  1. Saw the video on youtube produced with our Ranger Jerri on red squirrel protection and culling greys. Super film. Just came across it.
  2. Certainly got a good view of the multi millionair Nancy Pelosi and it is not a pretty picture.
  3. Advanced tree rat stalking course ????????????
  4. Our Socialist Snowflakes seem to ignore such Lloyd90. They are still smarting big time because Trumpy won and didn't let the Clinton Clan back in the Whitehouse.
  5. I have noticed in the last few outings that they are dodging about sniffing the ground. The ones I shot this morning ..1female went straight for the food but the male was rushing around up and down every tree, eventually had to body shoot at about 5yrds. Mating maybe. ???? Had one come into the hide with me...eyeball to eyeball !!!!
  6. Pull up on youtube ..."Here comes the video Pelosi and Schumer want to hide ...Hannity on Fox." Lots of fake news on that for you as well. I'm not clever enough to put a link on but no doubt aomeone could. Makes interesting watching.
  7. The apples I put out Saturday, have already been chewed over. An old picture but evidence apples are a favorite food when available.
  8. Spent a lot of time in South Texas, not many Dems down in that area and all of my friends either conceal or open carry at all times. It is a huge problem and of course a physical barrier is just one aspect of securing the border, but a major preventative measure. One wonders why Obama found it necessary to build a wall around his home ? I suppose that's different.
  9. Peck....it is the Democrats who are holding the USA to ransom not Trumpy. He is doing what the people asked him to do and is supported by ALL the Border agents, Border Police and 99.99% of the folks who live anywhere near that border. The Democrats don't care about all and sundry pouring into the country, all they want is POWER and their plan , like the immigrants being allowed into the EU is that they hope they will become Democrat voters. I was in Texas back in 1985 and stayed at a shooting lodge close to the border, wet backs were a serious problem then and that week a security guard had been shot and killed near Laredo. My host made me carry a sidearm every time I went for a walk on the ranch....... note...that was in 1985 !! Things have seriously gone downhill since then. The wall is essential and if you have not been along that border you have no idea of the problem.
  10. Was just about to pull the plug this evening as my supper was planned for 6..30p. I had one last scan with the BOBLOV and there about 80yrds away was a big fox mousing, going along like a badger oblivious to the banging and crashing and loud talk from the new build cattle sheds just behind me. I swapped to the DaveG NV pulled in the magnification lined up and my phone vibrated...it was the young farmer texting....."that sounded promising!!!!" he was in the shed behind me causing all the noise. Went over and found it was a sizeable dog fox in pristine condition. 22Bench Rest 55g V Max does not take prisoners, nasty big hole on the exit side, job done. 15
  11. 100% agree. I never leave my peg until I have connected with at least one picker up and very often they will come over and tell me they picked a bird i didn't think I hit.....happened with four birds on a VERY windy day this season, screaming birds and a following wind took them 200yrds behind before they folded. That was very much appreciated. I was always brought up to make sure the pickers up knew hwere I had dropped a bird or birds ....I sometimes hit at least one. I don't care how much every other gun rushes off to the gun bus, until I am happy every bird is accounted for I don't move. Unfortunately see it so often these days.....it's like guns asking should they wear a tie or tweeds etc. We will soon all be turning up in track suit bottoms and hoodies.
  12. Another one on a short visit to one flip top feeder this morning. 55
  13. Work great on the back of an ATV/garden tractor. Pity your so far away.
  14. I have just skinned that last muntjac I shot and found that the neck and shoulder area was peppered with #5 shot. There really are total idiots about and in this case in the area between, Netherseal, Lullington, Rosliston and Overseal. Only one pellet fortunately had penetrated flesh all the others lodged beneath the skin. We have discussed on here if someone has the experience to have a rifle and this begs the question, are there people out there who should not have access to shotguns.?? The shot was well spread which tend to indicate it was fired at some distance as well.
  15. Yep the forms are expensive but most are imports from the USA, so add 18% EU imprt tarrif onto the price as well as VAT. It is not difficult to make your own if you have a litle artistic ability and know what the animal should look like. Use the skull as a basis for your measurements. It takes whole load of patience.
  16. quote....''it's clean and tidy inside'' ....you obviously are not out shooting enough
  17. 100% success with this but agree with oowee. I normally will give a couple of open 'squeeks' then muffle the caller and vary the pitch. It certainly winds 'em up and had one I thought was going to jump on the back of the truck one day as it snook round behind me. Unusual because normally they will bark, this one didn't, just came sneeking in, turned and quietly walked away just offering a Texas Heart Shot so lived for another day. Good fun.
  18. As said in a separate thread, I have taken out supposed 'educated' stalkers, who couldn't wait to tell me they had a DSC2 and it didn't take me long to come to the conclusion they shouldn't have a rifle either. Had one take a shot at a deer through a gap in a slingy wood into broad daylight the nearest background probably two miles away and running alongside the wood was a footpath. Unfortunately even within the firearms/shotgun fraternity there are the good the bad and the ugly.
  19. As said by Walshie, the FEO has to use his own judgement but there is nothing to stop him making his own local enquiries. In the old days when the local rural bobby (I was one) signed off the applications , he knew everybody on his patch, but those days have gone. The applicant can only shoot one rifle at a time and to be honest the 22RF is probably the most dangerous and every likelyhood that would be the one they would approve.
  20. I find that I can take about ten or a dozen off a feeder then they go quiet. I just make sure they stay full and check the levels and within a week they are being used again but often then the take will be three or four, then quiet again. Smart animals and amazes me how quickly they find how to lift that lid. Saw an obvious newcome climb up one morning and start to investigate. It didn't take it more than a minute to find it could push the lid up and help itself. Counting my own cabins I have seven locations within a 15 minute drive, so alternate them as activity starts to show on the cameras or my Forest Ranger (wife) reports an intruder. Things look like they are hotting up for a busy month ahead, lots of activity. A small farm shoot is planning to put a feeder on the corner of a wood and I can see that will be an eighth location. As they say, watch this space.
  21. Don't know what make mine is but more a maul than an axe with a 'plastic' probably fibreglass handle. Do not use it that much as I have a 4ft long 5 inch diamter ram which sorts most splitting problems out for me. One thing with the splitting maul it has a flat face on the back and can be used as a lightweight sledge hammer....duel purpose so to speak.
  22. Just purchased a full box of desert apples from my farm shop for £6, having used all the remaining fallings in my orchard. I must have put out a 100lbs of mixed fallings in the last thre weeks and they have all gone and I have a multitude of pictures on my trail cam, unfortunately mostly at 3 to 4 am but they are there and as my picture above shows they will come to apples in the day time. I also have them sneeking in and stealing peanuts from under my flip top tree rat feeder ...a bit much for my AA S200. They also come to pheasant feeders for corn so a few heaps of whole maize might also work with the apples. Check out your local farm shop if they sell fruit and they might be willing to throw all the damage or slightly over ripe ones in a tub for you in exchange for a haunch. Worth a try.
  23. I shoot UK7s almost exclusively these days and put 'em in the pattern job done. I had some Fiochi 8s ..UK 7.5s and they also did the job. Having said that my kill ro shot ratio stayed about the same with Hull High Pheasant factory #6s ....does the bird really notice I ask myself. NSI are a new cartridge to me , never seen them offered around here. I relaod almost all of mine these days but would but a slab just to see how the empties turned out. They look like a Clever case
  24. Have seen a lot in the air when down that way in the evening. Well done a bit of effort pays off. Don't go knocking 'em about too hard or they'll clear off somewhere else. I'm assuming this is on my old stomping ground of 60yrs ago ??? Enjoy.
