Imperial game as already mentioned, also Gamebore extreme grouse in 29g are super soft through sxs. Similar to Neutron I also find speed to be more contributory to recoil, for example 30g dark storm are much less snappy than 28g as they are slower.

I thought that it was necessary to have a specific deer condition... very happy to be wrong though!

I really didn’t get on with my baikal hushower but I only used subsonic carts (Eley four long and subsonic Magnum) it never felt like it packed enough lunch to kill pigeons and was only really useful for short range rabbit stalking, seems like I was too hasty in getting rid!

Pickers up will thank you for using 5’s, funnily enough I use these for pigeon too. 6’s for early Grouse, anything lighter for clays. ‘See bird, shoot bird’ works for all.

Sorry for the hijack, but I have tried to get land cleared and they will only advise ‘it’s cleared for 243’ and not ‘up to’ and when chased don’t respond. I was looking to shoot HMR over the land which I have written permission for, am I right I n thinking that this would be ok? fAO are pretty useless here (Essex)

Not really, I’ve only recently had it converted!

Now that my semi auto is FAC I understand that I cant use it for Wildfowl (had I realised initially I wouldnt have had it converted) I will only shoot a few days of wildfowling per year , but need a cheap gun that will withstand the rigours of wildfowling. It also gives me an excuse to have a pump which suits my inner red neck! Suggestions please....

I've always found that post shoot pubs are more than happy for people to bring guns in so long as they ask. Village pub often has people with slipped guns and no one cares.

I've had two Musto, the first of which I have only just replaced after 5 years because I'm bored of it, it is perfect. I would second the suggestion of the Fenland, mine has never let me down I some of the crappiest weather and being light and packable makes it useful all year round. It's easy to add layers but sometimes inappropriate to remove them.

I don't understand why certain parts of GB are still allowed handguns.. Surely knee jerk reaction laws apply to all parts?
