  1. 5 years is it not for full test?
  2. Downloadable free airgun ballistics software
  3. For a 2 MOA drop, if zeroed at 30yds for 60yds would require 775fps, a bit more than 10.5ftlbs.
  4. Doesn't sound right..... Try using chairgun to check
  5. I would say yes, as noise/gas should be propelled back towards the breach
  6. try a mixed test/sample pack of different from evilbay. Scope needs to be secure Hold needs to be consistent Crown of barrel needs to be checked. if brand new, gun may take 500 pellets to settle in (stop dieseling etc), put 500 cheap pellets through it and then test with mixed pack, working through the above. bench it for a 35 yard zero as descibed above
  7. 40gr subsonic will punch through a fox unless it hits something solid, so more than enough under 100 yards, just doesn't blow it apart like a centre fire.
  8. From the article..... .....The cod population has been in long-term decline for many years, largely due to fishing. An EU plan to aid recovery of cod stocks placed strict restrictions on the amount of time fishermen can spend at sea as stocks fell to 5% of what they were in 1981 but the researchers are now urging a change in the plan They eat a wide range of fish, but sand eels - a small, thin fish that lives near the sea bed - form the largest part of their diet. Although cod form only around 10% of the total weight of fish eaten by seals, the study suggests this is sufficient to have a significant impact on the stock. ....... So fishermen wipe out 95% of the cod stock , and then go on to wipe out other main stocks of other species such as sand eels (seals and sea birds main prey,) and others such as mackerel, the seals switch to eating cod as there is nothing else to eat.... why are they to blame?
  9. If it comes to sea fishing and the start of the sentence starts with something other than it's the humans fault for overfishing and destroying the seas ecosytem by bottom trawling..... Then it's ********. There us about 15000 seals in the north sea, (assum I ng you dont include orkney and shetland where the bulk 88% of the pop us) they will eat 45,000 tonnes of fish and crustaceans a year of many species.
  10. I don't think it is the seals that are taking 2.5 million tonnes of fish out the north sea every year....
  11. If the fat is crispy, you couldn't pay me to give it away. One i see alot and leads to shaking of the head is carefully patting bacon with kitchen towel to remove fat as lard/dripping is supposedly unhealthy and then putting 1/2 a tub of margarine on the roll..... just put the bacon covered in dripping straight onto the roll, add a dash of your favourite condiment and voila.
  12. They were circa £235/1000 when sold in 2013 and have been replaced in the current line up as far as I am aware. So you are looking at £350 total when purchased. Sat in a cupboard for 5 or 6 years with no moisture control and no longer produced, so you can't replace if you like them does tend to limit their value to most people.
  13. For minor cuts you can but needs to be clean and then held closed before applying super glue to exterior of pad only, If any glue gets inside the cut it delays healing. Best thing to get is a pair of breathable dog socks/booties when dog is outside as this massively speeds up healing by keeping water and dirt out, just like a bandage or plaster does for us.
  14. My results echo neutrons, but with my gun (Khan K226) .012 to 0.15 appears to the sweet spot before the pattern starts to blow. I have been using the Eley 3 inch No7 fibre to 35 yards for pheasant/partridge days and been obtaining clean kills with patterns averaging 135 pellets for 0.012 constriction. My home loads which are 7 1/4 are averaging 170 pellets with 0.012 at 35 yards and dropping pigeons out to 40 yards.
  15. What age is he? I was 'normal' build for an 8 year old and fine with a folding hammer 410 (13.5 inch stock) but was handling a 12b sxs by the time I was 12. 410 can be the lightest gun shooting with the lightest loads but limiting range but the 28b for 1/2lb heavier can handle from 410 to 20g loadings and would allow for longer use. Cartridges are about same in price but you get about 5g more in average in the 28b cartridge. What i would recommend is stick to cartridges with No7 or smaller shot for either, clay loads of no7.5 being effective to 35 to 40 yards on clays and pigeons and try to avoid full choked guns in both calibers as they are of little help to a beginner.
  16. Most modern shells are made to a decent standard and so would require at least a testing of 1000 shots and patterns to get a statistical difference between them. As components, Powders and shot are all similar. A top end shell should be high brass (actual brass), high quality plastic shell, high quality primer, and powder with uniform burning. Generating high speed with low pressure. Consistant wad either fibre or plastic that compresses in a manner exactly reglecting pressure increase 6% antimony shot. Accurately sized ans measured and finished with a good crimp and resized to easily fit into chamber.
  17. Check power, if north of 10ftlbs and consistant, leave it alone, if below 10ftlbs check barrel pellet port for leakage, if none a strip, relube and respring may be in order. The bsa owners forum has best info.
  18. As long as it wasn't paradichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, but most likely was 2methyl4chlorophenoxyacetic acid a post emergent broadleaf herbicide used in cereal crops.
  19. Evilv, Good reasons to go 25cal avoids going supersonic, which your 22 will do once you hit 45ftlbs or thereabouts. more efficient use of air greater shock/concussion on impact better bc less deflection by crosswinds The downsides are: - more expensive ammo steeper trajectory for any given velocity If you can judge range accurately, the 25 is a sweet caliber to use.
  20. At present, Fiocchi TT1 28g fibre 7.5it ( english no7) is about all that is left at decent price but I suspect price will go up soon.
  21. I use one of the CaCl oblong ones which sits neatly behind the stocks at the bottom of the cabinet.
  22. Have experienced similar and not the first time I have gone online for comparable and pointed out to sellers the new price you can buy shooting gear for and they are over priced.
  23. I got white UV paint from the below site: - http://www.uvpaint.eu/uv-paints/product/52-uv-paint-1l
