  1. The company I worked for had a clause stating that I couldn`t carry any weapon/weapons (of any type) or components to use them, whilst the vehicle was being used for work purposes. Might be worth checking it out insurance wise, if you have a company vehicle. I don`t supposed the hotel would be all that keen if they knew that you had powder and primers on their premises, almost impossible to prevent every last granule of powder not spilling. Happens to me quite often, not because of carelessness but static electrical build up in the plastic components.
  2. Minimum bits you will require will be a 1/8 BSP whip (to connect pump to gun and a double male ended 1/8 BSP connector to fit the whip to the pump. If you do try and fit a quick fill adaptor it may impinge on your moderator and you may also not be able to refit your brass end cover to stop ingress of muck . Check before purchase.

    2 weeks off

Have you been away? Didnt see you at Catton, we assumed you had got stuck in a rut somewhere. Only clvi cruse I have been on was up along the Norwegian coast from Bergen, stopping off at all the villages and towns along the way, crossing the Arctic circle and doing the crossing of the line ceremony twice, just so the other half could get it on camera. Then on around the North cape to the edge of Russia, with a dog sledging excursion and a visit to the ice hotel. The food in the restaurant was the best I have ever had, with at least 6 to 8 fish dishes every evening, there were of course many other meat dishes including reindeer. Cost 2 arms and 2 legs but well worth it as we saw the Northern lights, which was one of the reasons to go. The other was seeing the route of the Russian convoys during the 2nd WW, which my uncle had sailed many times to Archangel and survived torpedoing in the Northern waters as well. We went at the end of November so there was very little daylight and our visit to the North Cape monument was in total darkness and pretty stormy, which it usually is, just the severity changes!.
  4. If you can find it, good old creosote is the best, I believe there are still a few outlets available, though I haven't put it to the test. Otherwise use used engine oil mixed half and half with paraffin to help it to penetrate the wood. A pal uses it on all his horse paddock fences and sheds, lasts for years. All the old car mechanics used this recipe on the underside of their cars to keep the rust and squeaks at bay and also lubricate all the rubber bushings on the suspension joints, keeping well away from the brake pads though. I have used Sadolin in the past on my window sills and door surrounds and this works well, but had to keep topping up every few years.
  5. I asked at my local garage earlier this week and the mechanic says they haven't been told anything or even got any new paperwork, let alone being trained for the new regs. He is as confused as we are! From what I have heard though, is if your vehicle fails with a major, as opposed to a minor fault, you are not allowed to drive it away, it has to be recovered to where ever the repair will take place. Many people use council run MOT stations and garages that only do MOT tests and no repairs, so its some thing to take into consideration. I under stand that any smoke will be an automatic fail, but I dont know if this is considered a major or minor fault
  6. Quick search on Google and found this: Amazon Flexible Payments Service (FPS) will be discontinued effective June 1, 2015. Walk away very quickly. There have been loads of similar scams on the Freecycle sties where the person giving stuff away has suddenly had to move because of illness or some other family reason, they will send you the item if you send them the courier monies. If its too good to be true, it is usually a scam of some kind.
  7. I have a 1500 in 308 with a Hogue stock. The more I use it the more I like it, so have shelved the idea of buying a Boyd's laminated stock even though I like the look of them. Got no problems with accuracy, though I have toyed with the idea of pillar bedding it, but even with all the kit on, scope, moderator and Bi-pod, the barrel still free floats so again haven't bothered.. Do what makes you comfortable.
  8. My stuff is in for renewal with A and S at the present time. I didn't have to get photo signed or witnesses to sign the photo. It appeared to me as if the latest renewal forms are being made to get them processed automatically, (a bit like the Inland revenue are doing). I seem to remember Lincolnshire Police, (remember them?) saying they intended to be the first force in the country to do it, rolling out early this year. Not sure how that`s going, what with the Medical letters fiasco. I suspect that the forces get a load of information by cross referring to the "Gov Gateway" that keeps digital copies of your image for your driving licence and passport etc. Maybe, just maybe, this is the route that the powers that be, intend to use to give us a 10 year licence, if they are pressed hard enough by our shooting organisations. Not holding my breath though.
  9. I remember Michael Portillo did a programme on Capital punishment a few years back and he came to the conclusion that Hypoxia was the most humane method of execution. To demonstrate, he entered a chamber with another "control doctor" who had oxygen and they reduced the oxygen level in the chamber. Portillo became incredibly euphoric even though he knew he was dying, and was able to talk about it and how he felt. Monitors showed his body shutting down. The Dr finally gave him an oxygen mask, as in his estimation Portillo only had 2 seconds left before dying, very very happy.
