  1. HWV are awesome dogs, I have two of them and they are great company in everything I do, the oldest is nearly 12 months old and I have found him reasonably easy to train as long as you stick at it and has the makings of a good dog, I would agree that they are better suited to rough shooting and I enjoy walking around my permission with him even if we don't see alot
  2. Loki is the first HWV i have had but they are addictive such a super breed with lots of energy and fun to be with wouldn't be without one now.
  3. Hot dog sausages have a lot salt, we use a treat made from 100% baked fish skins and the dog loves them
  4. cocker boy thanks for telling me what's on my mind and what Will end up doing regardless and while your at it could you tell me the lottery numbers for this week, how dare you presume to tell me what I am going to do you don't even know me because if you did you would know that the heath and well-being of all the animals I own comes before anything else and as I have said repeatedly I have no problems with the restrictions on breeding as foremost my dogs would be pets/companions/workers my issue is not being able to choose the puppy I want.
  5. Also if you read the earlier posts I have no issue with the restriction as long as there is the opportunity to lift it later after health checks my gripe is with not be able to select my own puppy from those available
  6. For those seem to feel ok with having a go at me for choosing a bitch when my dog is only 8 months old I think you have the wrong end of the stick, I don't even know if I want to breed with them I have my first vizsla and have never had a dog like him awesome doesn't come close to discribing him, I have always had two dogs but lost my 14 year old boy a few weeks ago and so am looking for another, I would only consider having a litter in a couple of years if both animals were healthy and I thought that there puppies would be a credit to there breed so that someone else could get the same enjoyment from this wonderful breed as I am, if I don't end up having a litter with them then they will still be cherished as much as they are now until the end of their days
  7. I wouldn't even know where to start look abroad for a puppy
  8. I have no problem with being vetted and I totally agree with keeping the breed healthy and would happily buy a puppy with restrictions providing the breeder gave assurances that they would lift the restrictions upon proof of appropriate health checks in the future, my concern is driving a 8 hour round trip (which i have no problem with for the right dog) handing over a £200 deposit and not being able to reserve a puppy that I particularly like the look of and being "allocated" one and only finding out which one when I go to collect it
  9. one of those litters has breeding restrictions that the breeder has said she won't lift under any circumstances so that is out and one is cornwall which would mean visiting at the weekend and due to work commitments I can't do that for a few weeks and another is the litter I am going to see tomorrow with the breeder that wants to "allocate" puppies to people. I look on all sorts of websites daily looking for new litters to come up
  10. checked epupz and 2 of those litters are smooth coats and i'm looking for wirehaired and the other I have already looked at, the price these breeders are asking is about average and I have been up front about the reason for wanting a bitch I may not even want to breed with them but would like the option if I decide to and you can get the restrictions lifted at a later date after the dogs have had various health checks if the breeder agrees, it is mainly this bit about be allocated a puppy rather than choosing one that is putting me off but it does seem to be quite a common thing with the wirehaired variety as there are so few about whereas the smooth coats you have loads to choose from so it doesn't seem to happen suppose it is sellers market vs buyers market
  11. I have a dog of 8 months and am now looking for a bitch puppy to go with him, here's the problem there are not many litters around and when they do crop up there always seems to be endorsements on their pedigree to stop you breeding them, the second problem I'm having is the last 2 litters I've been to see both breeders have said that I can reserve a puppy with a deposit but they will not let you choose which puppy you want and that they will allocate puppies to what they perceive is the right people once they get to 8 weeks old and that is putting me off, these puppy's are not cheap £800-£1000 is this a common thing within the gundog group or just this breed.
  12. That's the type I have it is number 317 of 800
  13. Hi all I've just bought my first gun a Beretta 686E black action limited adition that is in mint condition and a thing of beauty my wife thinks i'm in love with it and believes i have gone mad (she might be right)
  14. West Mercia took 6 weeks to do the back ground checks and then handed it over to Warwickshire who contacted me arranged the visit and got my certificate within 10 days, the Warwickshire officer was a really nice guy and very helpful and I was quite happy with 7 1/2 weeks from start to finish as you read some horror stories on here of people waiting 6 months+
  15. I haven't been near game intentionally but while walking him he points at rabbits and pigeons and one occasion dived into some rape and put a pheasant up. I would like him to be a good all round gun dog he doesn't have to be a world beater but I would like him to be as good as he can
