Sensible precautions at all times. Both Old Man and myself were supposed to be meeting up for 3 days of shooting this weekend but as we are both in the at risk groups (on many levels) I have to go into a motel and we both love eating out, discretion became the better part of valour. If we were both local we would have met up but we are 120 miles apart then there is the travelling to our perms. Live to shoot another day, you can`t rely on everyone else being sensible. I was told of 2 women yesterday going at it hammer and tongs over a jar of mayonnaise. Keep your car tanks full if you can, I suspect that before this is over that the bridging drivers who deliver the fuel to the pumps and home heating fuels may well be in short supply even though the fuel is available at the supply depots. I am now carrying disposal gloves which are worn on my forays to the builders merchant and food shops, Blue gloves look more impressive than a small blue plaster don`t you think? Think smart and stay safe.

My sister in law tried to use a credit card to purchase a replacement car at the beginning of January (because she wanted the Credit card protection) and the garage informed her that they weren`t allowed to take credit cards (by law) any more, but could take a Debit card. We already have such laws. Any one committing an offence with a sub 12 ft/lb air rifle, sub 6 ft/lb air pistol or any imitation weapon, is automatically charged with fire arms offences. It is down to the individual to ensure that he/she remains within the law, what ever the circumstances. FB

Just returned from the war memorial in my village of Westbury on Trym. The turn out each year seems to rise with more and more youngsters, Air cadets, Scouts etc. My other half dos`nt come with me, she knows I have to be on my own. Glass raised for All the boys and girls who have kept us safe, some times at huge costs to themselves and their families. We will remember them.

If the safe is to hold cartridges (assembled ammunition or factory bought ammunition ) definitely yes. If to hold the components to assemble a cartridge then no. Terminology is important to distinguish between a cartridge (assembled round) or a bullet (the projectile). FB

This is an age old question that constantly comes up in conversation but has any one got 1st hand experience of having their rifle or pistol tested by the Police? I have run an airgun club for 30 years and hunted with airguns up and down the country but have never come across anyone who has had a pull for this. I am very aware of the Law and the fact that changing pellets and also a change in air temperature can have and it`s the shooters responsibility to stay sub 12 ft/lbs whatever the circumstances. Every now and again I have a purge at my range and test the guns being used as much for my own knowledge as well as keeping newbies within the law. FB

I`m afraid you do have to inform everyone about the change, a real Ba** ache. Banks, insurance, Dr`s and it goes on and on. I had a similar problem a few years back when Tesco wound up their email/internet service. Luckily I had previously set up other accounts on Yahoo and Gmail. Best thing is to write down all your business stuff, (surprising how many contacts you make) and tick off each when done, (easy to forget who you have contacted when you start) you can change contact details with almost everyone on line these days but you may need your passwords to hand. Agree with the previous comments, there dosn`t seem any over pressure signs on the case or primer. Does your pal full length resize or just neck size? I would seat the bullet a bit deeper, that will help reduce the pressure and give the bullet a chance to jump into the rifling. Alter the depth seating to say 5 thou off the lands, then try 10 thou. See how he gets on. Again as previously mentioned try changing the manufactured brass, they all have different internal volumes and so for the same weight of powder will show different results. I usually use ppu brass for my reloading. Interesting that with my CZ if I tried loading to the lands I could not get the 223 cartridge into the magazine, so I load to 2.20"COL which works just fine. I have also found that loading a 50 grain bullet I can use Vit 140 powder with surprisingly good results. (Not normally used as it`s considered to slow a burn rate). Careful with this reloading at home as it gets highly addictive. Good luck.

Thank you all for your inputs. Getting quite a wide ranging selection of opinions from our committee on this matter. I feel they are over thinking it, how ever they are the committee. Trying to design a race horse by consent and ending up with a camel comes to mind. FB

I have been looking into methods of dust suppression in indoor ranges. My idea is to lay a roll of 5mm rubber sheeting behind the target frames, lying it directly on the sand in the butts. Every so often we can "stitch" a sacrificial piece over the pulverised area. With lying the rubber on the sand it may help to stop the cratering effect of repeated strikes in the same area by stopping the sand erupting into free air. One or two committee members are concerned about the introduction of minute rubber particles in the air, but I dont know if this is a valid argument as we are all subject to rubber particles from road tyres on a daily basis. I personally am more concerned with the lead dust that is given off. There is a lot of evidence about the increased levels of lead in the blood stream of shooters in indoor ranges. The only thing I can find is that rubber curtains are used in some indoor ranges where steel back stops are used, but nothing about the type of rubber used or whether it has to have some kind of CE mark. The range does have dust extraction but I am concerned that this may not be enough on its own. Any comments gratefully received. FB

I have used the Ombudsman in the past and they are more than helpful. Got my claim paid and compensation as when told to pay me they sent a lesser amount. When I reported this to the Ombudsman they were on the phone immediately to the insurers who said it was a clerical error caused by a new clerk in the office and the new check was issued that day. Make sure that you have all your evidence ready and they will start proceedings. Its not a quick process as they have to give the insurers time to present their case for not paying, the Ombudsman will then take a reasonable balanced view. Costs nothing. Go for it and good luck.
