  1. went out for a few hours on Wednesday and shot 40 pigeons, with my dad of course....Now I get to tell you about Saturday 23rd...it was hot and the pigeons were streaming into two cut rape fields for which we did not have permission to shoot. However the land we did have permission on backed onto one of the two cut fields so I set my dad up on one line while I went down to a different line with a friend who comes every know and then. it was non stop action from start to Finnish. my dad bagged 72 while me and my friend managed to get 107 between us....this day will live in memory for a while, we could have had more but we had to go early due to my wife wanting me to take her out for dinner our total for the day was 179 between us. Total = 1781
  2. my dad and me went out this afternoon and sat on a line to one of the barley fields that the pigeons were hammering. we sat there for 5hrs and had 99 pigeons. they stopped coming so we just missed the ton. new total 1539
  3. from the 6/7/2016 to the 16/7/2016 myself and my dad have shot 306 pigeons mainly over laid barley...that figure should have been a lot higher considering there are 2-3 thousand pigeons on it at the min. also shot 57 crows but I am Not counting them in the total. new total 1424
  4. Went out for 4hrs this afternoon with my old man.... we got soaked in the end but managed to bag another 46 (we were shooting over beans). 8433
  5. Hi folkes...not posted for a few weeks been busy shooting lol have had a few more sessions in the past two weeks....36,50,29,33,81 and 26 yesterday. i shot on my own last weekend as my dads pal came along..i had 57 at an avg of 2.4.....that is a new pb for me... 8213
  6. now thats dedication to a sport...good shooting.
  7. we got the trailer for the nothing..it was sat in a farmers yard loaded with cows muck...he said if you can empty it you can have it.... cheers it needed new mudflaps a new floor and some genral body repairs and new bearings. the net that goes round the trailer is also used for a conventional hide(a big one with a central divider) which is a must if your having a two man hide. we use another net for the top half of the trailer hide. the best part of using a trailer is you only ever pack your kit away once not in the car out the car in the car out the car and of course you have everything you could possibly need. i still havent got the hang of revearsing with a trailer yet much to my dads amusement...but the trailer does make life alot easier.
  8. thank you....the dog is a gem and we couldn't do any of this without her.
  9. This is our trailer/winter hide...these pictures were taken on its 1st field test. since then we have made a few tweaks and minor changes....we used it once so far this summer just to see if it spooked the birds. for the 1st 15 mins they seemed a little spooked by it but after that I would say that 80% of the birds were unaffected by it. it seems to work and should be a nice shelter for those colder sessions.
  10. a few more pictures that i managed to resize .
  11. We had another 58 over rape stubble....flighting... yesterday...should have been more but for my bad positioning. im my biggest critic when he comes to missing shots..yesterday i missed loads but not because i had forgotten how to shoot just more to the fact that i had positioned my self 450yds away from my dads hide on a different line to him. the line i was shooting on had nowhere to put a hide due to deep ditches and blazing sunshine. so i got in the ditch which was about 4ft-5ft deep but it was shadey. unfortunatly the grass was high and the birds where coming from behind left right and centre so reaction time and not seeing the target untill really late accounted for alot of my misses. when they were coming back they were easier to shoot but i was uncomfortable and couldn't get settled. the ditch was like a v with just enough room for one foot to be on a level,my positioning was the key factor in most of my misses. with an hr to go i left my ditch went for a walk to another line....i got under a tree there and shot the 1st 7 in a row....i should have moved sooner but thats a learning curve and a mistake i will try not to make again. 6984
  12. it was a hot day yesterday and by mid afternoon the birds were flying all over the place....shot 58 but picked these. we lost a few in hedges and woods : I missed a fair few and the bag should have been double that size. a very enjoyable session with no shortage of pigeons.
  13. hello people im new to the pigeon watch forums. i live in buckinghamshire and have been around the shooting scene for as long as i can remember. my dads had a shotgun my whole life and has loved every session he has ever had. i only decided to get my own shotgun 5 years ago as i used to be a carp angler who would go away for 3 or more days at a time. As my children were born i needed a hobby that would stop me being away so much and the wife moaning so much lol(although she still has the occasional moan). so i sold all my fishing tackle and got my cabinet, licence and my 1st own gun a beretta 687 silver pigeon. to say i was rubbish was an understatment,i struggled with that berretta for three years and my shooting never really improved,so my dad borrowed a browning b525 left hander...yes im cack handed. Well i shot so much better with that than the berretta that i knew that was the gun for my way of shooting so the following week i went and chopped in the beretta and got myself a brand new b525. my shooting is coming along nicely now and i get alot less stick from my dad(although banter is never too far away),my dad is im afraid to say a bloody good shot(paced one of his birds at 93yds) and his teachings with my browning have paid off in a big way. My dad has a miroku 30inch sporter his pride and joy well next to his dog that his, she is so good and works so hard when needed and she even manages to give you dirty looks every time you miss a sitter. my dads mobility is fading with age and he cant shoot without a friend due to Osteoarthritis of the spine,so one of my dads friends comes along a few times aswell which is good when he does as it means i can shoot on my own without dad showing me up lol. were lucky with all the land we have to shoot over as we have loads of it,due to my dad and the fact three of his best friends are farmers and with 4 other permissions and 2 other shares, some days we have driven 30+ miles just looking for birds. on some of those permissions we are the only people allowed to shoot it so i know how blessed we are, there is normally min of 3 of us but some times there is 4 of us(we take pals along for days out). i allways find it funny how some farmers moan about the birds destroying there crops but wont let people shoot there land and i do know a couple of them just like that. last year in 2014 we shot a total of 1444 pigeons and crows/rooks,and my overall avg for that year was 2.8( i had 742 shots and killed 259 birds) yes i counted every single shot after every session and logged it all down. this year were in the 900 and counting bracket (i havent logged any avg for this year) and were off to some land today with flights lines that look like a M1 in rush hour,so were hoping for a good day. i do have a few pics but not many as i have only just really started taking them so i can put them on pw, i have yet to figure out the posting of pics bit but when i can get my son off my pc and a bit of time i will put some up. im only on my pc now as my kids are sleeping lol anyway thats the bit about me and my dad done so ill let you all know later how the day went. cheers
