I've got these if you want them, never been used, a bit coarse but yours if they are any use to you. Pm your address and I will post them to you
  3. Hi, be sure to go to the Menin Gate for the last post, it's done every night at 8pm but get there at least half an hour before, earlier at weekends. If you want a guided tour there are some shops just down from the Menin Gate where you can book them. I've been a few times & never bothered preferring to go wherever we wanted, a great guide book is Major and Mrs Holt's guide to the Ypres Salient. If you can take a cycle (or hire one there), loads of routes for cycling (or walking) that use the old WW1 train supply routes, you will see far more than if you drive around. Lots of small cemeteries from early in the war where they would bury the dead near where they fell. Tyne Cott cemetery and memorial worth a visit, while there go to Paschendale. Messine Ridge is not very far and is where they detonated huge mines, the cratered landscape is plain to see still. A must in my book is to visit Poperinge just a few miles from Ypres, it's where the allies would rest after stints at the front. There are loads of original buildings still there (Ypres though looking old was destroyed during the war & was completely rebuilt), one very moving place is the old prison & small execution square where shell shocked soldiers where shot for cowardice, it's a museum of sorts, very sad but we'll worth going. The Cloth Hall in the centre of Ypres also contains In Flanders Fields, an excellent museum, allow a few hours to take it all in though. At night go into the main square for some very good drink and food, you must have the Flemish Stew, just about all the restaurants do it, have it with Belgian Fries and crusty bread! one of the best places we found was right next to the Cloth Hall in the corner, think it was called Den Anker, not 100% but it was right in the corner next to Cloth Hall. Hope this is of some use. It wasn't Den Anker, although we did go in there & it's good, the one in the corner is In't Klein Stadhuis!!!
  4. I paid less than £60 Inc postage on eBay for my Altberg Defenders, brand new in box with tags, spare laces & different thickness spacers (insoles), approx 1 year ago, absolute bargain though I've never seen them that cheap again otherwise I would get another pair!
  5. Agree. In the past had Karrimor & Hi Tec boots for dog walking & they all fell apart after 6 months or so, bought a used ( though they were as new) pair of fabric waterproof Le Chameau boots off marsh man on here & they have been amazing, comfy as slippers & still waterproof & going strong. Having said that for my serious walking in the peaks I have a pair of leather Altbergs, incredibly well made & comfy, took some wearing in but highly recommended
  6. Agreed, thoroughly enjoyed it when I watched it, would have had this myself if it hadn't gone so quickly!
  7. Just started using terrarium after cartoon hd stopped working
  8. Bought the wife a year old Zafira Tourer to replace her 13 year old original Zafira, price of the Tourer was £1.5k less than at the Vauxhall dealer & they gave us 50% more in px, they will try to sell you extras but are not too pushy with it, we didn't bother with the extras or finance, definitely my first choice when replacing next cars.
  9. There are two functional execution chambers in two London prisons . These are kept operational because their are two crimes that you could still be executed for ,setting light to a naval dock yard and high treason . This is no longer true. Capital punishment was abolished completely and for all offences including the 2 mentioned in 1998 when the ECHR was ratified by the government. The Last working gallows is now an exhibit in Nottingham at the galleries of justice museum. Incidentally while ever we remain in the European Convention of Human Rights (Not to be mistaken for the EU) after Brexit it is prohibited to reinstate capital punishment according to ECHR rules Harnser
  10. "Hamilton isn't that good a driver, any of the top six or seven drivers would do as well as he has done if they were in that car." Absolute rubbish. He is the best driver in F1 now and has been for a while irrespective of the car. No other driver has won at least 1 race in every season they have competed in. Until this season he finished ahead of his teammate every season. More F1 victories than any other British driver, 2nd only to Michael Schumacher in all time victory list. He may not be everyone's favourite personality but to say he isn't a very good driver couldn't be further from the truth
  11. Used to have one of those years ago, what price is it?
  12. Yes I am tempted to buy a new Hatsan
  13. Got rats coming into my back garden & want a cheapish air rifle to deal with them. Distances will be about 20 yards & will probably be only used for this purpose so I don't need anything special, was thinking an old BSA or Webley, or anything really that will do the job, let me know if you have anything in the Derby/Notts/South Yorks & East Midlands areas
  14. Received the boots today, superb as new condition, well pleased, many thanks John

Its cold at the moment, snow covered when we got there, they get warm summers though. I can highly recommend it, plenty to do & see & friendly people. This year we did more our own thing, took a train out into the countryside, saw a more rural Poland public transport is plentiful and cheap, our train journey was a 4 hour return trip for less than £6!!

Just got back this week from a weekend in Wroclaw in Poland. As someone has already said great food (and beer!) & fantastic value. Book through booking.com & you will get a great deal on some really nice hotels. 2nd time we have been, went to Krakow last year which I felt was a bit more tourist orientated, Wroclaw feels more Polish if you get what I mean, cheaper though, 90p for a pint (well 500ml) of really nice beer compared to £1.20 in Krakow, good choice of trips as well, we did Auschwitz, Schindlers & Salt mine from Krakow, these are a bit more expensive from Wroclaw as they are further away but not a huge amount in it. We really like Poland doing Gdansk next.
