  2. As being an it guy for a decade or 3 I am intrigued on mr bates comment that the reporting system was so crud that it was no help finding errors and that certain giro transactions were appearing twice or a week later.

All this  in an age when you had to draw your pension or tax your car at the PO counter!

Yet the gaffers still turned a blind eye !

don’t think we have got to the bottom of the can of worms yet !

External appearances is good, working locks (no key) with minimal marks.
Inside could do with a refurb but it’s quite useable as it is.

Beretta blue plastic hard case for an over under shotgun. I picked this up secondhand intending to convert the interior to house a Beretta semi automatic, unfortunately I didn’t check the measurements and the overall length is a smidge too short to accommodate the gun. The case appears in good condition with some minor scuffs to the exterior. Not sure of the exact model this takes but may be of use to someone here, the case externally measures 825x250mm and looks to take barrels up to 30 inches. Please see photos, £25 posted to your door.

Cheesy beans are a bit of an institution within the Royal Engineers, all Sappers going through training know of the warming and cheap meal served at the Jackson club in Gibraltar barracks, the club is a charity, SASRA "the soldiers and sailors scripture readers association" and the cheesy beans are legendary.

That would be how it’s served in the Agriv8 house

if we are going royal cheese on toast rashers of crispy bacon round the plate and lots of spare toast to mop up with

then an evening blaming the flatulence on the dog !

  8. Released on American title on Netflix was released as Le Man 66 here-  what ever you call it it’s a really good film there are some bits that are true - but a lot is made up ! Mat Damon really good.

the line “round the wreken” makes me giggle as it’s a Black Country saying!

It’s a family favourite in the Agriv8 house

  9. I am starting to think that the PO built horizon to catch PO sub masters on the fiddle. Unfortunately they didn’t realise that the system and data could be messed with !

the latest revelations of transactions being made or altered by techies at Fujitsu/po has me wandering why they would need to ?

I am starting to wander if the were told to ensure the evidence was there as Fujitsu had an income / bonus for finding shortfalls in po tills.

    It's  terrible news mate .

It's quite a few yrs  since I lost jess and I'm  not ashamed to say I cried like a baby when she went (very unexpectedly) .

I vowed that I would not have another but going out for a walk about shoot just wasn't the same without a 4 legged companion.

Ffwd to September 2023 and I  caved in and got a working cocker pup PIP (born 13/7/23)

she's a handfull  but we love having around the house.

her training is coming along slowly as i had a big operation on my shoulder in November and recovery time is going to be around 12-16 months approximately 671037030_20231231_1131252.jpg.830ad2ff9e7301167ae0657c25515238.jpg

Thanks guys for the kind words.
It's good to know that even though I've had fairly heated disagreements with some of you in the past, when it comes to something like this I'm still among friends.

I must admit that even though he's gone I'm still haunted by the pain he must have endured towards the end, and can't help wishing I'd done some things differently.
If I'd taken up the suggestion to refer him for a scan a week earlier, or pushed the vet earlier and harder to put him on Tramadol, I might have saved him a few days of suffering.  Can't change anything now but the thought still hurts.

I do take some comfort from the fact his final decline wasn't a long drawn out affair - just a month or so ago he was enjoying himself far too much hump-shredding his bed 😛

Hindsight is a wonderful isn’t it . Don’t dwell on it you made the call when you had the facts he will be pain free in dog heaven !

  13. Thanks Vince - just seems odd that a lot of new cars are touch screen ( a Tesla for example) and they can fiddle away with the satnav

or if I was to revert back to my Tom Tom that may be ok ?

oh well I guess I will have to argue my case if I get pulled ! But much prefer to concentrate on the road and leave my phone concentrating on getting me to my destination

Thanks for taking the time Agriv8

As a former Magistrate I believe that if you 'use' that phone by touching it, whether or not it's in a holder, it is an offence.

The law is a blanket ban, it offers no exemptions for where it is or what it is being used for. Hands free means literally that hands free.

Using it as a sat nav makes no difference its still a mobile phone.

But you always have the right to argue the point in court if you get stopped.

But I think they are missing a trick using a lorry.  We live near a big junior school and the mums on the school runs are the world's worst for using their mobile phones while driving.

  14. 30 plus years in it has taught me never to underestimate switching it off.

second rule never underestimate telling users they will have to wait 20 minutes before I get back to them on an issue- you’d be surprised how many will actually follow the supplied instructions and fix there own issues and all sorted when I ring them back.
