Well i have heard of wildfowlers up this way being checked for permits and checking cartridges ( bailiffs ) So might not look too good standing with an 8 shot semi hanging on your shoulder

I think it's more of the discretion of the local county FEO as to how they interpret the laws One should not travel with a loaded weapon unless on private land where one is carrying out therir duty / sport . I can'nt see any problem with loading magazines prior to leaving your home as long as they are not loaded into ones rifle also best to have the bolts seperate in a bolt holder till you reach your shooting ground thus rendering the rifle useless in the hands of them that should not be in possesion of such weapon At least that is what we have been advised
