  1. In response to hedd-wyn I am not from north wales... only there for a week long story but have a bit of a bolt hole up that way so near Rhyl fairly often but from Nottingham...hanks for the offer though. jacob
  2. just to make things clear... They do lesson specific to air rifle shooting (as well as other types of shooting but air rifle is what I have got), the lessons are £25 for an hour including all the range fees, pellets and hire of equip (though would take my own equip and pellets as: that's what i'm used to, what I will be using in the future and in he case of the pellets what my rifle is zeroed to.) with regards to my abilities, on my albeit short range I can happily get ten pellets though a fairly small single hole (about £coin sized) from prone or from a rest but once I am standing and shooting off hand things go off a little bit (get 10 shots into the space slightly bigger than a golfball). I consider myself to be a safe shot and have spent a lot of time learning about safe shooting... As all of my shooting so far has been teaching myself and I may have developed some habits that are affecting my results adversly and want to iron them out. I'm going to join my local club as it is cheaper than I thought it was but as stated above hey are currently not taking members due to a move. cheers to all Jacob
  3. Cheers for the advice zetter. Just done some research the nearest club have just move to a different range and aren't currently taking on new members due to the move (but said that is just a temporary measure until they are settled in). Will contact the number and talk to them about joining. cheers again for the advice! Jacob
  4. That was another thought i'd had...there are some clubs nearby to me (and the range they use is literally just down the road). The range I can safely set up in my garden is starting to feel really short!(maximum 15 m).
  5. Hi all, I'm considering having a lesson or two at the north wales shooting school, I have all the basics of shooting air rifles down but wondered weather this might be worthwhile to get my accuracy down a bit better (particularly from standing). Was wondering if anyone had had lessons before and thought they were useful or if it would be just as good to book some time and keep doing self directed practice. What do people think?
  6. Hi all, Currently trying to look for a permission, tried door knocking, letters etc but no luck. In the mean time I thought I would offer my help on here: holding lamps, beating, extra gun on trip out, Perfect would be if someone replied and said that "yeah I need help sorting out my woodies!" but know that's unlikely to happen. I'm a 33 year old, responsible guy, I shoot with an air rifle. I will of course make sure I sort insurance out if anyone invites me out shooting with them. I work shifts so can be available at all sorts of different times...though I am going to be in north wales for the next 2 weeks but can arrange after that. I live in Nottingham but can travel within the E. Midlands Jacob
  7. Hello one and all...what a friendly bunch J
  8. Not made a sling but made a belt (sling with different ends?) And been messing about with parcord for years...takes a while to do but really easy once you get hang of it. Two bits of advice > make sure you leave enough cord to work with, it's really annoying to run out with two inches left to go! (for this weave it's about 3 times the length with a little extra for safety) >Try and use the same amount of tension all the way through otherwise it will look uneven. Good luck let us all see once its done
