Securing a gun cabinet on a plaster board stuck wall
JamesMoody3 replied to Me matt's topic in Guns & Equipment
I'm in a new build and my only option was to bung it in the loft attached to the joists. FLO was fine with it, but did wack his face on the hatch on the way down, must have left a bruise! -
Pigeon shooting finshing with roost or duck flight

Pm'd -
I personally wouldn't do it, especially if it's been gut shot in which case they should be done straight away. It takes no time atall to gut and skin a rabbit or pheasant, I don't see why you wouldn't bother preparing them before they go in the freezer.

I used them end of last season and got on really well with them. Never changed the chokes in the gun I use most so couldn't comment on it, but I was putting them through quarter and half and bringing down some screamers (for me)

I cured a load I had last time and made a goose pastrami. not a lot of effort involved but it does take a while, but it was very very good

I have a 12g Hatsan Luxano, and it has a really really short stock, it's been fired three times since I got it to see if it cycled lol, and sat in the cabinet since, it was one of those impulse buys and I don't want or need it lol. I'll have a look for you tomorrow

Brewdog do have some fantastic beer, but I must admit the punk IPA is foul tasting, and bloody strong

Should have given me a call wingman! Seem to recall last time I shot in your company I didn't do too badly 😂

I used 32g 5's at the end of last season, brilliant cartridge in my opinion -

Six mile bottom simulated game days
JamesMoody3 replied to JamesMoody3's topic in Clay Pigeon Shooting
I'm gonna have to book a day there for August I reckon -
Reading the field magazine earlier this evening, and saw an article about simulated game days, one venue being six mile bottom in Cambridge. Anyone been on one of these days before? It's something I'm seriously considering doing and at 175 quid a pop including lunch and dinner I'd be more than happy to go and give it a whirl pre season.

Sorry for your loss, I lost my dad 7 weeks ago, and it does really bloody hurt especially how close we were. All I can say is time will heal, keeping yourself busy helped for me anyway, I started an extremely stressful job 2 days after. It does get easier. Condolences to you and your family

East Anglia Game and Country Fair 23/24 April
JamesMoody3 replied to Schmitty's topic in Events and Meets
Went the last 2 years and was thinking of going this year, but decided yesterday that me and the missus will go clay shooting instead. Quite a long trip for us, and last year it wasn't all that in my opinion, very much the same as previous years and hardly any guns -
Sorry there is a date, must be going blind. Fair size shell though!
-
Sorry forgot pic
-
There mine. No date and not in as good nick as yours but the same shell case

My dad died 4 weeks ago and when I was clearing his house I found a huge shell similar to that one. It was by his fire and he used it to keep the poker in. I'll have a look at it when I'm back from work and post a photo of it, really is quite some size. Couldn't bare to throw it away, as it had sat by his fire as long as I have been alive and I remember looking at it as a little boy

32G Carts in a light side by side
JamesMoody3 replied to Wingman's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
I used my friends sbs for literally 10 shots on a stand a number of months back. Eley firsts 28g, didn't like it one bit, recoil was a pig! However 6 weeks later I shot a few pigeon with the same gun, using 32g I believe, and didn't notice the difference in recoil compared to my browning atall -
Browning maxus for me, hands down

Ferreting in hertfordshire
JamesMoody3 replied to JamesMoody3's topic in Sporting Opportunities (Free)
No I haven't got ferrets myself, I'm after someone who has. I used to have ferrets when I was very young, and my neighbour at the time gave me about 30 purse nets. Must dig them out if I can find them at my mums house and give them away, no use to me! -
Ferreting in hertfordshire
JamesMoody3 replied to JamesMoody3's topic in Sporting Opportunities (Free)
Haha terry is a good man! A few people have told me it is a little late to work ferrets now, and that the ferrets stay underground and require digging out? I'm on my mobile, where abouts are you? -
Hi all, there is a local I know with a fair amount of land which he says is overrun with plenty of rabbits, which he would like me to get rid of using ferrets. Only problem is I haven't owned or been ferreting since I was 9 or 10, and was wondering if any of you local lads (Hertfordshire, Buntingford area) off here with ferrets and experience would like to come with me midweek and give it a go, in return for teaching me along the way. I've been told that the rabbits can also be bolted to a shotgun in some areas, again, something I've not done before but would love to give a go. I've not been up to see the extent of the problem, but was hoping that if I get any takers it could be a reccy for the both of us, as I'd like to meet whoever I would be accompanying first so I don't just turn up on the day with a random and a car full of nets, ferrets and guns. Could possibly meet for a round of clays or something first (**** me this is beginning to sound like a dating ad), must be a decent person no idiots need bother messaging me. I must stress that this isn't an offering for you to descend on the land whenever you feel like, any dates must be arranged by myself, this has been made clear by the landowner. Cheers all
