  1. Absolutely. The USA charged us for everything. Billions that have only just been repaid. They only got involved when threatened/ attacked. They will only try and fleece us, especially with the current incumbent in place if a deal is to be negotiated. They litigate everyone into submission at the slightest trumped up reason. Ask any business that has tried to set up there and what they attempted to do to the likes of Cadbury.
  2. Is your existing role coming to an end.. If not and you are being forced to do a new role and it would affect your well being. (Stress levels etc) to the point you can't carry on there is possibly a case for constructive dismissal. If your job as it stands is terminated and you are being re deployed you could ask to be made redundant. (Paid off) Unfortunately it's the way the world is going.
  3. They must have believed off was a pre 1998 of the long recoil design. (The barrel moves backwards in the action like a pogo stick the length of the bolt) The later ones have a system like a bennelli and the Barrel won't move. £200 offer is a bit cheeky for a 2013 gun if you ask me.
  4. Been thinking this for a while. I can't believe that supposedly intelligent people would not come to some agreement on the best way forward withou throwing each other under the Bus at every opportunity. Without a giving a monkeys about the country. I get that the only objective of Boris is to sit on the top step and hhats all that matters to hiim but the rest.. either they are very selfish people and only service themselves or they have a plan we're not privvy to.and they daren't say it out loud. .
  5. If it's a problem for somebody there's nothing stopping them putting themselves forward yo do it free. Doesn't put a roof over your head though and not everyone's ambition is to be a saint. If someone is doing a job and it brings in £16k a year it's because anyone can do it with minimal training and making a mess of it will have minimal implications on the organisation. Others more senior will call it out before any real harm is done. I guess these jobs have extensive impacts on other people's lives.
  6. I asked the local gunshop if they could do 2 chokes for CG.. they said ok. Fair swap. 🤣
  7. Can anyone enlighten me too? Got newsnight on and still no wiser.
  8. Sat with a retired vet (a few years ago having a coffee. With we were talking in the background the TV as on and a factual programme about Vets was on. A dog which had been hit by a car and suffered a broken had and leg plus other damage was brought in. The owners were talking about cost of treatment and weighing up it depended on the cost implications. The VET I was sat with said £500- 600 max. The TV vet. Came up with around £3000. Well we nearly fell off out chairs. He did say that it was becoming easier to get away with charging much higher prices due to insurance companies willing to pay them. Sad.
  9. I had the same problem. New recoil spring fixed it. A round £2.80 off estore. I got 2 as it justifies the postage cost. The bolt now slams forward rather than just closes (if that makes sense) It's really easy to change. Just remember to heat up the retaining cap to melt the locktight ( it doesn't take a lot of heat). There's a youtube vid that shows how to do it.
  10. Maybe some of it is due to all the attention on the WW1. There's another thread titled "They will not be forgotten" and the phrase Lions lead by Donkeys is used plus it is said how it was ordinary people that fought the battles. I'm not sure if the perception has moved on too much.(Not saying all officers are Donkeys, They obviously are not) My cousin left after 10 years when it started to grate on him that he had to answer (say sir) to new recruits that came in as officers. Generally the type from public school/ Oxbridge. This completely put me off having any interest in Army life unless joining as an officer. I therefore concluded that Army life just wouldn't suit me. Things may have moved on in some ways but It would make anyone think twice before joining.
  11. Holts have a calculator built into the item description. If bidding I always use this to see what I will pay and use to guide my max bid price. On auction in general. I get amused by items that fetch a total price which is pretty much thecaame as widly available In shops at the same total cost . How can that be a good deal? At least at a shop you have some come back. As with eBay my general rule is that, unless it a totally unique piece, don't bid more than around 60% of what is available from a shop. Experience has taught me you will get burnt.
  12. I have a pair I bought for shooting sporting where you tend to talk near the stand more than on a trap line whete traditional non electronic muffs are fine. I have the same issue of them clonking the stock on overhead targets which I don't get with the normal peltors. Also it takes a bit of fiddling with the volume control to get the balance right between being able to hear who your having a conversation with and hearing someone unwrap a sweet at 200 yards. TBH though they are minor niggles which doesn't detract from the fact that they are good value and worth investing in.
  13. The problem with the people who really drive support the restriction of anything is that it is made to sound reasonable. But it always the thin end of the wedge stuff that is ultimately driven by a totallian end game objective. Most reasonable people are baffled by the USA gun laws. However I can understand the stance of the NRA in the USA. Reasonable restriction ultimately becomes a blanket ban on everything.
  14. I 'm a bit surprised they didn't get Robbie Savage to join Flintoff rather than Mcguiness. They are quite entertaining together on the 5 live Monday night radio show Flintoff, Savage and the pingpong guy.
  15. I think that Clarkson and May had said there was possibly 1 series left in them before bowing out. What I liked was that although they made it look light they did things that the snowflakes would never do. Can you imagine the fall out if a countryfile presenter had been pushed into hole cut into the ice into water when arttic training to watch a cuddly seal do something cute from a safe distance. All 3 ended up in hospital for some reason. Not for minor injuries either. Don't get me going on countryfile.. or should I say petfile..
  16. Ah that's it.. I just looked it up. Still selling it I see. I Have a car with a 1zz toyota engine in and it drinks oil like George Best and Oliver Reed on a bender. Apparently it's normal according to the car forums and they are oil sensitive.. Slick 50 might help.
  17. What happened to the oil that was advertised with something like Teflon added that meant the engine would run without oil if it leaked out,?
  18. Putin.. team orders. Now there's a thing.
  19. Same here. Didn't squirm like some of the snowflakes stuck on that island with him when getting his lunch. Possibly spent far too long with da media types. Perhaps his next adventure should be to escape the TV Metro country set who believe that the world of Peter Rabbit is real.
  20. It's the modern social media way I'm afraid.. and not just on conservation. No one is allowed to say anything that goes against emotional reasoning without the risk of recieving abuse. Check mumsnet out.. it's scary..
  21. There's a video on youtube of a woman shooting an egg at 300yards with a 22lr. It took several goes to hit it but the misses weren't more than a foot away. British Archers were shooting arrows that far 400 years ago. I wonder if it's because it's a smoothbore gun. By the time it gets very far it is tumbling. Years ago there was a guy who brought an ex army 7.62 SLR to the range and couldn't hit the butts at 500 yards, never mind the target. Something didn't seem right as every few shots you could hear a fizzing sound as the bullet flew. On inspection it turned out the rifling had been worn so badly it was only just about visible.

    Alan Myers

Overton Gun club.. Where is it? I knew of a club of the same name near Morecambe but I believe it closed years ago.
  23. Despite all the bleatings of all other groupes claiming discrimination and how hard done to they say they are, suicide rates suggest this is correct.
  24. It certaimly does. There's no Geese or Ducks.
