  1. I hate painting so dont blame you buddy It wont look very new by the time you get down our lane..lots of deliveries and workmen have made a right old mess. Please make sure you bring passports as the Welsh border is getting stricter ion letting foreigners in lol Ed- is that a pard on top of the rifle mate? You and Grant have so many toys I lose track of whats what.
  2. Plasterers are in at the moment ...week 5 or 6 and another 1-2 weeks to go. 10 Tonnes of sand 150 + bags of lime 85 sheets of plasterboard, 30 bags of skim.....bloody decorating lol Need to get out tonight but absolutely knackered so will see how I feel...old age is setting in. Glad to see you and Grant are getting a good few. I reckon that once Grant gets the hang of taking the rifle in the new shiny truck there will be a few more on the deck My heart bleeds for you mate Get down here and bring your painting gear with you...plenty to do.
  3. Good effort gents Headed to another piece of ground where the farmer had met a fox coming across the yard Arrived and parked up in the middle of one of the fields on the track. Got out, got kit, quick check and a fox was crossing through the hedge into the field I was in. Got the tail gate on the truck down and set up on the roof. Nice 100 yard chest shot and a vixen was on the deck within 2 minutes of arriving. 2 1/2 hours later and nothing else seen so back home.
  4. Good effort all round boys. Managed another 3 on Saturday night. Dog fox in one of the pens burying a freshly killed chicken, 90 yard chest shot, cub across the valley at about 300 yards and then a vixen off the sticks at about 50 yards. Farmer is happy which is good but a few more to catch up with before I can give them a break. A fair few of the farms have cleared the crops or 3rd cut of silage so I need to get out a bit more . I watched 3 red kites at ours yesterday whilst the farmer next door was silaging, stunning birds.
  5. White out....lol...more like tissue storage
  6. You have always been special mate (In a window licking kind of way of course)
  7. LOL...your too busy working mate. Take that tower for a walk in daylight hours and Im sure you will spot one
  8. Well done mate Thank heavens foxes dont have a season lol
  9. Well done mate. When you get your renewal through maybe look at swapping the .22 for a .338 Lap Mag or something similar, that should be good for fox shooting up to 100 yards The only thing worse then shooting a fox with a .22lr is shooting it in the head...you would get loads more abuse lol. I for one object to shooting fluffy foxes...honest
  10. I didnt notice whether it was wearing a white sheet like Walshies fox I think the best bet is for all members of the shooting party to stop drinking before going out
  11. Still having trouble at the one chicken farm so headed out Sat night. Quick check around the pens first then headed out for a look around the various fields. Spotted one heading out of a wood in my general direction. The fox was making a line straight for the first pen so I got set up and waited until she was at about 100 yards and shot her in the forehead. Adult vixen so a good start to the night. After about 30 minutes and some more wandering I spotted another fox across the valley. at about 280-300 yards. There was no way to get any closer so I gave a load squeak to stop it and then dropped it. I left it where it was and intended to pick it up later. As I was about to go and clear up I spotted another fox close to where no 2 was. Jumped into the truck and headed out to a spot that I could shoot from. Parked up and set the rifle up on the back of the truck and waited for the fox to clear some cover and down no 3 went. Headed out this morning before work to pick them up and take the rangefinder to check the range on no 2 . 2 More cubs (both a good size) No 2 was a 305 yard shot and no 3 was 240 yards..must be getting luckier 7 cubs and a vixen in the last couple of weeks but still some more work to do.
  12. Frustrating lark this fox shooting Weather here is vile so no outings planned at the mo.
  13. very true mate. Managed to get another dog fox cub last night. Saw 4 or 5 but always in cover, in the wrong place, to far away, wrong side of the road....usual excuses Need to catch up with the adults but not surprisingly the cubs are always the ones stupid enough to present a shot. I ll rattle through the rest of them over the next couple of weeks and then hopefully the only chances I will get will be the trouble makers.
  14. Oops...sounds like exactly what happens to me every time a fox is less then 50 yards away
  15. At least there are some about for you mate. Reckon you should lay of that new manfume though Back out tomorrow night as the weather is set to behave....hopefully.
  16. Cheers Ed. Nearly finished replacing the skirting board...god knows why it has taken 18 months lol
  17. Back out Saturday night...wildlife everywhere...Every fox I saw was in a non shootable position...Every time I moved I should have stayed where I was and vice versa. I finally managed to shoot a cub at 1.30 ..headed back to the truck to hear the sound of dying chicken...got to the side of the pen and there was a fox happily eating a freshly killed chicken. Since the backstop was made of tin and expensive (chicken shed) I watched through the thermal until a shot presented itself...which it didnt. The fox disappeared and the heavens opened so I headed home just after 2.00.....try and get back out tonight...
  18. Back out last night after a call about dead chickens. I set up on the bank overlooking the pen in question...farmers dont help themselves sometimes and the pen was great for anything that wanted to hide...90% is covered in thistles about 3 foot tall. I could hear chickens being killed along the perimeter of the fence but couldnt see anything and the layout of the ground makes it very difficult. I had to sit and wait .....after a hour I gave up with that plan and went for a slow and steady wander. Managed to pick off a cub on another part of the farm before watching 2 adults fighting in a wood 400 + yards away on the other side of the road. No chance of getting anywhere near them so back over to the original spot. On the way there I spotted a fox in the bottom of another field..had to negotiate a 6 foot fence before dropping no 2 about 130 yards away. Final fox from the original spot made it 3. 2 cubs and 1 adult...I think. It was just after 1.00...one fox was up a steep bank and the other in a field full of calves....so I will have a word with the farmer and get him to go and get them and then take the pasture topper over the pen so I can see what the heck is going on....
  19. You need to tighten that group up bud I would reload but its the cost of the setup and the time that I dont have at the moment so just sticking with factory ammo for the time being. I ll have plenty of brass to keep me going if I do go down the home loading route at some point. Keep up the good work.
  20. Winchester varmint x rounds certainly do the trick. Nicely done Well done Grant. Nice to see you arent on holiday for once
  21. Unreal number mate thats for sure. I managed 40 on 1 perm a couple of years back which was a shed load more then I would expect. Keep up the good work. I am in double figures for the year which is good going considering the lack of time I have available
  22. The magic 100 is drawing near mate.
  23. Cubs and 58 grain BT .243 rounds dont mix very well lol
  24. Cheers Mark. Its always typical that the worst field is the one that the foxes want to be in I was lucky that there is a track that runs back to the farm and I shot 2 or the 3 on that. Glad you didnt do the rifle any damage when you dropped it.
