  1. Won't be renewing at the end of this month utterley useless organisation. Plus Bird flu is back by all accounts so looks like shooting will be in for another tough season
  2. NOOOOOO.............not the NFU you'll have to sell a kidney
  3. Went to the Gamefair with a coach load of dad's shooting friends many moons ago, and they got into a conversation with him on the BASC stand about the time they were doing the wildfowling ban, god what an arrogant vile man i thought he was. Thought then why would anyone join the BASC if that man was in charge. Also recall I met Jack Chalton at the same Gamefair Chalk and Cheese characters, got his autogragh somewhere.
  4. Only way is up i'm affaid. It lasted less than 24 hours, who in there right mind will insure boats sailing in that region. Putin just messing with the European Harvests
  5. Yes ! I use one for pigeons,Crows,Rooks and Jackdaws you can get extensions for Rook and Crow wings to spread them slightly wider but a slow/low speed is more important iv'e the remote fob so can experiment without leaving the hide. I find Jackdaws fairly easy to decoy with just a few decoys anyway
  6. But doesn't a large amount of are elecricity come from France ? We are as nearly deep in the number 2's as they are
  7. NFU were 6 times my current fully comp. policy on my Defender and aged 50+
  8. If your a Gamebore fan, for a good club cartridge try the EVO's used 250+ on a Sim Day, really good
  9. Exactly, crops are under threat from the day they’re drilled to the day they’re harvested, one or two crops around us have gone flat, especially rape and shooter have been on them for a week or two now. Tinder dry crops don’t allow rope bangers so crack on
  10. Well what a collosal waste of money all this is then, no one has ever been proven to have died from eating game shot with lead..... IT IS SAFE !
  11. I'm down to two confirmed days on a peg this season and none of the shoots i beat on have a firm date for birds, getting close to the wire now. I would hazard a guess that in a 25 mile radius from home there is one very large shoot going ahead as they rear there own and just 2 DIY shoots. I usually on average do 30 to 35 days beating, now 11 if the shoots get there ordered birds quite a drop for me
  12. Shooting is pretty much on it's knee's right now, game shooting is all most non existant this seasons,. The BASC and NGO memberships are dropping fast another season like this and they're finished. Gunshops struggling, cartridge prices sky high the prospects are not good.
  13. There is one thing that has come out of all this is the cost, to the Government, to cartridge companies, to the gun trade to shoots across the country, to shooters of all disciplines, to conservation/the environment and of coarse jobs and probably friendships. All on pretty much unproven science.
  14. As said by many before me, the problem is how do your A,B and C class shooter become AAA class and Olympic standard shooter. There wouldn’t be a competitive field. It already been said Small bore and Air rifles competitions become all about luck
  15. You wouldn't plead guilty before you know what your charged with. Hear the evidence first, which in this case is very flimsy...
  16. But surely that's why there are different organisations for different interests, if only the 8 or so orgs. that are supposed to represent Live quarry shooters did exactly that. May be if nothing else comes from this is we end up with one decent organisation that represents ALL shooting interests.
  17. Momentous occasion........we are finally in total, 100% agreement with each other....😃 we've see the NGO wriggling a bit as well lately to
  18. 10 years ago we had probarbly 5 or 6 Red Kites and nearly double that in Buzzards but now we have easily 10 times that in both. We have a couple of guys in the area who go round putting up Owl boxes we've 4 on the farm and most of the neighbouring farms have similar. In the last five or six years we've had Barn owls in one of our boxes none have made it past either hatching or fletching due to Carrion crows or Magpies taking them out of the boxes. We've had Kestrel's but i think it's lack of food mice etc. is the problem there. Before COVID struck i had to do another complusary coasre to maintain my spraying license, which one part was about Rodenticide Use and Secondary Poisoning. Apparently most of the modern poisons are pretty much ineffective at secondary poisoning now but very affective on rodents.
  19. But why are there so many more raptors now than 10 or 15 years ago. They scavenge pricked and unpicked birds so must pick up lead shot doing that. Far to many unqualified experts out there....i'm affaid
  20. Having just seen the news, The Government Food Strategy wild meat is on the agenda. Eat wild venison instead of beef. As i've already said can only see more COMPULSARY regulations coming. No SGC or FAC without all your certificates renewed every few years.
