  1. Hi Lee, I've just seen this thread and have not read all the posts - but I have first hand experience of this situation. A few years ago I was referred to Hampshire Mental Heath after a short period of depression. When the psychiatrist found out I had a shot gun she went to the police station and recommended they take it away!! I was totally stable, was not going to harm myself but she was just one of those anti gun type people. The police took my guns and revoked my certificate. I started an appeal against the decision, but the police said that if I was discharged after one year and stable they would be happy to consider a new application. Based on this I dropped the appeal. A year later I re-applied for my certificate, I was no longer seeing the psychiatrist, had full support from my GP and a supporting report from an independent consultant. The police turned down my new application because i was still taking 1 tablet a day. I appealed the decision and went to court. The judge ruled in my favour saying the police cannot use the fact that you may be talking medication, or seeking medical help as the grounds to refuse a certificate, however the police must show that the condition itself causes a risk to public safety. So basically I beat Hampshire police in court and I was issued a certificate. The whole experience cost me over £5,000, but it was worth every penny - and I continued on medication for a short time after. (I have stopped now) So basically I would advise you not to go against the doctors orders - don't stop your medication it is there to help you and it is not worth you becoming really down. If you have the means then appeal the decision, if not speak to BASC they may help you with the process.
  2. Hi Nick, Thank-you very much for the offer - it is very kind. I am a certificate holder and would would be very grateful to take you up on the offer. It would be a perfect way of letting her have a go without the cost of lessons and a new gun. if she like it then a lesson seems a good idea. I'll PM you.
  3. PM sent for 2 trigger locks
  4. Thanks Guys - the consensus seems to be that 410 is the right option, I'll also look up a good coach.
  5. My daughter is very keen to start coming shooting with me on the weekends (clays,) but I am not sure if it is too soon to let her start - she is only 11. Also if I did let her come along which gun should I get her to use? A 410, in my opinion, is an awful gun - I can't hit a barn door with it and I can see her getting very discouraged when she doesn't hit anything. So would a 20 gauge semi be any better (think of the hatsan youth) - or is a semi too dangerous for a youngster. I am sure some of you have done this before so your opinions would be great - is it too young and if not what gun would you suggest?
  6. did the dog or the missus do the impression of a rabid tiger?? All sort of pictures in my mind now. Glad nothing untoward happened.
  7. I AM NOT A LAWYER by I think Elby is right - 5 years is the limit. Also when the company sent him a letter to tell him what was owed this is an estoppel - they gave a figure of full and final settlement - this was acted on and paid - therefore they can't claim anything prior to this. If a court ruled the money is due this sounds as though the company got a ruling by default - i.e. your mate didn't respond. It is very unlikely that your mate would not have received info from the court - did he ignore it? Best thing is to see a solicitor - I am don't know where he stands now that a court has ruled.
  8. Do a quick search for "Google adwords keyword tool" with this you can enter one keyword and google will give you a list of related keywords and their estimated monthly search volume. Run a number of them and pick out all the keywords with a high search volume and those are the ones you need to include in your site. When doing this I also consider the competition that Google shows - try and find some keywords with highish search volume but low competition and then really plug these - low competition means you have a better chance of being found. I would recommend signing up for an adwords account before doing these searches - you don't need to spend any money - but it is easier to use the tools. Also make use of local area terms e.g. pest control southampton, and pest control hampshire - local terms are always the easiest to get to page one on - or so I have found. Don't go crazy and list every town in the UK just the big local towns in your area. Finally don't try and stuff in all the keywords you can think of - choose a few only and once these are performing well add in more. If you make a site called for example - www.hove-pest-control.co.uk - then really plug the keywords for just hove - you won't have as a big an audience but for local searches you'll dominate the rankings.
  9. agree with the others - ignore it - your boss will look more of a moron for sending inappropriate emails. If you get into an argument you will lose the high ground.

    e cig review

Go for the Tornado Tank - link here Upgrade the atomiser to a low resistance one - make much more "smoke" and easier to drag - link here Tecc (the site in the links above also do a range of liquid's but I get mine from Totally Wicked (a sister site but has a better range) - link here I've been on this kit for over a year now and haven't been smoking burning cigs since.
  11. I also have a trapper - but wasn't happy with the handle I put on so am reshaping and deepening the finger groove at the front, will put up a pic when finished. They are really good knives - they hold a very sharp edge!
  12. Some pics of my knife almost finished today. Just need to varnish with super glue for a glossy finish. Knife is an enzo elver in D2. Handle is micarta in black and white. A bit "retro" but I think it is different and so interesting.
  13. I agree with halfbee the enzo knives are really good quality and easy to make especially with limited tools. I have made two now, both from the site linked above, you can get all the bits you need there.

    e cig?

I have been using one for over a year. Haven't smoked a real cigarette for 10 months. I can taste food, don't cough, don't run out of breath etc etc. I use the Tornado tank - here but I use a double coiled atomiser - here - instead of the standard one that comes in the kit.
  15. Try firing a tin of pellets through it before trying to zero it perfectly. New guns, especially springers need a little firing to settle down. Unless it is a useless BSA lightning with a bent barrel !!!!!
  16. what scope do you have fitted Evo?
  17. Your post doesn't make that much sense - did you employer call you to a meeting to find out facts about an incident? Was there any disciplinary action taken at the meeting? Did your employer send you a notification of a disciplinary meeting before you all sat down - or was this just a minuted meeting to find out some information? I'm not sure that any civil rights have been infringed - maybe some employment rights but without more information it is impossible to tell. Taking minutes in a meeting is pretty standard - although recording a meeting could be against data protection have a look at the link below: http://www.personneltoday.com/articles/02/10/2012/58878/legal-qampa-recording-disciplinary-and-grievance.htm
  18. I would say this would be classified as an air gun. The bow is simply pushing on a piston to provide the air power. The question would be what power it is outputting, is it FAC? I would argue that you could hunt with this. instead of a spring or PCP cylinder you are powering the air rifle with a bow string - so its an air rifle not a bow. Would be an interesting discussion with the coppers though!
  19. Those pictures are beautiful!! I think I'm sold!
  20. I'm considering splashing out and getting one of these - does anyone have one and what do you think of them - are they worth the money? I've always had springers, but now I'm thinking if you can't beat them..... All the professional reviews are very complimentary. Any helpful reviews would be great and also any recommendation on scopes for this gun. I will be using it for rabbit, rats etc as well as a little plinking.
  21. The thing about contracts is that they don't need to be in writing. They are simply a meeting of minds - this said he does needs to prove it and a pay slip from the employer (direct employment) will be enough to prove that a contract was in place. In the absence of a written contract a "standard" employment contract will be assumed to apply, and these always benefit the employee more than the employer. However as steve_b said if the employment we very recent there is not really much point in taking any action - your friend will not get very much even if he goes through a tribunal.
  22. Try your library - Hants library allows you to download a huge selection of books for free - you need a library card though, but it's free just need to go in and get one. The books work on Nook but not a Kindle - I am sure they work on Galaxy. Download them on your computer and transfer to the reader and you get two weeks to read the book.
