridge, try another make. It sometimes happens.
  16. I have been catching on traditional wets lately, Kate McLaren, Zulu, Clan Chief etc. also on a claret Hopper, allowed to just sink below surface film. No Daddies showing on the water just yet.
  17. Probably one of them snap caps ! I found a VERY nice Sage 10' 6# 3 piece in excellent condition, with bag and tube for an exceptionally good price on Help for Heroes stand.
  18. I have to agree with the glove routine, a pair of winter golf gloves for under £15. I have seen the blueing worn off by the handgaurd because they move under recoil.
  19. I cleaned up after some of those 'Country Folk' who had left all of their carp on the car park for a 'Townie' like myself to take home and dispose of !!
  20. WHY, WHY, WHY, do we KEEP teaching youngsters that the semi auto shotgun is a dangerous tool that should be avoided at all costs Far better to teach them that ALL guns are perfectly safe UNTIL someone picks them up ! When did anyone witness an accidental discharge from a gun in a gunrack, it ALWAYS occurs when someone has hold of the gun. This is why a sound grounding in MUZZLE AWARENESS is VITAL. Before anyone tries to tell me that the break open shotgun is far safer, in over 50 years of shooting, which includes running a shooting ground, I have NEVER witnessed an accident involving a semi auto. I HAVE witnessed several involving break open guns though. In the past month alone I have had occasion to speak to 2 groups of what appeared to be 'Game' shooters, regarding their lack of safety and muzzle awareness. These incidents occurred at 2 separate grounds and by 2 separate groups of shooters and BOTH involved O/U guns. Thankfully, I am not opposed to speaking to anyone that I see, behaving in a manner, from which an accident could occur. May I suggest that you arrange a lesson with a suitable Instructor, who should be recommended by someone that has used him, and not the shooting ground, also consider getting the lad on a suitable young shots or something similar, day. Remember that any single barrel gun is likely to recoil worse than an auto or double barrel gun, and some semi auto's will not cycle light loads. Good luck to the Lad, but remember his first lessons can be the start or FINISH, of his shooting career. Just to finalise, the most recent incident involved an experienced shooter putting a hole through their gunslip and into the ground, whilst putting in their ..................SNAP CAPS ??
  21. This is the THIRD incident of someone putting what they believed were SNAP CAPS into a gun and then pulling the damned trigger, only to discover that they had put in a LIVE round and NOT the snap cap. In one case it involved injury to other persons INSIDE the clubhouse. WHY do people see the need for using the bloody things and especially to just do the drive home and then clean the gun when they get there ? I have had a 30 plus years old Miroku that has NEVER seen a snap cap and neither has it needed new main springs. Hope this explains, without the need for pictures !
  22. Sorry to hear of your experience. I would avoid both the Instructor AND the ground, if they were aware of him. There are a lot of very good Instructors out there, shame he was not one of them.
  23. Perhaps he should have been asked if he would have accepted this behaviour, towards one of his Officers ?
