  1. I was in exactly the same position as you a few years ago, I personally preferred the look of the silver pigeon so wanted to go for that but I had to decide between the Browning 525 as thats another fantastic gun. Beth thing I did was go and shoot and hold both of them, luckily the Beretta suited me more. I bought a second hand SP1 sporter that was only a few months old and it was like new but I did have to wait a long time to find the right one but worth the wait, so I would advise dont just go and buy the first one you see when you looking at second hand guns try and see a few and pick the best from them. Hope this helps regards Oli
  2. Thank for the replies guys sounds like its not a bad idea and for the price cant really go wrong something I will definitely consider I think. Many thanks Oli
  3. Looking at a scope for a .17 HMR and was just wondering if anyone had come across these designated reticles from Hawke? http://www.hawkeoptics.co.uk/vantage-4-12x40-rimfire-17-hmr.html Do we think they are a good idea as it obviously means you only need to work out the windage not the elevation so one less thing to think about. Look forward to your opinions Regards Oli
  4. I dont know why but i loved using it, might just be because its a .410
  5. Had a quick mooch around the permission tonight and the farmer said I could have a go with his .410 for the rabbits as ran out of air rifle pellets last time and just have not used the 12 gauge for a while He checked the barrel was clear and handed it over, I checked the chamber length and proof marks on the barrel and was all good to go. The gun is a Cooey model 84 single shot, beaten up condition but shoots lovely. Dont know if anyone else has one or knows much about them? The gun had not been fired in over 12 or so years and the carts were probably older but kept in the house so in good condition. Using 11 grams of No.6 carts was picking of rabbits out to about 35 yards or so nicely. Just had one nice rabbit today and though I would take a pic of him and the gun. Had 2 others later and 3 a few days ago with it, I am really loving it, just nice to have low recoil compared to the 12 gauge and weight I think it shoots a little high so will pattern it but is currently my favorite gun at the moment haha Anyway a few pics here, currently brought it home to try and polish it up a bit and give it a good clean. ATB Oli
  6. Still unsure guys but thanks anyway, got rid of all the carts now
  7. The 24g shells were "Clever olympic gold medal 2004" and the 28g were "Lyavale Express Power blue platcic wad" Maybe the pins were going through the primers then as they seemed to be old carts but didn't see any sines of that happening. Thanks Oli
  8. I got told the 30 is a little more easier to sell than the 32 so I went for that but if you really like the 32 then go for it.
  9. No i didnt im afraid, they did not look punctured though.
  10. Went clay shooting today with my 12 bore Beretta silver pigeon and had a few 24 gram plastic wad cartridges to use that a friend gave to me due to them not cycling his auto. For some odd reason after firing both barrels the gun would not open? Would push the lever across to break the gun and the gun would open about half an inch and then seize, tried closing it up again then repeating, had to pull it open with a fair bit of force? Then started on the 28 gram loads and it was good as gold didn't do that at all, bunged a few more 24's in and same problem so It was definitely the cartridges. Anyone have any ideas what could cause this on a fairly new O/U? Many thanks in return Oli
  11. From what I have just read It is legal to shoot over the footpath as it is on private land, but the public do have access to it, I can see the entry and exit of the path and I think signs would be a good idea, if anyone want to go through I can unload and allow them to. Might give BASC a ring just to check everything.
  12. Im unsure, there is one at one end definitely but unsure if it goes through, where would I stand if it is? I totally agree, good idea
