  1. No Legal cover will take up any case if you are breaking the law . Insurance companies use any excuse not to fight cases, thats a fact .
  2. Loved the video, ignore the comment above someone cannot give a review if they do not watch the video . The intro is fine, if people do not want to watch it they can skip forwards. The information on the video itself is good, well delivered and understandable. keep making the videos and keep posting them .
  3. BASC & Co opened for a 5 year transition away form lead & single use plastics for All love quarry. The EU ban that could be relevant to us in the UK as we adopt much of this legislation is making for an outright ban by the end of 2021 It also makes it a criminal offence to have lead on your person near a wetland, a wetland is not defined so could be a puddle of water.
  4. The issue is Antique firearms being used as weapons, yes they could use a kitchen knife ? (doesn't have the same range, but effective at close quarters..) the trouble is they have chosen antique firearms... To the average person in the street a gun is a gun they do not know any different so if this reduces the impact on everyday shooters then this is a positive, there are issues with it ... cost to the legal user i agree but i fear its this or an outright ban.
  5. The alternative is that most likely they will be banned ? I agree the costs to legal shooters are unreasonable, however the security is something that is needed, if they can be stolen they can be used as a weapon and that will lead to even tighter restriction.
  6. correct yes correct, collectors can still own them but they need to be on their licence and therefore secure them. Yes this is exactly the point it has no effect on a legal owner. It does have an effect on criminals using them going forwards...
  7. This, if you are going to say something about it you should have done it there and then.
  8. Legal insurance only covers your cost in court, BASC have the best firearms teams in the shooting industry, they know the law inside out. why do you think 99% of issues are resolved with a phone call? It is because BASC set out the issue, and the force know they are correct. equally they know if it goes to court the member will get paid out and the force will also have to foot the costs.
  9. Things to note This is only a proposal ( noting agreed as yet ) The shooting organisations will work with DEFRA to have an input if such systems do come into play the same as they are doing with the GL Wild justice have conceded their JR of game bird release. (shows there case was weak) The evidence by BASC, GWCT and Natural England shows very little negative impact If shoots are over stocking and causing a negative impact they shouldn't be (we do not want them they will damage the future of shooting) Natural England already have the powers to issue stop notices on shoots and undertake impact assessments This is by no way a win for wild justice - its is exactly what they do not want "shooting is carrying on". If you need licence for your shoot and you cannot justify / evidence best practice well you probably shouldn't have one, but we are not there yet .. lets not all get too excited Blaming the GWCT, NGO, CA or BASC lets see what happens.
  10. I think you are right they will ... Because if they do not .... no one will .
  11. There is no legal requirement and this is not something we should encourage. Just go abut your business legally and enjoy your day.
  12. You seem to have your facts wrong, BASC and 8 other organisations requested a transition away from lead and single use plastic wads for all live quarry shooting. This page is about a ban. BASC opposed the ban as the purpose of the transition was to avoid legislation and to give manufacturers the chance to get suitable ammunition to the market. In the last few month we have moved forwards leaps and bounds and now there are a few manufacturers making steel shot biodegradable wads. This will help promote game as food, stop wildlife ingestion it and dying as documented by the GWCT. If nothing else we as shooters will be regarded higher by non shooting communities for the move. A ban will cover all shooting, Clay grounds also. This is not what was asked for by the organisations and why BASC oppose it. As for steel doesn't kill that is pure rubbish. As for its not as good as lead.. well it doesn't have to be - dead is dead if you are getting winged birds it is down to your shooting not your cartridge. Practice more.
  13. Oh I am sure there is... however i am sure they will also be pleased with this.. maybe its time to put the history behind us all and move on... United we stand....
  14. Great news, i am pleased BASC are taking this on. its a shame the clubs didn't use BASC in the beginning for their consenting issues they may have been better off for it, either way BASC have stepped up..
  15. BASC do offer insurance and it is still the best insurance package. https://basc.org.uk/join-basc/basc-members-insurance/
  16. How would they select who to send them too ? What would priorities one club over another ? .. Equally the shoot could buy a couple of slabs and put that in their management plan as part of their conservation work ....
  17. A great shot, I can also respect and appreciate how difficult a shot this can be.
  18. Interesting post, all i can add is that where i used to work, a guy before being our finance director worked as part of a chain of international insurance companies. His words still ring true, "if you want to make money open an insurance company, you sell a piece of paper, then when a claim is made you look for every way to avoid paying it, then you charge them more for the same piece of paper the following year" That about sums it up for me, it seems they will look for every reason not to pay out.
  19. Hi Scully, Shooting was not on the list of exempt sports, I would agree that as an organised event it could still go ahead however this means we are interpreting the legislation. Shooting is now listed, and when you click the link on the covid government website it takes you straight to the BASC covid guidance. This is due to the work of BASC. it is surely no coincidence that the guidance directed to by the government is BASCs website. Whilst we could argue that it was exempt (to which I would agree) it was not on the list, this just gives us as shooters belt and braces as it is now specified. The very reaction of the anti shooting lobbyist shows that it was an achievement .. For this i think the organisations deserve credit .. Best Wishes Terry
  20. BASC still provide the best insurance cover, 10 mil Public Liability 10 Mil Product liability 10 employer liability 250k personal accident cover Automatic humane dispatch cover They will still fight your case on firearms issues (and the firearms team and QC are the best you can get) On top of all they they fight for shooting and educate others. Yes they have made mistakes and done things wrong... however I do feel over the last few months their approach has improved only today they have got shooting specified on the list of except sports form covid regulations (fast track email just received)
