  1. Yes, I realized that, and I was very hesitant about putting it on my post, but I wanted to know whether anyone had an opinion about either club. Yes, both clubs do offer tuition, guidance and a buddy system, and a years probationary period, which is sensible, I am considering going on a sort of taster session with both clubs.
  2. Wilksy, same here, I have three labs but they are not trained to pick up game. Two of them are three years old, they could still be taught, but I am up at college doing the step before a farriery apprenticeship so I cannot train them till I get home, which is a few weeks, but they won't be trained well enough for the season start.
  3. Thank you fenboy, Yes, a semi-auto was going to be the next step for me. A silly question, would you start off trying to look the part with a pre-camouflaged semi, or get a bog standard synthetic and do it yourself?
  4. Hi guys, I am looking to join a wildfowling club either before the season starts or sometime next year. Now, I clay shoot, but unfortunately I have never had any experience on live game other than popping bunnies with an air rifle. So, I went to Highclere fair on Monday, and two of the local clubs to me tried to persuade me to join their club. Being fronted with this new found information has enthused to start looking for a suitable club, but i need a little advice on the gear needed. So, I have (I am kind of a shamed to say) a Revo Premium Game O/U 12g 3" chamber, I think steel proofed and i am thinking of getting a new gun! What gun is the best for Wildfowling? O/U, S/S or Semi Auto? And, do I go for a synthetic stock or risk it with a usual walnut stock? Also, best cartridges for a starter for Geese, ducks, and hopefully if I get some contacts pigeons? Good waders/warm weather gear? Also, not trying to make a fight, which is the better club? Langstone and District or Chichester? Thank you, Verminator343
  5. Hi guys, I am looking for some beating in the Warwick area. I've had a years experience with beating, so I am not green, but I'm new to the area and I don't know where things are. I am currently studying the Farriery Access Course at Moreton Morrell Campus, as I can't drive I will need a lift to and from the shoot. I have BASC insurance, and a shotgun certificate with Hampshire Constabulary. Please PM me if anyone can help, any advice is much appreciated. Thank you, Verminator
  6. Thanks guys. Very helpful. I hope to go shooting whilst I am up in Hereford. Verminator343
  7. Some where that doesn't leak, plenty of seats, bar, log burner, hot soup - lots of hot soup! One of my local shoots has a little open faced shack, it is missing cladding and has a leaky roof, absolutely freezing with high winds but its full of character. Verminator343
  8. Hi guys, In September, I am moving up to Holme Lacy area, Hereford to do a specialist college course. I would like to know about the surrounding clay shoots. I have had a look on the CPSA website and there are no sites listed. So doing a google search has come up with some, but I want to hear your opions on the shoots. As I am 16, I will not be able to bring my own gun, as in other posts; I have stated I have my own license and my own gun. Do these shoots offer gun hire? Otherwise, I will come back down to south Hampshire every time I want to shoot. Also, I will be looking for beating up in Hereford, so any contacts would be greatfully apreciated. Thanks guys, I am looking forward to going to Hereford, so the names of any shoots would top off my time up in Hereford. Happy easter! Verminator343
  9. Nice one! I wish I could have chosen to clay pigeon shooting!
  10. Hi guys, I am looking for some permission land in hamshire; suitable for shotguns or air rifles, or both. In return, I am willing to give a hand around your plot or farm on weekend or evenings. Not expecting much from this. Thanks. Verminator343
  11. Well, I had tuition today.... And it was better than I thought it would be. Thanks for the advise eveyone! Verminator343
  12. Shooting Turkish O/U. She's not too bad!

  13. Thanks Kermit. Willpoon; I am based in Waltham Chase near Winchester. I normaly go to Wallers Ash Clay Ground, Fareham CTC or Gosport and Fareham CTC (otherwise known as 'Lee-on-the-Solent Shoot'). I primarily shoot with my gun up, and have both eyes open so I can find and track the clay. Then when it comes to shoot, I close my left eye and have a perfect view down the ridge. What do you guys do? Verminator343
  14. Just starting out shooting.
