  1. Hello, if still for sale would you take £20 posted? Sorry to seem a bread head but anything over £20 i might as well buy new. Cheers Gene
  2. As anyone had a recent service/tune by JB on a R10? Mine was blueprinted in 2014. It must need a service now so had a look to see if he was still trading. see he was and that he is doing "upgrades" to past work. Anyone know what would be improved on from a 2014 blue print? Yes,i know i can call John, BUT he is normally in the machine shop and busy,he must get plagued by phone calls. plus he is a little deaf so a call is not always ideal.
  3. At the moment I have single size rifle cabinet,it is used for a scoped 22lr and to be fair its a bit cramped when putting the rifle away. I only intened having 1 rifle but after a while I realised the CZ 455 22lr bolt needs a 22lr semi,ruger10/22 and a likely .308 to go with it. So I would like to get a cabinet for 3 scoped rifles, when you see the cabs empty thery look big but when I got the single home! Can anyone give a size that's going house 3 rifles with out being huge,i don't want too much spare room to call for another rifle!
  4. I am getting a FAC and will be using 12lb air rifles and 22lr,this post on scopes was solely to do with scope choice on a 22lr. see a lot of zeiss and leupold on rifles with no parallax adjustment a wanted to know the workings of them
  5. Awaiting FAC so looking at scopes for 22lr Would like to jump up a bit on quality and these tend to have no parallax adjustment I do not know if the "fixed" type say leupold vx2 OR redfield revolution will suit my usage mainly 30 and 50 yds ,100yds at occasions Don't understand how the above type of scope can be in focus at different distances Sorry for my ignorance but I am out my depth on the optic side of the hobby/sport
  6. I am new to shooting with 2 air rifles to date,a springer and pcp When I bought the rifles I was asked what would I be using for as regards to the scope choice. both scopes are side parallax adjustable,i was shown some with front adjustment but preferred the prior I understand the parallax adjustment as I shoot targets at 30 and 50 yards so far and can see how it needs adjustment for each What I do not understand is scopes with no parallax adjustment When would you choose that over adjustable? I will be shooting targets at 30,50 and 100 yds, could I use a fixed paralallax scope I ask be cause I wanted to get a better quality scope and looked at leapolds, these seem to be fixed would really like to understand the workings/usage of fixed parallax types OR the type where no numbered lens ring or turret is present, incase I have got the fixed parallax term wrong
  7. Just about to get my first 22lr rifle,CZ 455 varmint Up till now I have only used air rifles with scopes to suit My use will be the same, target shooting 30yds to 100yds,no full blown comps I have only used MTC scopes to date, Mamba lite and Viper ,looked through a Hawke then a MTC and went MTC,the Hawke might of been a lower range, just liked the MTC,felt and looked well made. I would like to try a different brand for the 22lr but really have no idea what to go for and many shops only seem to carry the major brands,Hawke,MTC and Nikko I would like to go apx 3-14/16 x40/44 and a 1 inch tube,i have been warned that room is tight with the bolt action Can anyone give suggestions, I am looking to pay £ 300-350
  8. I like the idea of the box method,my thought was more open. Can I ask what thickness of sand/soil is needed to stop a pellet.. ALso what thickness of carpet. I would use hessian back, dont like the felt back stuff:)
  9. I intend to use a. 177 rifle in my garden to practice at targets.i would say this is a minimum 25y. In the area available I can set aside a 3x3 metre section to make a backstop.this is from ground height.behind this area is a wooden fence adjoinning heighbour. I have no idea on laws or requirements.i realise a steel plate would be ideal but sourcing that would be hard.my next thought was stacked sand bags and in the central area where target would be a smaller plate, perhaps 2foot sq. Although I would hope the target pellet catcher would be enough.but I suppose a plate would be ok for a wayward shhot. Any advise would be great especially on law ect. Thanks
  10. I went out with intentions of gertting a 3-9x40/44 scope. At present I am do plinking and targets at 25y indoor,45y outdoor in future. The guy in the shop said I should go with a 10x40,he is proberly right and knows far more than me but he did not explain very clearly why. Can anyone explain why one is used over the other?
  11. I am new to shooting and about to buy a scope.at the present I am shooting indoor targets at 10 and 25 yards, and plinking from 8 to 25yards. I do intend to shoot at a outdoor club up to 45 yards soon. The scope on the rifle I have been using had the normal cross hairs and I did find it covered the target area somewhat.i have seen the reticles types available in the hawke catalogue and some of the mildot typez look to be coplicated,i realise I will learn, but I wonder if all that detail will put me off. What would you guys suggest with the above shooting I do.i will not be hunting or doing comps.
  12. I am new to airgunning.I have been going to a gallery for several weeks and decided I need my own rifle so I can get away from using theirs and struggle with the generAl setup for all users.the range is indoor and 25y max.i can go up to 45y out door in the summer. I have been struggling on rifle choice, mainly AA 510 or HW100s.pretty sure I will go for the HW,just wish thd walnut was like the AA. I havd been told by the gallery 3-9x30 is ideal and illumination not required as I do not hunt but others seem to havd x-x-40. I know the shop will help but I would like to have some idea of what I need also cost.in mags they seem to start 45 quid.i think I can go to apx 200. Any advice would be great
