I first bought the New A5 black synthetic years back New 12g for Wildfowling it was the worse gun I ever had regarding cycling and trigger sticking I sold it and bought a Aya S/S double trigger 40 years old and the gun works top class Me personally I think some manufacturers have let there standards Drop

Dogger if you like the gun and I’m sure you do take it to a competent gun SMITH and get them to get the chokes out You could do more damage messing about with the chokes &barrels etc

Bring them if u can to a competent gunsmith not a gun dealer

No problem I use these for 100 bird DTL And there fine Just do would I normally don’t and read the instructions lol They come with 3 different sizes of inner plugs which suits to fit

£24 there not electronic but are fine for hearing protection

Yes I did for DTL Just don’t over boil them mine after I slowly moulded them into my Lugs are great for the price

If you open the 3/4 to 1/2 Standard steel fine if u like the Gun buy it My friend opened a older browning to 1/2 1/2 for ducks steel shot fine in it 👍

I use CZs but as the forum suggests you will not go wrong with sako@Tikkas I’d stay away from browning XBolts know of people who have had nothing but problems with the triggers and chamber rusting after so many shots

DO8 I was shooting a bit high on the compact sporting I think il have to use more open chokes Does miroku trap guns shoot 60/40 or 70/30 I’ve heard different opinions 👍👍

Agree westley but if you’re paying near £5 grand for a gun you would think multi chokes would come as standard I’ve put standard steel through 3/4 1/2 at the ducks with no effect on the barrels Years of shooting ducks I’ve never felt the need to use HP steel shot with standard steel doing the job In saying that I only shoot out to 30 yards in the vicinity of the decoys Try ensure clean kills

Your Right Scully I think even the new 2023 models are choked 1/2 1/2 from what I have seen Standard steel would be Fine but near £5grand for new gun you think HP Would come as standard 🤷‍♂️

Westly thanks for the great advice I done exactly what you just said not to do 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️I went to the sporting layout for a round of 50 with the trap gun I shot 26 lol First I was shooting low 2nd was trying to figure out the layout which birds were coming out of which traps But I have to say years of shooting DTL Sporting was a breath of fresh air I really enjoyed it and have joined the shooting ground The instructor realising the clays was a top guy and give me advice whole way through it very enjoyable 👍👍👍👍

Thank you Konor I actually took a drive down to the sporting layout for a look around at the traps and targets I was surprised after talking too a few sporting shooters that a right few off them use trap guns they just open there chokes more 👍 Thanks Gordon it’s just for a bit of fun so the mk38 trap will be getting a outing 👍

Robden it’s a new grade 1 it’s not adjustable but the comb being high is perfect for me I’m over 6ft 2 so my head sits perfectly with the beretta sporter all be it lovely gun I’m noticing when shooting it my head rolling over it a bit to get sight picture if that makes sense that’s why I’d be more comfortable using the trap for sporting thanks for reply 👍 Thanks centerpin Thanks lads Yous just answered my next question regarding choking for DTL I use 3/4 bottom barrel Full top barrel so I’m guessing for sporting open the chokes up a bit 👍👍

Thank you it’s just the trap gun fits like a glove I know they shoot 70/30 bit higher apparently than sporters so hopefully get down to the sport layout during the week

I’m sure this has been debated before I love shooting DTL with my new MK38 trap multichoke gun But recently I’ve been thinking of taking up sporting as another hobby My question being does anyone on the forum use a trap model for sporting I do have a silver pigeon one sporter but Compared to the mk38 it doesn’t compare for me in fit etc And if I can get away with it I’d rather just use the one gun for Both
