  1. Not really, you're the one trawling for a fight with flawed conjecture and irrelevant drivel..... Just because the threat of capitol punishment doesn't work for some, it will for a lot of others...as I have sad before, you will always get the hardcore criminals who either think 1) They won't ever get caught or 2) don't really don't care if they're caught or not as they have nothing truly to live for anyway. However, those who do enjoy life with a modicum of judgement, will think twice before undertaking capital crime as the punishment is too severe to comprehend!
  2. You'll never get 100% non murders due to the hardcore criminal element of society out there! But it will deter the less hardened criminal and thus reduce the amount of murders!
  3. No where near as many, and there was far more respect for Police and the "Law of the Land"!
  4. Sorry, but back then forensics weren't anywhere near as sophisticated as now, DNA as an example!! Now is the time to reintroduce the Death Penalty....look at crimes being committed now because criminals aren't deterred by very lenient sentences, the killing of the police man by gipsies by dragging him behind a quad bike at 60mph is a classic example......
  5. Good shooting there Jackoโ€ฆ..were they feeding on standing crop, or we're there patches they were coming into?!?
  6. Get him out with you and Warrick, he'd have some fine elocution lessons from the pair of you...I fondly see you as Waldorf and Statler and always get a good laugh....Good report, good to see you're as ever taking out novices and educating us still JDog......When you coming to our Wolds next?!?
  7. On my renewel, they questioned me as I hadn't bought much ammo for my .243, mainly because I was using .308, but I could show I had used the .243 occasionally so had need. As said above, they will argue if you're not buying ammo for the calibre in question, do you "have need".....
  8. It tells you in the paperwork notes who to make cheques payable to? TV does anyway....
  9. Any day out is a good day out, made all the better in J-Dogs illustrious company ๐Ÿ˜€
  10. As JDog says look at my post, I had two cracking days on it, they were coming in like scud missiles.....
  11. They still came in, it's movement that scares them off more than the static hide.....So long as you don't move until the last minute, they come in nicely...Mind you, I forgot my poles and the wind started to pick up, kept lifting it towards the end. Luckily the strings on the front were long enough to reach the strings on the bales to tie back to๐Ÿ˜
  12. Another lucky guy to be taken under your wing JDog๐Ÿ˜€
  13. Well that's the same pic I sent you Sunday when you said it was Spring rape?!? I did wonder as Simon said he'd Planted for silage.....
  14. Well, what a fortunate chap I am, was asked by farmer to look at a new piece of Land he has in the heart of the Cotswolds that he thinks is going to get hit hard. So Off I jolly well trundled and wow I wasn't disappointed. 6 Large fields, 4 planted with grass and clover and 2 the Spring Rape coming on nicely. As I pulled into the gate, 30 birds lifted to my left and easily another 40 to my right. So 2 days later I was back all geared up, 07;00 for an early start and I sat watching the lines for about 30 minutes picking our spots for the day. Large flocks were coming over 10/15 at a time and very frequently, best I've seen for a long time. I set up with my back to some hay bales and friend set up under a tree off to my left. He had the hot seat as they were using the tree for roosting and dropping in and out for feeding. I struggled to connect in the morning as was using a 12g Mossberg Hushpower, brute of a heavy gun and not really used it much, but a house was 100m away so thought the considerate approach best and not to invite complaints early in the morning! We finished the day with 32 picked up and 4 losses, it should have been at least 80/100, but like I say I was struggling for forst couple of hours with the Mossberg, and lack of practice from lockdown hasn't helped...that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it:) Again, a special fond mention to J-Dog in dispatches who first got me this permission some 6/7 years ago, it's yielded some fantastic shooting....Just don't rush home coz you aint getting it back ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿค ๐Ÿ˜‚
  15. Around me, we have a certain individual who has secured 10's of thousands of acres of land and pays a lot of money for it, then brings in clientele from abroad and charges them heaps to shoot it, so we keen locals can't get a look in....I've been door knocking months now, and still no joy.....
  16. Hi, I emailed him last year, unfortunately he doesn't cover my areain Oxfordshire, but in fairness to John he emailed me back within one or 2 days of my initial contact, and he has said he'll keep me on record if anything comes up. I found him to be a good reliable chap, so maybe like others have said, he's out and about and just busy....
  17. Any day out with JDog is a highly amusing, entertaining learning day:)
  18. Officially 01/02 is last day, but a lot of traditionalists will stop on 31/01 like J-Dog who point blank refuses to shoot 01/02 and I'm sure will advise you accordingly....:)
  19. Tried that, nil point!!โ€ฆ..I've spoken directly to farmers and gamekeepers, offered services, I have printed business cards I give out, all I get told is "already have somebody thanks", or already have enough beaters..... Whats more annoying is fields I drive past are sometimes littered with birds and deer, I point this out, and still to no avail...โ€ฆ.
  20. Well, after trapsing around West Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and knocking on just about every farm door with 80 mile radius, I can't get a look in or permission on pigeons let alone deer. I've come to the conclusion this sport is definitely about who you know and not what you know, as the only perm I have are a big thanks to a special kind hearted gent on here who introduced me to the farmer...โ€ฆ I can see why people get despondent......
  21. How the hell do you know all this stuff?? As soon as I learn something new off you and think my education is coming on, you blow us away with even more
