  1. I thought the biggest problem apart from gases that may ignite was that using other gases is banned? Im sure gas guns and varients of such where banned back in the late 60's? with only CO2 ones being allowed again after the handgun ban? So they way I have always understood it is that PCP's are only legal if using breathing air as the propellent and under the legal limit (Im talking about non FAC guns)
  2. I have a brand new JSR 6x24x50 illuminated mill dot reticle, adjustable PX, complete with flip up covers going.. boxed never used or mounted. call it £50 plus postage.. ( they retail at £79.95)
  3. What on earth are you on about will just bounce of the fence..the fence isnt an issue its rabbits that want shooting and the H&N's will do the job at the range he is talking about but without going right through the rabbits head (ie over-penetrating) If your mates B4 was going right through a solid fence then he might want to run it over a chrono for safetys sake.. I might be a newb on here but Im not an idiot without experience at shooting with airguns..
  4. I checked out the pics.. Now I do a fair bit of photography and photoshop work.. first things first.. they arent photoshopped except maybe for colour correction etc. The main pic gives a false immpression as a wide angle lens has been used thus makeing the pig look longer in relation to the boy, but shadow and hair pattern checks on the hogs back reveals the kid IS leaning on it. The pic with them all standing behind it again is missleading as once again a wide angle lens has been used and in order that the person standing wasnt cropped out of the shot (head cut) the person taking the pic has moved them back. The pic with the tractor gives a false immpression in as much as the angle that its taken at and the fact that you can only see the hog from tail to haunches makes it look a lot smaller than it actually is. In all probability as the weighing and measuring werent indipendently witnessed is that we will never know the real truth.. suffice to say there is enough evidence out there that feral pigs and boars or theyre crosses can grow to phenomenal sizes out there. On a lighter note in some ways its heartening to see boar back in the british countryside.. but then I'd love to see wolf and bear as well...
  5. Id check out the XL tactical as well as theres a few floating around secondhand now as well as a few shops doing good deals on them new..

    falcon

A lot is going to depend on the type of stock thats fitted ( ie light hunter skeleton stock or standard beech sporter) The skeleton stock models go for more than the standard beech ones ( worth it though) Also on the action as a hawk action (2 seperate bolts, one to cock and one to load the pellet) is cheaper than the raptor action (1 bolt to both cock and load the pellet) So going on from that if is got the hawk action and sporter beech stock I would say around £250-£280 With the skeleton stock and raptor action up to around the £400-£450 mark depending on age and condition.
  7. I realise its off putting to hear people putting down a new gun that appeals and is in your price range and suggest spending the same money on a secondhand gun but please.. take it from someone who has not that long ago made the mistake you are about too, that its not worth it.. Go for the secondhand gun, a BSA, webley or other well known brand,it will far outperform the cheaper gun.. The downside to the guns your looking at is not only the build quality but also 9 times out of ten they will be heavier, have less power and be less accurate. For the record I bought a QB78 deluxe and within a few days realised what a huge mistake I made.. that mistake cost me over £100 all in. I then picked up a secondhand and well used falcon rifle.. which far outperforms the new one I had just bought..
  8. I woulndt have said the PCP is overkill .. if its sub 12ft/lb then its fine, in fact better than the B4 as it will be much more accurate.. If your worried about over penetration try the RWS super hollow points and head shots only as they have worked well for me with close ( up to 15 yrd) rats without issue. I do think its sensible to talk to your local FAO explaining what your planning and why. also its probably best to phone the station on the day to get an incident number prior to shooting, saves a lot of hassle if someone does call plod as they know, where and why so can then advise the person calling that its all above board. Dont forget to get a signed permission from the committee though and carry that with you at the time along with some ID/BASC/BASA etc documentation and insurance proof..
  9. The theobens and FX cyclones etc work for FAC as well check out ben taylor at BTAS, He's pretty much the best man in the country for working on FAC rated guns and his regulators give a much better shot count at FAC power.
  10. would you consider selling minus the scope and mounts as I have plenty of scopes already? if so what price?
  11. Check out this one.. had me in fits of laughter rednecks
  12. 3- 4ft/lbs is generous B) I get about 40 decent shots out of mine before it tails off. accuracy isnt to bad, but I would never ever consider using it on live quarry, it just hasnt the power to provide a clean, quick kill.
  13. If its in warranty still then dont mess around take it back just in case anything is amiss. I have one as well but never had a problem setting it up. Please realise though that when you fit a scope you will have to zero it (align it). You do this by shooting at a target and noting where the pellet hits then moving the cross hairs a little at a time until it hits the center of the target when you are aiming at it. You should always fire a few pellets before hunting to make sure the zero hasnt shifted.
