  1. Hi Zimbo, I know of a shoot at Lupton, Kirkby Lonsdale (although might still be a bit of a drive), they have a website: http://www.crabtreeclayshoot.co.uk/ There is another near Penrith, the Penrith and District gun club: http://www.shootinguk.co.uk/clayground/280932/directory/penrith-and-district-gun-club-ltd This link may be useful also: http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/186507-penrith-and-district-gun-club/ I only know of these as my father shoots over that way regularly, if I hear of any more will update the thread. Hope this helps Pocko
  2. Oakley sun glasses come in loads of different sizes and shapes and fortunately make the cases for them too, try this link: http://uk.oakley.com/store/products?N=128+312+1341+2345 Some of the glasses made for cycling are similar size and shape to shooting glasses so might be worth a try. They can be a bit pricey but if you have spent a decent amount on glasses its definitely worth it and Oakley products and customer service is excellent.
  3. Not seen that shot spot before so one to keep in mind
  4. An easy hit or extra bead allows a shooter to see if the barrels are flat and has a decent mount. If the mount is not correct surely no matter how hard you look at target you will never hit it (you could be lucky I suppose), seeing too much of the rib your aiming too high and not seeing the bead aiming too low. As above Jimmy said he uses a temp fix to train with once a shooter is comfortable with with mounting the magnets or extra bead or easy hit would no longer be required. I bought the easy hit bead to help with an eye dominance issue as could not hit anything shooting with both eyes open as my left was taking over, I had to shoot with one eye shut and that made judging distance very hard. Using the new bead has increased my hit rate considerably Im much more confident shooting with both eyes open and it also has helped with my gun mount, If I can see the little red dot in my peripheral vision I know I'm good to go. I sound like I work for easy hit but I assure you I don't at £30 a go wish I had for something so simple to make (I must stress other eye dominance products are available!). Think it would be really useful if people posting comments about something they have not found useful to expand on why and add their experiences, this way users get a valuable informed opinion that people can use, after all thats what the forums are for. tab pock
  5. Hi Dominicrobed, totally agree you shouldn't be looking at the bead (should have added that in my previous post), the easy hit is just a bright red dot in my peripheral vision but actually its only my right eye seeing it, it worked for me I know its not for everyone, did you buy the easyhit to correct an eye dominance issue?
  6. I bought an easyhit bead (http://www.easyhit.co.uk/) to help with an eye dominance issue I have, as well as aiding with this I found that it really helped with my gun mount as if the gun is not mounted correctly you cannot see the end of the fibre optic bead. A colleague at work has a family member who is a shooting instructor and he advised the same and can be a good tool for mounting even if you don't have an eye dominance issue. The bonus with this kind of device is it sticks on the rib, no drilling required so if its no good you can take it off with no bother. atb
  7. I pick up my 99s .22 tomorrow can't wait to get my hands on it! When I was looking to buy a rifle I sifted through all the forums to find the best one for me and decided on the 99 in the end. I know its slightly off topic but I found the following useful in deciding calibre (it didn't say in your original post) and I found the following threads useful: http://www.airgunbbs.com/showthread.php?699437-How-good-is-the-177-hw99s-compared-to-the-22 http://www.airgunbbs.com/showthread.php?699770-The-HW99s-is-utterly-fab-says-a-bloke Hope this is useful, Pocko, P.S, sorry for quoting other forums threads guys!
  8. Hi Steve, Are you or your mate BASC members at all? If so might be worth giving their Deer Department a call: http://basc.org.uk/deer-management/ Hope you get it sorted,
  9. Last Sunday was my first visit to Stocks Farm at Puddington it was a glorious afternoon with a little bit of wind to make the clays a little more interesting. I did a round of 75 and used the cartridges they sold and had a belter of an afternoon and hit around 3/4 of the clays. Today I did 75 again and was hitting well under half and tbh feel a little deflated The weather was nearly spot on the same, the chokes were the same (1/4 and 1/2) the only varying factor was the cartridges, last week I shot using the cartridges the ground sold these were 28g 7.5 (I think) steel shot plastic wad, today I shot using Eley Firsts 28g 7.5 fibre wad. I know you should never blame your tools but is this possibly where I have gone wrong?? I always though carts were carts stop making excuses and get on with it, but I would say my shot placements were the same as last week etc etc. Should I have been choked differently? Or am I looking too much into this and just had an off day? Any feedback as always is appreciated,
  10. A friend of mine recently got one of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/BREATHABLE-HUNTING-SHOOTING-WATERPROOF-BRANDED/dp/B0085VOK6G/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1395431631&sr=8-2&keywords=tweed+jacket TBH its pretty decent and was thinking of getting one myself, 131 reviews all seem to say its good too and think they do matching cap, trousers and waistcoat. And for £70 if it gets damaged or dirty you don't mind so much.
  11. Totally agree evo, went to f&f for shooting jacket, had what I wanted in mind but the advice and service they gave was really helpful came away with a more suitable jacket and it was cheaper I was very grateful to them.
  12. Hi Dave, just had a quick look at the T&C's: http://www.magazinesdirect.com/mobile/corporate/terms-and-conditions/#wg Says you will receive them within 28 days of the first payment going out, its so frustrating waiting for stuff though!
  13. Went to Puddington for the first time yesterday, what a great little shoot, varied trap setup something for all abilities and a great crowd too, got a few good pointers which meant I hit a load of clays so was feeling chuffed to bits, AND its nearly on my doorstep!
  14. Hi mate, I use the Howard Leight Impact sports (£45 Amazon) and for the value they are superb, I know there was another thread around ear defenders posted it below: http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/273933-ear-defenders/ I did post a thread on here about the Howard Leight's around noise cut out but didn't really get a conclusive answer, but spoke to a couple of chaps at a shoot this weekend who had them and they said they behaved in the same way, so just put them at half volume. I have had experience with a pair of Deban's (priced around £95) which were good, but I borrowed a mates Peltor electronic defenders (think they are around the £150) and they were superb very comfy and great noise cancellation, but they are three times the price of the impact sports. If your doing coaching and using them quite a bit I would maybe think about a more expensive pair something like the Peltor's, Cheers,
