  1. Nice to see you back with the dogs, looking forwards to more videos ! Thats some spot !
  2. Ok, would love to see that if you still have it, Thanks
  3. Hi Tim. Your brothers gun is most likely a sporter if it came with extended chokes. Your gun with 28" Barrels will not feel the same with the super extended chokes as Teague chokes are so thin and light. visually it will look a little longer but will not feel the same. Yes extended chokes do protect the end of the gun and provide ease if you wanted to change chokes between stands... a full set of 5 extended chokes will set you back around £300 ... and you will not shoot any better than you do now. If the 30" browning feels better maybe you should consider a trade in and put £300 on top... you maybe able to get a gun that is 30" with extended chokes .... and if the gun fells and fits better and it better balanced ..now that may improve your shooting Good Luck Terry
  4. Great stuff, really enjoyed the first one. please to see some wildfowling on this also 👍

  6. No, not a cop out at all my point is that do these manufacturers not pay to be a member of the GTA so they can be represented? if they did not feel they were represented with their best interests at heart surly they wouldn't be a member ? if you belong to an organisation they will not consult you on every decision they make,. that kind of thinking stops anything happening My point tis that GTA must have thought it was sensible and as i understand it share information with the cartridge manufacturers, ( who on another point i don't think should be consulted they are just a supplier ) they tail does not wag the dog ....
  7. Another great response well done the GWCT, thank you for sharing can you let me know how you received this? I am a member fo the GWCT also. now where is the NGO and the CA, SACS & the SGA all organisations should be responding to these.
  8. The Sun is known for its poor coverage of any subject. its is a paper that is considered laughable by the majority i would say. I agree that where ever inaccuracies about shooting are published the shooting organisations should challenge this and if able get a factual statement published. I am please that BASC have done this.... i don't see any of the other organisations doing it though ...
  9. i thought you knew the answer... given your comment on my post? and you have responded with more questions. so you do not know. if you are a member of an organisation like the gun trade then yes they represent you. if you are not a member of basc then the issue around the lead transition will still effect your as it is a voluntary transition from all major shooting organisations, clearly they could all see the writing on the wall .. and yes that will effect us all if you are a member or not... its interesting how quick they all have them 😱 Eley gamebore Lyvale Hull in the process i believe... as well as Jocker Bio RIo in 6 months..... i think your words are pretty spot on ....
  10. is it? i thought they represented them?
  11. Not to mention that very same manufacturer released the announcement a week early .... how can you do that if you are not aware? I understand the GTA wee also involved in the transition ? they represent all cartridge manufacturers do they not ? BASC have not always got it right. But to be honest i think they are definitely head and shoulders above the rest in promoting and protecting shooting.
  12. Well said, I know many people who actually pay for pigeon shooting. I also know others who could not afford that.
  13. Commendable, thank you for the hard work put in over the year, I hope the weather clears and you are able to get the rest of your season in.
  14. So I am clear what you are saying we shouldn't show people or celebrate that we shoot because there is a pandemic? are you a shooter ? Or does your statement just relate to grouse shooting because you say afford? you sound jealous. the majority of people up on the moor will be working class folk. beater pickers keepers. with a few guns... that is who is being congratulated not just the people who fund it ... oh yes that the guns... paying for all the conservation work horrible horrible toffs.. with too much money .... giving it to people for looking after the countryside and providing work for the local community ... this is a disgrace 🤣 we shouldn't tell anybody... Many of the sick with covid will be be shooters and countrymen and women who would disagree with your ridiculous comment they would want it to be celebrated and go on.. i do not understand your statement regarding "Brought a ban years closer" how ..by telling people how much conservation work goes on behind the scenes each year.. The sun will post what they want..always have no one takes it seriously .
  15. Below is a quote direct from the university / cranfield- on steel shot ricochets All shot can ricochet. This is most likely to occur off rocks or other hard surfaces and, to a lesser extent, water and trees. There is evidence that steel ricochets slightly more than lead, but this is in a more predictable path [1]. The fact remains that an unsafe shot with lead is an unsafe shot with steel. [1] – Ricochet & Bounce Back Studies Using Steel & Lead Shot: Dr DF Allsop, Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, Cranfield University (2009). Not sure about the second half of your post. i said i do not believe that the pictures i have seen in the past are real along with Motty. We asked to see some to have a look. nothing has been supplied as yet. ....
  16. On the Barrel under the CIP sign that looks like a "Fleur de Lis" This will be steel proof for HP steel. if multi choke shoot half choke or less.
  17. steel patterns tighter than lead. Biowads perform more like plastic wads than fibre. I speak of both in experience. Yes of course, you do not know me from adam the thread is regarding steel damaging your guns.. it is now expanding into bore regulation and steel and biowads. Shoot or don't shoot the choice will be yours... if i was you i would use bismuth if you are so concerned with steel
  18. No it won't damage your gun if you do as guided.. Have the chokes taken out to half, generally steel patterns tight so it will be comparable to shooting full choke - failing that shoot bismuth no adjustments needed. Your last sentence is probably the main crux of your issue, however had they not done anything there's a good chance a ban would be in sooner rather than later and we would all have major issues. for instance there would be no suitable cartridges for the majority of guns. It has given the cartridge manufacturers the kick up the A ** they need to get producing suitable cartridges for all. You can already get ammunition from eley, gambore, jocker, bio ammo, and rio ammo. in 5 months... where will we be in 5 years.. Mr packman has made it clear in the latest field sports journal that he wants a ban on lead now. I am sure he will be pushing for this. I think we have been bought some time and over the next 4 years we need to find out what works for us and work with the manufacturers to get what we need at the right price. it is going to happen either way, it is better that we lead the change than an outright ban.
  19. Because that the guidance set out by manufacturers. Many people put steel through tighther chokes and no damage as i understand it.. i do not i stick to the guidance the reason is steel does not compress as it goes down the constriction like lead. if your chokes are less than Half you will have no issue. if you choose not to comply ... well thats up to you.. its no different from putting a 67mm cartridge in a 65mm chamber... up to you if you need your chokes opening up whip to a gunsmith for around £60 done. if the walls are too thin it can't be opened up should you be shooting it at all ,...?
  20. My point remains that steel will not damage your gun. hence the new eley load in 2.5" for old traditional guns. Ask me again next year as i will have used them and can confirm if what i say is true. 👍
  21. You should be because i use the same gun with steel at other quarry I shoot thousands of rounds through my browning- STEEL ONES at live quarry including game It kills and there is no damage to the gun. 👍 Mc, we asked to see the pictures so far none have been presented. the question was asked by Motty and i agree. i have not seen any damage to any guns in the decades that i have been shooting by steel As per my post yes harder material does ricochet more but it also penetrates more. however an unsafe shot is just as unsafe with lead as this also ricochets. To add ricochets in most cases unless standing in close proximity have lost the majority of velocity and pose no huge threat. Just more scaremongering. bounce back? from what .. how close is your quarry ?
