  1. Not at all - have you considered a change of opticians?? 🤣 as you say - you are already trading and it is water off a ducks back to you - and I ran a one man band for 17 years where my clients were HMRC, MOD, Criminal Justice amongst others This is the point - when dealing with HMRC you are guilty and have to move heaven and earth to prove your innocence
  2. May I just point you towards Mr Bates Vs The Post Office i may be wearing a tin foil hat (fur lined for winter) but I also think there are people who are wearing rose tinted glasses. Over the past few years I have learnt that where a government can do you over - they will
  3. Thoroughly enjoying the final - cheering for the lad from my hometown!! I used to play darts in the St Helens League - nowhere near this standard though!!
  4. @JohnfromUK but it will be unforetold consequences though. You will find that everything is reported - from everyone - and it will be pulled from multiple platforms - so everyone will NEED to be reported - to be amalgamated at HMRC - who won’t have details of the transactions and they won’t know that Bill sold a carbon fibre bike that he bought 3 years ago for £6k and has now sold it for £2k - and a demand will be sent to Bill - who is a higher rate tax payer for £800 plus the ubiquitous fine for evading tax….
  5. That is the old rules (the item you linked too is March 23) - that I said above they have had for a while. This is “rules” coming in now! sorry to say
  6. They have had the facility to crack down on people who are running a side hustle business for a few years now - this is (as the report I saw says) is anyone making over a thousand selling anything. I pray that I am corrected but for now I am wearing my fur lined tin foil hat!!
  7. I’ll let you give me a massage on Sunday 😂😂
  8. I have just found out that the Government has instructed HMRC to now take action against people using eBay, Vinted, Etsy etc. to tax them if they make over £1000 in sales - irrespective of whether they are selling their 2nd hand stuff or new stuff - and they will also have to register as Self Employed if they are. This will obviously apply to shooters at some point in the future as they will be into everything in the next couple of years. Sell a gun privately- they will see the money in your account - kicking off a tax investigation Part-ex a gun - find a tax demand in the post a couple of weeks later as it will need to be reported. God help you if you are a higher rate tax payer as well!! This is the start of “you will own nothing” as if you do want to own something you will be taxed heavily for it at both ends - the buying and the selling!!
  9. I have worked on 4 major government IT Contracts - CJSE, NPfIT, ECND and DHE - Only 2 were a success - with one actually mentioned in the HOC as how to deliver a successful IT contract - it was run as a startup without the weight of corporate processes etc...and it wasn't NPfIT - although at first I got the contract for designing the database infrastructure for NE-EM my wife wouldn't go to Leeds despite at the time we were looking to move North - instead, I later ended up on the NW-WM but not in a major role. But, what went on for the PO was absolutely criminal - in a way - none of my projects were financially involved for 3rd parties in that way.

I agree with @udderlyoffroad in the fact that the state can not have these powers. In Canada it was brought in for good intentions - except we all know that that is what paves the road to hell - and now it is being offered to people of various degrees of psychiatric conditions and also physical disabilities. Indeed - a former Canadian Paralympian was offered it when she put in for a stair-lift - aged in her forties.... and also homeless people!! But I also agree that people should have the choice - a lot of money and resources is being spent keeping people alive beyond their time as well for reasons beyond me. I, for example, if given the choice between going into a home and losing everything or being able to go peacefully in my sleep with help and leaving everything to my children, I know what I would chose.... To quote a famous comedian - "I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my dear old dad - not screaming in terror like his passengers" - to bring a bit of light to the thread
  17. There is a certain software tech founder that is very litigious over any allegations relating to this. Funnily enough he split from his wife when things started coming out - although they still use their names on their foundation. This is one of the guys who thinks that they are the savior of the world and our very own government seems to be in thrall of him from the meetings that they fawned all over him - almost like it was a head of state visit.
  18. The steepness of the downward trend??? Labour will be a cliff edge, whereas Conservatives is a slope you could chase cheese down
  19. Nerdrotic, Disparu, Heel, Drinker by any chance?? I tend to not watch the news anymore - I did see a little bit on Welsh News which was on about the trail bikes damaging grass - with the wording "now unable to collect CO2" or suchlike...Luckily I missed the telly with the remote - that could have been expensive
