  1. This is what i meant; sorry but the guy who filled a cylinder 5 years out of test is a bigger *** than the one using it? cheers KW
  2. I didnt call kdubya a ***. I dont abuse anyone on this site unless provoked. If he wanted to say any thing constructive then i`ll take it on board. The guy who filled my bottle runs a dive shop and fills a lot of bottles. He had taken the valve off it and checked it and said it looked fine, but said it needed to be officially checked. What do you want, a kidney?
  3. Well thats fine webber. I couldnt see the test stamp date myself and picked it up in good faith. I didnt know the timespan. Divers bottles are generally worn on peoples backs, get dunked in salt water, and whacked into rocks. Mine lives in a cupboard, gets filled a couple of times a year, and looks new. There is also nowhere to test locally. I would suspect most people who have a bottle to run an air rifle are also out of date. kdubya. Pull your trousers up and put the baby lotion away. Newcastle united are shirtlifting fags too.
  4. sorry but the guy who filled a cylinder 5 years out of test is a bigger *** than the one using it? cheers KW Are they. I dont generally come on here to dish out abuse, but if that floats your boat as the perfect little madam that you are, fine. Feel free to stuff your sanctimonious head back up your ****.
  5. I`ve got two plastic 10 round mags for a cz. Dont use them any more as i`ve traded the cz in for a sako.
  6. Just curious to know what you do if the police say you need a mentor, but you dont know anyone with the calibre. Do they appoint, or ask someone resonably close who you dont know? or do you need to try and find someone, or advertise in a gunshop say. I`m waiting for a variation with .223 on it. Nothings been said by the FEO and its just a case of waiting for it in the post now. Ive had .22 and HMR open conditions for a while now so i dont think i will have an unpleasant suprise. I shoot with my mate who is in the same situation as me having done everything in tandem since getting FAC`s. We had the odd situation of writing a competence report for each other to get open condition. Cheers Andy.
  7. It seems to get mentioned that its a shame you cant shoot out the top of the Discovery cos the sunroof doesnt open far enough. You can remove the glass from both types; skyview, and the landrover one. The opening mechanisms are held in retainers that unclip, lift the glass forward and the front fittings slip out of their slots, letting the glass come clear. Appologies if its already known. If not there is no charge for this information.
  8. Looks good Jon. I`ve got a Howa to collect when my variation is returned. The factory guarantees 1 1/2" at 100. Your results are an improvement over that.
  9. I used to fill mine at work, but the compressor and breathing apparatus have gone, so i went to a local guy who fills bottles and sells diving gear from home. Top guy, filled my bottle but said i`d need it inspected for the next time as it was 5 years out of date. pita living here as theres nowhere local.
  10. All the farms that i normally rely on for pigeon shooting over rape have planted cereals this year. What a difference a year makes; last year they were saying its the new earner to make biodiesel. This year none. I can sit on downland on one of my shoots and see big blocks of rape normally, over numerous farms. Nothing. A friend who farms dairy said theres no set aside, or fields just left fallow. Hes got something growing in all fields not put down to pasture or silage. Theres a fair bit of headland around the fields though.
  11. Fair play to you Joe if its worked for you. I`m more of a face to face type person and not good on the phone which might be why i`ve never had success with it.
  12. Given the circumstances i`d say the HMR would be on the money.
  13. Had a busy night saturday. Plenty of dogs, and a pollock, but hey a fish is a fish, and the action was constant.
  14. Waste of time. Comes under the title; Annoying callers. Easily got rid of by putting the phone down.
  15. For an opportune shot while out rabbiting the HMR has the potential within its limitations. Same as .22lr. Close range. Its not a dedicated fox gun and never will be. Use 20gn xtp`s for penetration and keep your shots sub 100yds and it will drop a fox no problem.
  16. Having survived a major head on due in no small part to my seatbelt i cant see why putting one on is not as natural as closing the door. I think that people who use mobiles while driving, especially while negotiating a roundabout one handed and nearly taking me off my bike are selfish ignorant tossers too. It might seem petty, but people die.
  17. I`ve fitted a few including the grind to fit Bisley adjustables. They rarely fit exactly and normally require some material to be removed. I`ve found the best way is to try and remove most of the excess while its not attached and keep offering it up. When its a close enough fit mask off the stock at the join and use a dremel or similar to fine fit. I normally expect to have to sort out the stock finish in some way at the join but if you`ve taken your time and not been ham fisted this should be minimal. Files of varying abrasiveness, Dremels, and emery cloths are better, but slower, than trying to cut lumps out with a knife. Oil finish stocks are easier to sort out afterwards than varnish.

    17hmr

Noel, try the 20gn xtp`s on foxes, they stay together and expand less explosively than 17gn, penetrating further. My cz has the same poi out to 100yds with 17gn and 20gn which is helpfull.
  19. A friend damaged his Beretta leaning it against his car. Inevitably it fell. Similar damage. A local gunsmith made an impressive repair on it, he used a special tool to lift the rib, and i think the small dent was filled with solder then re blacked. The marks can be found if you know the history and where to look but its otherwise invisible.
  20. You will still suffer ricochets with the .17HMR and as the muzzle velocity is much higher id imagine alot more of them too! Its the fact that .22 bullets are moving at a slow ish speed that makes them prone to ricochet. The frangible nature of the bullet and its speed makes ricochet a rarity with the HMR. I`ve only known ricochets with the 20gn hollowpoints, not the balistic tips and that was not often.

Shes got that covered. She cant drive. I`d find a beer monster to get wrecked with otherwise.

    Dull day ahead

Not only am i missing out on a morning at clays, i`m getting dressed up to spend a couple of hours in a church to then see a baby dunked in water. A further two hours at someones gaff bored out my skull celebrating said dunking. Its the start of the weddings/christening season. Why do blokes have to endure this. I said to the wife i`d sooner have food poisoning, but joy of joys i`m also using the wagon to provide transport so no doubt we`ll be there to the bitter end while some thoughtless individual who we are lifting keeps chatting. Only light at the end of the tunnel is an evenings fishing. Anyone similarly drinking themselves into a stupour thinking of the misery of the same kind of activity, or is there something alltogether far more interesting in the offing.

    British Gas

My brother was advised he needed a new boiler. It was just the diverter valve. Got one off the net, 80 quid and fitted it ourselves. I`m alergic to being ripped off and have through persistence worked out how to fix most things myself.
