  1. Good job the OP for asking for advice when it was clearly going to be an emotive issue ... Rather looks silly for 5 mins, then get the job sorted, than continue on in a clueless way. Well done ..... For the count ... I'm a neck wringer .....
  2. It's your responsibility to make sure you're using the right shells.
  3. Orange for me too ... and I've had to find them in the mud!! I did have the on/off switch snap off one morning a month or so ago ... they got them turned round quite quickly and the charges were not as excessive as I thought they were going to be. dazb ... if it's clays you're into, then the passives will be fine (I have some 'squidgy' ones) ... for any type of fowling/game shooting ... you'll enjoy the additional hearing that the electronic ones give you. S
  4. I think the OP is referring to getting his cartridges tested by their service .......

Not the first time there's been Ruddy Shelduck everywhere ......
  6. The only ones I have that don't rust are the Federal 10g cases.
  7. A very hard hitting cartridge that is not stupidly priced is the 32g Rio Royal.
  8. You need to be highly motivated to risk your life week in week out ... he's achieved his goal ... if he can't find the motivation anymore I can understand it .. He's a wealthy young man, and can now drink champagne and be with as many girls as his tongue can cope with !! There was a thread on here some months ago about retirement ... most folks said do it as soon as you can ... he has. Not sure if it's feasible .... but putting Verstappen in the team would make things mighty interesting !!
  9. This is not a rant at any one person ... but I need to share it .. I really wish folks would put as much effort into getting their stance, gunmount, and technique right as they do with the constant discussion on choke, shot size, loading, bore etc, etc. Most of the combinations discussed on here are perfectly lethal if one puts it in the right place ... and IMHO that is by far the biggest variable .... Straight shooting to all !!
  10. Never sell a gun you love ... you will always regret it ... Perhaps try a cheaper sxs from Wabbitbosher, then upgrade when you're able to ...
  11. How can you do an objective test when you're guessing the choke? It will help some people, but the choke issue blew it for me.
  12. I've just got some of the higher Zamberlan boots .... initial impression is very good.
  13. The right advice there ....
  14. Very nice. A habit several of us have got into in our driven shoot is sharing our sunset/sunrise pics on our phones. Might seem a bit soft, but there's something very rewarding about a shared passion.
  15. Or the other A1 Skeet gun in that section .... proven quality that will retain value, and be a joy to own and shoot.
  16. An object of desire ... enjoy.....
  17. I use a bit of Vaseline. Also, do not use too much pressure as this can also 'chomp down' on the case.
  18. I think you're right on the 'comfort and confidence' .... I was very tempted by a 32" 28g the other week ... the longer barrels certainly felt good and 'pointable' .... If you love the gun, love how it fits, feels and swings, then you're more likely to shoot well with it. The only thing that needs to be in your head when you pull the trigger is staring at the target.
  19. The Midland looks like a lovely tool, well done on getting her. I had a similar day today - a modest one in the Fens with 45 on our driven syndicate, only the second time out with a SBS for me, but the old Army & Navy did the trick and we put 10 head into the bag. I'm not as quick getting the second shot off .... but with some old Winchester GB's, I didn't need to a lot of the time. Enjoy!
  20. That looks very exciting ..... like waiting for a fox to come out of the last strip of beans !! Well done for capturing and sharing it.
