  1. I've told her she can have first shot...
  2. These are my cartridges of choice for clays at present, I shall report back if they perform in the pump when I try them
  3. I've got a Beretta 686 Onyx too but last time I took it out we both got soaked and I spent 3 hours stripping, drying, cleaning and oiling it. I do love the Beretta but perhaps I'm a bit over precious with it. Anyhow the new acquisition solves that problem, if it's tipping down outside I can take the pump and not worry too much. I've always fancied a pump and at the asking price there was no way I was leaving it on the rack, can't wait to shoot it now. And won't cry if I ever drop it
  4. Good evening all, Please could I submit an application to join pump club? I nipped in Kirklees Guns on Saturday for some CO2, pellets and some other bits for the boy to plink with in the garden and came out with this too. SXP 26 inch barrel, 2+1 and is almost as new. Just need to come up with an idea of how to break the news to the wife...
  5. I have a poorly daughter this morning so won't be venturing out, try again next week
  6. Thanks for all your input, I went back for another nosey at the said AyA, the nice Lanber that was there had gone, but they also had an older Beretta 686 in stock. It was in better nick than the AyA, multi choked and I really liked the quality feel and look of the Beretta. It was a bit more cash than I wanted to shell out on my first shotgun but I've heard good things about Berettas and I really liked it. So I bought it. It's an older gun, 1994 vintage I think but looks like it's been looked after. Hoping to get down to Rishton with it in the morning, see how many clays I can miss...
  7. Cheers people, much appreciated. Trip out tomorrow I reckon.
  8. Is anyone going to Rishton tomorrow? I'm thinking of dipping a toe in the water if the weather is half decent. Do they tolerate novice shooters there? I'm new to shotguns but had rifles for years, I've had one lesson at Kelbrook. Does anyone know what the prices are as I can't find a website and do they sell cartridges? Cheers.
  9. Cheers for your input, I'll go and have another look. They had a nice Lanber in too but looking at threads on here they make you smell of wee? Forgive the numpty question but I know nowt about them, are they that bad? Am I likely to get the wee taken if I get a Lanber??
  10. 'owdoo all, as thread title states really, was noseying at a local dealers and saw quite a nice one of these for sale. I didn't know they did a yeoman O/U. My Grandad used to have a SxS yeoman that was tough as old boots, it was taken out on the tractor, got dropped, scratched and covered in **** regularly but never missed a beat. Are the O/U models similarly hard as nails? Thanks in advance for your expertise
  11. Cheers all, good to see lots of red rose folk here I'm in Great Harwood. I do love my FAC rifle shooting, I got my first taste in the ATC on Lee Enfield .22 No.8 but time constraints at the minute are just so limiting. The times I've managed a shoot this year I can count on one hand. I'm a member at BRPC which has excellent facilities, I just struggle getting there to shoot due to working shifts, family etc. I really enjoyed the dynamic nature of shotgun shooting when I tried it, really satisfying seeing a clay smash when you hit it right. If I had a nice O/U in a cabinet at home I could nip to the likes of Kelbrook on my days off in the week between school runs. FAC is going to take a back seat for the foreseeable but I will go back to it when the kids are big enough to either come with me or sort themselves out.
  12. Just a quick hello to the board from sunny Lancashire B) I've been shooting since I was a kid and I'm still no good at it... I'm looking to change my focus from target FAC shooting to more shotgun type stuff, had a do at clay busting last year and loved it, even though I was **** at it, lol. So I got a coterminous ticket at my last renewal and have joined up here, owdoo folks
