  1. Thanks for all you posts, I have thought about what’s the point of keeping valuable items in the house and it seems a bit pointless in a situation like this! I also saved silver and gold coins for the kids that went and revaluated that idea and maybe securer just saving up extra to top up into there saving accounts instead. As for the alarm and dog it seems the most sensible idea as any extra deterants are handy. It has crossed my mind to wherever they may come back as like previously been commented that they do sell information on to get guns etc. I can only up the auntie on security and pray they don’t. I am a keen baseball player so hope I don’t have to have any midnight practice anytime in the future. Insurance loss asseser came today so will see how much I get my pants pulled down in due course....
  2. I’m really sorry to hear that pal, I bet it was scary to be in that situation and hope you can move on from it ok. ATB Iain
  3. Some great advise Westly, unfortunately I haven’t got a alarm but yes will certainly be getting one now! Any noise going off extra is a good deterrent and bring attention to people nearby. I do have driveway lights, 3 outside security lights and a dummy alarm box on the garage. Was going to get a dog next year too but my wife is expecting our 3rd child now so the dog idea will have to be put on hold unfortunately. 2 kids, baby in a pram and a Rhodesian I can’t see the problem?
  4. Thanks ips, yeah you can do without the hassle especially at xmas when it’s a dear month anyway, I’ve been trying to not let it bother me and think just wrong place wrong time, as if you dwell on it you just get angry and it’s wasted energy.
  5. Thanks tightchoke, main thing is they didn’t get them at least. She sounded like she was pretty firm on the demands, sometimes you just keep quite and nod your head without thinking!
  6. Hello all, Last week my house got broken into, luckily for the thieving tow rags no one was in. They ransacked my house turning it upside down inc kids bedrooms, stole pretty much everything of value except the tv’s and electronic gizmos which could be tracked. Unfortunately they took my safe which inside housed my shotgun cabinet keys. Obviously rang police etc, got doors secured, rang a master locksmith up to pick my gun cabinet and fit new locks. I rang the police firearms liaison officer, which she stated I had to give my guns to a friend who had a SGC and all my ammo for at least 6 months. I was polite and complied with her wishes as it made sense just in case they tried to re-break in too try and get the guns, even tho the locks had been changed. Just out of interest, has this happened to anyone else? Could I have objected? Is it a legal requirement to do as she stipulated? I just hope in 6 months I can get them back as it makes it a bit of a pain going out shooting especially wildfowling, luckily I have mates who I can borrow a gun for a flight when they go shooting with me or the last few months of the season would suck! Thanks for your time Iain
  7. Your kind of missing the point, PM's are not a get rich quick strategy, it's long term investment in the hope you will make a bit so that is like saying I'm going to buy at PS4 for £300 from cash converters and tell it them back for the same of course you are not there a business at the end of the day.
  8. Ive seen there website and it looks good, especially on the kilo bars a lot of silver stackers on you tube use them, I've ordered Perth mint 10oz bars from oz which come at a premium including delivery and import tax for £170 so your right to shop about they can fetch £250+ over here, same as Scottsdale stackers 6 months ago they were £155 on eBay delivered now there £250+ all day long. You just have to be savvy and do your research. And to digger that's great if you can save your scrap and make a few quid, there's always money to be made if your willing to do it!
  9. That's it, most people including myself must waste lots of money on everyday things and most end up in the bin, it's nice to see your stack slowly grow into something substantial, I try and avoid single coins as the premiums are quite high and save up more for bars where you tend to get more for your money.
  10. I collect silver coins and bars and have a few gold sovereigns too, do I think I'm going to make a lot in the future probably not. I save them for the kids as something extra to the savings when I turn up my toes, I used to spend at least £20 a week on sweets and sandwiches at the shop near work ever week knocked that on the head and use the money to buy more silver. In a year it all adds up extra! I would never put all my eggs in one basket for any way of making money be it shares, stocks precious metals etc. Plus I like shinny stuff! Just my two penny's worth
  11. Hi, this exactly happened to me today whilst out shooting, I came straight home and looked on here and bingo! Job done, fixed! So thank you all for the information given pigeon watch is great!!!!!!!!!
  12. Just a update, Birmingham proof house museum emailed me back, the proof marks date between 1904-1925 so it's older than I thought, 91 years old at least. He told me to email the shop to try and find a exact record/date it was proofed. So the plot thickens!!
  13. Hi, I was doing a bit more research and I saw the same, sad as it was going in the late 1800's, I've just sent some images to Birmingham proof museum trying to find the date, I got to 1924 but there's a few I cannot desipher so hopefully will find out if there kind enough to reply. I'd put some pics up but cannot work out how to do it on the iPad ( tried before but it wouldn't let me ). Thank you tho for the information tho.
  14. Thank you for that, they sound at a good price too!!
  15. Thanks I won't be putting steel through it after all the helpful advise and only be using the correct 65mm cartridges. I'm glad I checked on here first some people would take it as per say and could end up in tears or damage gun.
