  2. Hi everybody.. Got 5 Browning Midas Invector + choke tubes. These were used on my Browning Ultra XS... New... Imp Cyl / MOD / IMOD / DIFFUSION Used Skeet ( slight fading to black on end and light scratches on gold band. Traded gun in not long after getting them They are about £40 each to buy Looking to sell all together for £120
  3. Lol....Isnt that a coincidence..... I just came on here to start a thread asking if anybody new where to get replacement parts for Bettinsoli... I've got a Diamond, the one with the gold inlay woodcock, duck and goose across the faces... My eldest just started shooting last year and just moved from a 20b to a 12b. Got the diamond for about £150. Its the 2003 model with the age code of BT above the safety catch. Anyway, its had about 800 shots put through since i got it, and a crack formed this weekend from the rear of the trigger guard up to the safety catch.... Just removed the action this morning and the side leg practically fell off... After some searching it seems to have been quite a common problem with the type of wood on the older Bettinsoli's... Its a real shame as the insides are immaculate.. So i tried looking for spare/replacement stock and cant find any.... Not willing to spend that much on it really, but if i could get one for up to £100 i would probably go for it as its in good condition. So my opinion would now be to say... get the newer model ( especially as its the same price )..... or get a gun where replacement parts are easy to get hold of.... Or spend a bit more and get a Browning/Beretta....
  4. My Old man has had this problem for years with a Browning silver... Fantastic gun, but less than 67mm shells and forget it.... Its to do with the length ...yes..that extra couple of mm when its pushed up allows it to free slide into the chamber.... the shorter shells when pushed move slightly out and get caught on the edge....
  5. Unless its FITASC or Compak sporting... full use of gun at single target..... Unless its FITASC or Compak sporting... full use of gun at single target..... which means loading 2 shots for only one clay .....
  6. I really cant believe this same old conversation is still going on....lol I have been through the 301/303, B80 back in the 90's, along with the silver, escort and benelli these days and nothing has changed... When will people realise it is not the firearm that is dangerous... These things are useless without a person in control of them... A semi-auto / Over/Under / side x side are only as safe as the persons wielding them EMPTY OR NOT Everybody knows now that a semi is empty when locked open, and even has safety plugs/flags to put into the breach to highlight the fact.... Go into the majority of club houses, or onto stands with gun racks, where any number of guns are placed waiting to shoot... O/U guns closed and pointed upward on the rack...Are they empty? Semi auto on the same rack... straight away you can tell ... open = empty.... closed could mean its loaded or owner has closed it... but easily identifiable as being a potential danger... Has anybody gone and checked every o/u or s/s on a rack when entering a clubhouse or at a stand to make sure its empty whilst you or others are in the vicinity....?.....We rely on the owner and their diligence that it is..... These things are all mechanical, with components that wear down, so any potential drop could release the mechanism....... Nobody ever complains about o/u or s/s being closed in racks. How do you know any gun is safe in a gun slip...... I have witnessed someone close an o/u and about to put it in his slip at a ground, where he had hit the last pair with one shot, broke the gun...ejected one shell but whilst talking about how good or lucky the shot was , forgot he still had another in it..... Luckily it was pointed out to him to much embarrassment.....Which spoilt the good feeling he had just experienced on the stand... Spitting out empty shells I can see a point in DTL as its set up with no cages and persons already on pre fixed points close to each other. Nobody wants empties being dispersed in their direction when they are preparing for there turn, so i would say common sense and understanding would need to be applied here if this is your chosen discipline... Most other disciplines should have no concerns, all shooters should be in a cage, and all other persons should be behind the person or at least out of the arc of movement.... and if you see someone with an auto....well.... move to the other side....over a bit or out of the way.... As long as they pick them up...if it is safe to do so.... If a stand is set up so a trap is so close to the shooter that he cant retrieve them, thats too bad.... Ejectors in o/u are there for a reason... ok...we manage to catch most of them... but guaranteed a few pesky devils escape and end up in locations its not worth holding the stand up for to retrieve..... Loading 3 shells This is a bit of a grey area.... People have mentioned about distraction and forgetting.... The same can said about any firearm that holds more than one shell... In skeet... you have a single high..one shot allowed...single low...one shot allowed... yet everybody loads 2 shells each time in an o/u... probably to save time and in case that they get that gut wrenching click where they have loaded the wrong barrel... but then... with an auto... you could say loading three means you only need to speed load 1 shell for that stand where an o/u needs to eject and load twice.... The only time in skeet 2 shells are required is on the pairs...... Distraction and forgetfulness can happen to anybody......It is down to the diligence and safety of the individual to keep their firearm under control properly Who here with an o/u has not fired 2 shots at a single bird....and hit it... which has given you an understanding of where you went wrong the first time... When practicing and not in competition, 3 shots is very useful ...especially for crossers... It has helped me in the past and my son when learning about gauging speed and leed a great deal.... Again... whether 1,2 or 3 shots are loaded in a firearm... it is dangerous at all times... Having only 2 shells does not make a firearm any less dangerous than 3..... Personal Opinion I much prefer an o/u now, but in no way would i be negative about a shooter brandishing a semi auto unless given reason to...by that person. If any person is found / seen to be unsafe with any firearm, then they should be spoken to and if necessary banned from the club and reported......Not ban the firearm itself.... Over the years i have witnessed unsafe acts across the board from all firearms...... A new club has opened local to me who do not allow semi autos as they witnessed an unsafe act once..... Would they ban o/u as well under the same circumstances.... Of course not...