  10. Just typed "Mirror film for windows" on E bay and loads of stuff on there. FB
  11. If you cant beat em join em. Plant wild meadow flowers in your borders, they grow easily enough from seeds. The best tip I can give you is strim your lawn borders both top and sides before mowing your lawns, then your lawn mower picks up the strimmings as you mow. I have used this tip for years as I hate it all to. Failing that use industrial strength Roundup from your local friendly farmer and put that on your boarders, next to nothing will grow, its far stronger than the stuff you get in the Diy stores. Am seriously thinking of getting Astro turf down as it is so good these days. Just treat once a year with weed killer, sorted. Good luck FB
  12. My first was a single barrel Baikal 12 gauge, couldn't afford a double. Cost was £13.00 from a music shop in the Arcade in Bristol. In those days no big SGC just a folded bit of card stamped by the issuing constabulary, still got it somewhere. I was as proud as punch. First pigeon I shot with it, I don`t know who was more surprised, it or me? Had the usual problem of the ejector over riding the cartridge rim, so had to carry a 3 piece cleaning rod with me in the field or I couldn`t carry on terrorising the pigeon population. Happy days.
  13. I have shot loads of them through my CZ american, it likes them. Having been able to get them at £3.00 a box of 50 just had to give them a try. Used them outdoors at Catton park a few weeks back at 140 yards and was able to pick off the swinging onions with no bother at all.(witnessed by one of the Marshall's and my regular shooting pal who is also a member of this forum, I passed the rifle to him and he repeated the shooting). Imo they have the same performance as the Federal 40 grain HV. I purchased a bulk load of both from my club armourer. FB
  14. Divide and rule, tried and tested many times and proven to work. Not rocket science is it. The rodents are nibbling away at the biscuit crumbs and soon there will be no biscuit left. The Shooting Associations need to get their acts together fast, as unless they do they will have signed their own redundancy notices with nothing/nobody left to represent.
  15. My FAC/SGC are in the process of being renewed at the present time. I know my Dr has had the request from the Police. My nurse has informed me that she can,t see a problem on my records, but can`t advise me as to whether there will be a charge involved, but she did say that the surgery is so strapped for cash that they may have to levy a charge, in other words subsidising other areas of the practices work that they are over spent on. This admin is not carried out by the GP but by the general staff. Please don`t misunderstand, I am not against paying an admin fee per say, but I would like Nation wide a proper pricing agreement as was similarly agreed previously with the BMA, GP`s and the Home Office. A pal of mine had his "Ticket" renewed in November and has now received a £20.00 bill from his surgery which he is adamant he is not going to pay, fair enough that`s his decision, but I did mention the fact that next time he has occasion to request medical clearance from his GP it will also flag up failure to pay and they just may not do it. Bit tricky if the No medical clearance letter/no ticket option is rolled out across the country. The shooting organisations (not just BASC) need to get a handle on this swiftly and get a court judgement, which will then be in tablets of stone. SACS (of which I am a member) should have prepared a case long ago.
  16. This news isn't any surprise, Lincolnshire Police announced this very topic on Countryfile around 6 weeks ago. I trust BASC and the other shooting organisations took it on board then to prepare their counter actions, to get ahead of the game, but I doubt it some how.
  17. Glad to see that you are going to seek help, I guess there are more people on this forum alone, who have been in your situation but don`t want to post publicly. Been there, got the tee shirt. It does not necessarily follow that your shotgun certificate will be removed, depends where you are in your renewal cycle as you may not even be flagged up yet in your Drs surgery and the Dr may consider its a small hick up at this stage of your life and not report it, especially if it turns out to be some thing other than the black dog. Should the worst case scenario occur, transfer your gun to your best pal for safe keeping and then get him to accompany you on your forays, the law says you can carry and shoot whilst under supervision, with out a certificate. I have a friend who has a Schizophrenic son with heart problems and shed loads of other stuff going on, and he shoots dads shotgun in the field and in the range, all perfectly legal according to our Firearms Department. The first step is the hardest, just like the gamblers and alcoholics, acknowledging that the problem is bigger than they are. Go for it knowing there is light at the end of the tunnel. I wish you every success. FB.
  18. As I understand it the idea is to post the bottles through a hole in the wall where a scanner works out the type of bottle/plastic and then prints out a voucher for you to use next time, so no cash involved. No one has said what happens behind the hole in the wall, must need a large machine to sort the plastic into type and colour, cant see a small shop being able to have one with the cost and storage involved, never mind the labour when the recycle truck turns up to collect it all. I can see people being to lazy to sort it all and dumping every thing through the hole, another problem in the making.
  19. I keep all my spent primers in a jar, (just in case) also keep receipts of purchased bullets. Have had no problems with Avon and Somerset, but they do ask the question "Do you reload?" on the latest renewal forms.
  20. He may be trying to scam his wife out of her part of the company, and hide his assets. There may be no elements of insolvancey at all, just greed and pure bl****y mindedness Any debt owed by you is to the original company. Stick by that. You don`t want to end up paying twice.
  21. +1 easy to fit replacement, keep a spare.
  22. I think that JohnfromUK has given you sound advice. I have reread your original post and quote "Rads are good quality and I went over the recommended BTU per room." New rads are likely to have less resistance to water flow and hot water takes the least line of resistance, also as they are bigger you are compounding your problem further. You must also now consider whether your boiler is man enough for the extra requirement placed on it in its present and future forms as you replace even more radiators. Possibly having reached the point of the straw breaking the camels back. Maybe depending on your home layout and requirements you could divide your house into 2 zones with the upstairs running at a cooler temperature and times? Cheaper than a bigger boiler that you wont need in the summer, so more fuel efficient. Every time you replace a radiator you will upset the balance of the system.
