    HEADS UP!!

Just for the record chaps this thread was not about coating Hermes. Its about the real fact that Amazon etc are treating parcels for delivery with a disinfectant, that is harmful to pets.

    HEADS UP!!

Might be old news but I'm posting it anyway. Vets are warning pet owners mainly dogs and cats that due to the worsening Covid situation. The likes of Amazon and other parcel delivery companies are treating the parcels with a non pet friendly disinfectant. Its quite harmful by all accounts to dogs and cats. And you shouldn't let your dog or cat anywhere near the parcel. My dog loves to rip up cardboard but won't be getting his paws on anything now that gets delivered. I wouldn't worry too much if Hermes have delivered your parcel because by the time they get round to delivering it the disinfectant has probably worn off.
  4. They suggest lying prone when you sleep as it eases the strain on your lungs making breathing easier at night. Wife says all the covid patients on her ward are lying on thier stomachs.
  5. Workshop available space quite limited. Well thats an understatement to be honest, should be workshop available space non existent.
  6. We had a nuclear bomb go off here in Harold Hill, done 10 pounds worth of damage.
  7. I'm 52 and do a physical job, plant hire company lots of heavy lifting loading and off loading the van on sites. I consider myself in pretty good nick, slight belly but ain't we all hitting fifty? When I caught it I thought it just feels like flu apart from that scorching headache and eye strain. But I wasn't expecting the after effects. I was tired when I had symptoms but thats nothing to how totally knackered I felt afterwards. Even the most trivial task like taking out the rubbish bags, just wiped me out. No way at the moment I can return to work. I wouldn't last five minutes. And your right about it being very real when you have it. I couldn't get the thought out of my head that I have tested positive for a virus capable of killing me inside 14 days. Its a very scary situation to be in.
  8. Not so sure about that Covid hospitalises Diabetics pretty quick as they already have a depleted immune system. Chap at work has Type2 and he was touch and go for 10 days in hospital. He is well on the road to recovery now. But he said it overwhelmed him pretty quick after 2 days of symptoms he knew he was in trouble.
  9. On a serious note, the wife has seen this and she recommends you don't drink Alcohol while suffering from covid. As alcohol effects the strength of your immune system leaving your body less able to fight it.
  10. Get well soon mate, Hope you don't get this P.C.F or long covid afterwards. its not nice at all. I'm in my 4th week now. Hopefully back to work Monday if I continue at this rate.
  11. Thought the windows where going to shatter this afternoon. Massive explosion type sound, jesus was it loud. Went out front to see if there was any smoke because it sounded really close. Quite a few others where out looking around but nothing to see. Apparently it was two Euro fighters scrambled from an Airbase in Cambridge to intercept a Jet that had lost communications, They escorted it to Stanstead. Never heard a Sonic boom before, And I'm in Essex so what that sounded like in Cambridge I wouldn't like to know. It was heard as far in as Barking and East Ham. It did sound like one hell of an explosion though.
  12. Due to the lack of family this Christmas gone, The huge tub of dry roasted peanuts is taking longer than usual to finish, I don't like peanuts but I do like the dust that collects at the bottom of the tub, KP ones you can see the dust through the plastic and a good shake every now and again adds to the tally. Temptation got the better of me and I have just been caught red handed running the peanuts through a sieve collecting the dust in a bowl. I must say a total over reaction by the wife resulting in her hiding them. I think I may have to write a letter to KP explaining the situation and the possibility of next year for people like me that don't like peanuts just to sell bags of the dust, I'd buy them. My Daughter has a similar thing with KFC she just likes the batter. Won't eat the chicken, Peels the batter off wraps it around the chips and dunks it in the gravy. Now where are those peanuts........?
  13. Same mask's surgeons use to stop bacteria from him being transmitted to an open wound or what ever surgery he is doing. DOES NOT stop transmission the other way, unfortunately. It does say on the box not suitable for viral conditions.
  14. Gaffer tape? As an official Gaffer/Duct tape engineer I would say its worth a try, failing that soldering is really the only way. Is it some sort of LED oojamaflip?
  15. Boris was getting a ribbing this afternoon as to why he travelled from London to Bristol, around 100 miles to see one of the new vaccination centers?
  16. I wear a mask for work or I will when I go back. The blue ones that you see everyone wearing or not. I was reliably told by my wife that they offer little protection at all from covid. If someone coughs on you who has covid and not wearing a mask and you are. The chances of you still contracting the virus from that person is very high to almost certain. They do however stop you transmitting it to others, The virus can get in through the front but cannot get out.
  17. Warco are out of stock, shame. but I have asked them to notify me when back in. Clarke make some good gear, unfortunately their metal lathe is not one of them. If you go to an independent review site, not Machine Marts. They get some pretty scathing comments.
  18. I'm in the market for a bench top metal lathe. But things have changed since my engineering days. Obviously cannot get a Colchester, Myford or Brittan in my shed, three makes I know are very good. So I'm left with pretty much no choice at all. Clarke, Sealey, Axminster, all stealth Chinese lathes. And then you have the cotrall of rubbish on Amazon and Ebay, all Chinese. There is one on Amazon a Z Zeus 8x14 lathe, auto feed 3500 rpm, variable speed but it has one review which is blank just 5 stars, obviously fake. Its around 800 quid, but looking at the picture its of pretty poor quality. The gauges look like they are stuck on. The lathe I want is by Grizzly great reviews solid machine but Grizzly are American and don't deliver to the UK. I have not been able to find a UK supplier of Grizzly, they do some good products. So can anyone recommend a good quality bench top lathe, thats not Chinese in origin. Because I can't find one. Edited, Apparently Grizzly are re branded Chinese as well.😆
  19. There are 2 actually, can't find the Landrover but its mentioned and this one..
  20. Mate of mine does quite a bit. He has one that you can use in about 6 inches of water. No idea who its made by. But it looks expensive. Lots of rules apparently connected with metal detecting so he says. Permission from the land owner, also he does a lot of research into the bit of land he is going to go on. If there was a battle there or an encampment he tends to get a bit exited. I remember him showing me a rusty old lump of scrap, which he swears was a cannonball. It wasn't even round anymore looked more like a chunk of meteorite. Find anything big like gold coins try to keep it to yourself as depending on their Provenance, everybody gets involved.
  21. Sent Carstairs to the wine cellar over two hours ago for a 1971 Chateau Margaux to go with my crisp sandwich. Getting a bit concerned now he has been quite sometime. The wine cellar is below the East Wing which is only a twenty minute walk.
  22. Both got identical packets but on the back it will say either made in Northern Ireland or Dublin. Tried both and although pretty close the Dublin ones taste better. You can't beat a Tayto's Cheese and onion crisp sandwich gawjus!!!
  23. Which ones you get the NI ones or the Dublin? Same company but I think the Dublin ones taste better than the NI ones.
  24. I've got one for Mr Creamy???