  7. Hi Guys, Just wondering if anybody out there is looking for a shooting partner for some wildfowling either shore or field. I am originally from Inverness way where i used to shoot a lot, but since moving to Banff/Macduff i have only been shooting clays, so i am not up to speed on areas local to me just now. Thanks
  8. Good morning all, Just wondering if Seals cove is open today. The number on the website is for Andersons gunshop which is closed and the facebook page has not been updated with anything since november 13... Is it recognised under another name? Heading down to Fintry Hill climb and thought i would get some clays in .....
  9. So i have had my eldest out for a few times now ( 12 y.o in August ) and he is very keen to continue. He has been using my Browning Ultra ( Aided) to get used to things on the skeet range and is showing some very good potential. He can only manage about 25 shots before he says no more due to the weight of the gun...He is happy with the recoil and has shown no signs of marks or bruising. Have tried him with the Browning silver semi auto, which he likes weight wise but is not keen on the moving feel of the gun, which i can understand. Now i know the Ultra is a pretty heavy gun for a youngster, so i am excitedly looking at getting my new shooting buddy his own gun. I have had a feel of the new Yildiz 20b and it is very light and i am sure he could manage that.... but then i noticed there is only about 9oz difference between the 20b and the 12b weight. I would have to get the 12b stock reduced which would shave a bit of weight, but he would gain with the bigger bore and the longer barrel. Yildiz SPZ M JUNIOR 20b....5lb 14oz...26" barrel....13 1/2" stock Yildiz SPZ ME 12b....6lb 7oz....28" barrel....14 3/4" stock Just wondering if anybody else has got experience in getting their kids guns and how they went about it.
  10. the 24g were very nice to fire compared to the white golds...and very comparable breaks on the skeet...would explain the the problem if eley have taken over...never been a fan of eley carts
  11. Keep all my shells in the airing cupboard in a lock box, so they should have been nice and dry.... 3 hours or so travelling in a nice warm car, so no real chance of damp getting into them... Was just wondering whether it was the mix of powders and oil with the tempreture.... I did shoot 100 sporting within 1/2 an hour, then 4 rounds of skeet within an hour.....but would not have thought so.... Will be trying them again on Sunday, just to see.....
  12. It was a fantastic day thanks....Weather was perfect... Ended up doing about 100 sporting and the 100 skeet... Have not been there for quite a while, but a very nice friendly place... just wish i lived closer... Hopefully meet up in the future some time..
  13. Just used these for the first time today..... Very good hitting cartridges both on skeet and sporting targets..... One major downside is how dirty they are.. Billowing smoke and absolutely manky barrels.... Which was not a problem until i tried cleaning them tonight.... So i fired about 75 of them today alongside 125 white gold plastics.... Finished shooting about 16.00 , got home , had tea and attempted the cleaning about 20.00..... Now... the gun and barrels were immaculate before i went shooting , so i was not expecting much of an effort cleaning as it was a lovely dry , sunny day.. Having shot the white golds regular i knew it was not them.... Bloudy hell... i have not had to put that much effort into cleaning barrels...EVER... It took 40 mins of wire brushing, bore cleaner, Legia cleaner, pushing rags through...getting the nice squeak sound.... and still signs of residue.... end of chambers....and just before the choke threads..... Letting some cleaner soke overnight, and attempt again in the morning.... Think i will stick with the Blue Diamond Fibres....
  14. Hmmmm ... not sure if the best advice is the paid for one... Ask any person on this site if they would reccomend wearing protection whilst visiting a lady of pleasure and the answer would be a resounding ...YES..... Good FREE advice.. Ask the women of pleasure if i need protection..... ' No Baby.... Im a clean Girl..... Dont worry.....'...... Paid for advice..... not necessarily that good.....
  15. It depends what your old contract had written into it... a variation term....flexibility clause...mobility clause which will determine what they can or cant do and whether they can initiate it straight away or give upto 90 days notice to change....
