  1. I'm looking for advice on the brand of pellet .177 which would give the best results when being used in the umarex colt peacemaker 71/2 barrel . I have been given a brand name but would appreciate a wider view to see the most favoured . Actual usage in said pistol would be of more interest than suggestions without having tried pellet and gun . Looking forward to seeing some good information and possibly learning something helpful to myself, me being new to this type of air pistols . Thanks in advance bb

  3. I had already arrived at the 71/2 "umarex colt peacemaker as a substitute for the navy colt before my first post . I handled one that a friend had and decided to have the blued version , not what I really wanted so I posted on here to get advice with the hope of achieving my aim . I should be receiving the 71/2 "colt peacemaker in a couple of weeks . Still looking for something similar i.e. black powder replica air pistol . Thanks again to those who helped . bb
  4. I thank each one of you for your replies . You must excuse my ignorance on air weapons , however it seems to me that I have been thinking that the pistol I'm looking to get was similar to the colt peacemaker i.e. a type of cartridge case loaded with a pellet then discharged via a co2 container which is secreted within the handle of the pistol . Is it possible to obtain a navy colt model 1851 of this co2 type . I will however stress that I am not in anyway at all interested in obtaining an illegal gun of any type at all. Maybe someone may know something of a possible pistol similar to what I'm after and powered by co2 . Thanks again bb
  5. Well no reply ! That's surprised me ,this pistol uses the brocock air cartridge system . I have a navy colt blank firing pistol , same make , I'm trying to make a pair and use as wall decoration as well as getting usage as an air pistol . Surely some airgunner has heard something about this western style model . Oh well lets hope for something turning up . thanks again . bb
  6. Im looking to getting a Pietta Air Pistol 1851 navy Colt .22 co2 , overall length approx. 13"ish .Wondering if anyone knows where these are available from and at what price ? Thanks in anticipation . baikiel boy
  7. Is it true that these meters have links to cancer ? If so why are companies and government doing their best to persuade people to have , making out that the user will be better of because they can see what they are using , I believe that you cannot be made to have one if you don't want to , Any thoughts on these meters . bb
  8. Hi All , The latest is they became trap shy , so I had to resort to poison in the end . The neighbour said that he still had poison down but it had stopped going . I loosely filled in the scrape under the gravel board and have been keeping an eye on it . Thanks for your input and interest shown . Regards bb
  9. At last, this morning 1 small young rat, approx 4" from nose to rump. Bad news to me as it means more of the same plus adults. Neighbour tells me he is poisoning because some has been taken he seems to think he don't need to put more down ,I have informed him that this is not so and he should keep putting it down until none is being taken .Don't think he wants to spend money . Any way progress is being made and other plans to be activated . I will let you know outcome . Regards bb
  10. And the latest is ,all baits still on but drying out . Will leave for rest of day and tonight then loosely block up scrape under gravel board tomorrow. Someone maybe poisoning or trapping , if scrape opens up again then I can try a new bait maybe the mini mars bars . My options on this are few its got to be traps such as the ones I'm using ,poison ,or catch alive which ive never had any luck with, glue pads never tried but don't like the idea some how . I shall get him ,her or them as I shall not give up . Shooting is definitely out of the question Regards bb
  11. The latest is ,bacon wired onto treadles .1 trap tripped off . Reset, checked today nothing tripped all baits still on . Will check again tomorrow, see whats happening and maybe try mini mars bars Regards bb
  12. Well set midday , peanut butter , Nutella , checked at 8am today ,half success all 4 traps bait taken .No bodies left for me, new tactic going to tie some bacon or something similar onto treadle ,think they liked the bait may try a smear onto bacon . time to try again .regards bb
  13. I thank all of those who have been realistic and helpful with their suggestions . If and when any are caught live they will be killed safely and humanely .I am having new thoughts along the lines of surrounding the scrape under the gravel board with 3 large size rat traps . In doing this it should force them to cross 1 trap baited or not of course I shall have to protect these from birds and cats . Ive sentfornew traps to use alongside 2 I already have should get these Thursday maybe . Regards bb
  14. Thank each of you for your input. I think there is about 40ft distance from scrape under gravel board to position of catch alive traps, was looking for something with maybe a strong scent that would be picked up by the rat or rats also the trick to be achieved is to draw the rat into the traps in order to trip the mechanisms any further thoughts on these points? Regards bb
