  1. What are we considering 'older'? I think my 2004 DT10 is the dog's knackers but I'm guessing most of the 'older' guns mentioned here are 70s/80s. I would guess my wife's SP S is 80s and is still a nice gun with no problems. I briefly (2 days) owned a 692 and wasn't overly impressed.
  2. The first one we had we got a pest control guy out (we had two wasps' nests in the roof as well). Mole was caught. Three days later I was looking out at the garden and saw another mole appear out of one of the old holes! Hushpower in the cabinet so I grasped my trusty priest (wooden, not clergy) ran out and smacked it one before it disappeared! Cheeky sod!
  3. Like the Hillsborough jury!!
  4. Thanks for the link. I'm not asking for advice, rather information as the rod I've bought is less than half the shop price. I've always been happy with Penn stuff, the Eurocommander 20 was a great rod still good after 20+ years. The only problem was that it wasn't designed for braid, with a tiny but significant gap at the side of the tip roller which braid invariably made its way into.
  5. You met the wife then! Already ordered this, I particularly wanted a longer rod and have always been happy with Penn stuff.
  6. Sounds to me as if there hasn't been a planning process, his neighbours are extending under the allowed percentage scheme.
  7. Anyone any info on the above? I finally gave away my old Penn Eurocommander as superbraid was finding it's way down the side of the roller tip. I was looking at the Penn Rampage braid rod but managed to snap a section off in the shop? The Regiment rods were more expensive but I've just ordered one on evilbay for £45. End of line stock or big bargain??
  8. Just about finished the Forth bridge so I'll go and dig the Hushy out again 😉
  9. Not heard from you for a while Bosh. I was beginning to think you had sold out!!

    Storm

Hell of a storm just come through here (Macclesfield area), reminded me of Sicily. Garden well flooded, glad I mowed the lawn yesterday 👍👍
  11. If it's the same as other forums you can't see their posts, although you do see them quoted in replies by others. They can still see and reply to your posts. It can get a bit confusing if you don't know what other people are replying to. More useful to stop PMs etc.
  12. Not been to Pennine for 20 odd years. Caught big fish there but fishing the top lake was spoilt by the kerching of the cash register in the little hut on the dam!
  13. The fishing is supposed to be about pheromones, don't think skeet respond to pheromones, luckily 😉
  14. I enquired recently about getting some tracer 12g shells, we used to have some fun with them back in the '80s. Apparently still available but only by the slab, at around £500 a slab!!!
  15. Magpie worrying the bird feeder felt the wrath of the .410 Hushpower. 3653
  16. Not seen a squirrel for best part of 6 weeks. Maybe I've finally emptied this part of the woods, no doubt there'll be more as Autumn advances...
  17. Went yesterday, nice show although VERY small. Sad lack of guns, with Malmo 10 minutes down the road I'd have thought they might have made the effort. Great clay line by Blackpool clay club, a real contrast to the poor effort by Churchills at the game fair. Nice to see some different birds in the falconry section. Great to see the eagles flying. Edited to say friendly staff at the show, nice warm welcome.
  18. 1. Don't let her start, it will reduce by 50% the shooting you do! If she insists, don't go the 20g route as there is little benefit and a large deficit in the cost of cartridges. My wife had a 20 which she loved, she now has a Beretta Silver Pigeon S 12g with 28" barrels which she loves equally. Having said which she had a play with Caesar Guerini Syren today (purpose built ladies' gun) which she has mentioned on several occasions since.....😬😬
  19. The teaching (beyond the absolute basics) is based around shooting. My wife had two lessons last week and got through over 150 cartridges in both lessons. Were you in a large group? If not what were you both doing?
  20. Earthling humour. Aargh aargh aargh!!
  21. Same here but with both Eley and Lyalvales. The problem seems to be a weak spring on the extractor claw combined with the cartridges expanding when fired. No solution found yet and gunsmiths not really interested due to lack of parts and value of the gun.
