  1. Yes, he can. There is no offence of being in possession of shotgun ammo. without a Certificate. You can GIVE shotgun ammo to a none certificate holder, you just can't sell it to them. The shooting ground with a Sec. 11(6) in place can sell it to them. I omitted to say the person in possession of the ammunition MUST be over 18.
  2. So what is there to prevent them from taking the cartridges home ? There is no offence of being in possession of shotgun ammunition without a Certificate, only purchasing it.
  3. You end up with a cupboard full of guns that nobody wants. A bit like non steel proofed guns really 🙄
  4. Yes, I was EXACTLY the same over the Classic Doubles Trap he recently bought too ! I only wanted it for the stock though ! 😂 Excellent post Scully, brought back some very similar memories.
  5. I have used diesel countless times for releasing stuck chokes, it has never damaged the blueing on any of the guns that I have done. I remember a few years back, the same was said about WD40. I have never seen WD damage a guns finish either. It amazes me, the number of stuck chokes that occur on peoples guns. I have NEVER had a stuck choke in my guns, since Winchester started using Winchokes in the 1980's. I do NOT remove them each time I clean the gun either. However, I do put the choke key in, break the choke seal, then retighten it after EVERY clean.
  6. Just to add to all of this advice, try putting the choke key in a vice and turning the barrels. A lot more leverage this way. Do this after a couple of days standing in diesel oil.
  7. If you search on the Forum for 'stuck chokes' I think you will find it is well covered ! I would go and buy a couple of litres of diesel in readiness !
  8. Thank you for that. I had a Henry Atkin boxlock, many years ago.
  9. Would that have been pre Churchill, Atkin, Grant, & Lang ??
  10. Ah, thank you for that. I was unsure about the Winchoke/Invector interchangeability. So, Browning must have had Winchester do the first Invector chokes. I am sure the Winchester guns had the multi chokes before Browning.
  11. The Winchester was originally fitted with Winchokes and were one of the first to use 'multi chokes'. The Winchoke was an extended choke which came with a rather silly 1/2 circle choke key which could damage the choke, if it slipped. I am not sure, but I don't believe that the Winchoke will interchange with Invector chokes. Next came Classic Doubles, who used Invector chokes. My gun's barrels are stamped IN-C. I currently have 2 Briley INVECTOR flush chokes in the gun. It came with 5 chokes, all stamped CD SK, CD MOD etc., however there was a Browning standard Invector choke too. I have tried other Browning/Miroku Inv. chokes and they seem to be interchangeable. Browning then produced the INVECTOR PLUS, which is what Scully has. Hope this helps. Just to confuse the issue even more, there are some guns marked 'Classic game'. They are NOT related to Winchester or Classic Doubles and their chokes are different again 🙄
  12. Well it's time you stopped it then ! 😂
  13. I nearly did in 1981..........thankfully it bounced off my riot shield ! 🙂
  14. MURDER seems to come to a lot of their minds too ! Judging by the number of 'Children' committing murders now ?
  15. According to tonight's news, the latest craze is.........wait for it........AXE THROWING ! 🙄 Apparently its a 'pub game' 😂
  16. As emergency contact for our Grandkids school, we received a text from the School last Tuesday. This came with a link to a Web thing informing us that it was 'SAFER INTERNET DAY'. Er OK ! I contacted my Daughter, who contacted the School. It transpired that my 17 year old Grandson was using the school computer, and was partaking in a 'word association' quiz. I do not know what the question he was asked was, but his reply was 'Shotgun'. This started alarm bells ringing and flagged up RED apparently. My Daughter had to explain that my Grandson was actually a clay pigeon shooter, along with his older Brother and his Grandfather. It seems the shool were not too happy with this. My Daughter was reluctant to let me go to the school and explain the degree of responsibility that is attached to having a Shotgun Certificate today, and that ALL of my 6 Grandchildren fully understand that, Male and Female. They have all learned to shoot.
  17. I use a motor cycle plastic coated cable and a close shackle padlock. If in a hotel, I put it around something fixed. I also use it to secure my guncase in a vehicle, if I am going into services etc..
  18. My Son in Law, who has his own alarm installation business, fitted this for us. It has been in for over 12 months now and seems to do all that we need. Just a one off payment, no monthly fees. It pings my phone if it is activated.
  19. I had some flexicoy pigeon and duck decoys that went the same way. They had a hole in the base to take a wooden peg. I filled the decoy with boiling water and left them for a while. That softened the plastic sufficiently to retake its original shape.
  20. A Friend living in Thames Valley has waited over 12 months for his Certificate grant to materialise. Phone calls just got "It takes as long as it takes" responses.
  21. It looks like it could be a well worn AyA 'Cosmos' single barrel 12 bore.
  22. Both my Grandfather and Father died at 87...........I'm going to live it up for the next 8 years ! 😂
  23. THAT, is exactly what I did. My 'lump sum' was invested in 2001, after I retired. I started straight away with my 'works' pension. That was topped up from the interest on the investment. I did that for 9 years, until I got my state pension and my Wife got her state pension. After 20 years, I am mortgage free, totally debt free and my 'lump' has increased to around 10% more than our original investment. We have drawn off sufficient to buy a newish car every 5 years or so, plus annual holidays. If, like me, you are useless at choosing the right thing with money, get a GOOD financial advisor. It has certainly worked for me.
