  3. I might just have a use for that...it certainly will not go to waste or get chewed by a dog for sure. Let me know the postage. Nice offer, thank you.
  4. Half crown sixpence job that. Pleased you did not get hit by the debris. Keep us updated.
  5. Brownells sell two or three different ones, but as said above a bit of a pain.
  6. Many moons ago you could get a catcher for the Remmy 1100 model, like a small bag which I would say would retain five or more shells with ease. Try going on Shooters Forum in the USA as there maybe someone over there who could locate one. That is where I saw them. I have never seen one here either for purchase or in use.
  7. Pretty certain it is willow, probably known as 'crack willow' but there are many varieties all with slightly differing leaf shapes. Yes, log it up and leave it to dry out for at least a year and it will burn well. It will obviously dry faster logged and split. Stack on an old pallet and cover it but let the air get around the sides. Leave it on the ground and it will likely take root. BUT not advised for open fires as it has a tendency to spit. In a log burner it is ok and burns well. I have about a ton drying at this moment and another ton to coppice.
  8. Agree wholeheartedly with the above. Don't have kids but those that do should be able to make sure their kids are set on the right road for the future and not expect handouts left right and centre, there again I have always said that child allowance should be paid to the first two after that the third nothing and if you have a fourth then you must be rich enough so lose/repay what was paid for the second.
  9. Yep, good idea. I'm into a system now however and happy with the result. The main reason I weigh my powder is to get as near to the weight as my scales will allow becaue 410 oads are so much smaller than say 12 or even 20 gauge that just a small amount/discrepency using a bushing system can make a bigger % difference. I load various rifle hunting loads as well so weighing each is not a chore. I also found that loading any shot size larger than 8s caused hang ups in the drop tube and pouring to a known height in the case produced much better crimping results.
  10. Have not had a TV in my home for 32 years but still get threatening letters. Just think how much it costs to just chase the people like me never mind staff the licensing department alone. I always write a nice long letter explaining why I do not have a TV....give 'em something to do. For those of you who do have and enjoy TV then yes, I fully agree it should be funded the same as all the other channels. Makes me very angry when I read about the unbelievable amounts paid out to so called 'stars'.
  11. 410s are pretty fickle on powder charges and that is one reason I weigh every charge as I could never get a consistent powder feed with SP3 which is a very fine ball powder and tended to 'leak'. I have never used Lilgun so do not know it's texture.....anyway Stonepark is correct underlining 'always' and I would go the extra mile and say check every 10th drop, but that is based on my experience with SP3 and 110 which is a more flaky texture, didn't leak but seemed to settle in the bush according to the differing vibrations as the press worked. A couple of wet afternoons enabled me to load just over 300 weighing each powder charge.
  12. With you all the way but I some times believe we lack 'INSTINCT' on some days. Think of that woodcock flitting across a woodland ride, no warning, silent as a ghost, the gun movement is a blurr and the bird folds, you have absolutely no memory about aiming and such, pure INSTINCT. Used to do a fair bit in handgun training where 1 second exposure targets appeared anywhere in the line and needed a double tap. It was amzing how well you could shoot when your brain didn't get too involved.
  13. Rats and squirrels I like standing stock still and that way I can put one right in the cranium and to be honest out to 20yrds the rat squirrel will be dead with and decent pellet. I use Webley Mosquito Express in my AA S200 (14.35) a) because they are the most accurate in my rifle b) they do the job in spades when they arrive.
  14. Looks a lot like old limewash what we called whitewash and used to do the inside walls of our cowsheds with. Haven't a clue how to get it off but do know it will have impregnated every crevise.
  15. I go back to the good old days...remember them ???? The new E type Jag came out and the stick on plate arrived which of course did not comply with the law. The difference then was we had at least five patrols cars and m/bikes out just in our Division. Was not long before a new Jag owner got a ticket and it hit the fan. Every time I go out I see a serious dangerous situation much more important than one of these 'Poser Plates' but they are far to busy in Leicestershire anyway teaching officers how not to cause each other hurt by their turn of phrase to be out looking for offenders. Warwickshire Police are also supposed to be cash strapped but could afford to have two fully matked police vans and three personel to put a small speed awareness sign on a lamp post on the A5 at Dordon the other day.
  16. Weigh it. I load a fair few 410s and gave up dropping powder and shot. I now use the 600 press for decapping resizing/recapping, putting the wad in and crimping. I weigh individually the powder and pour shot to a point I know will give me a good neat crimp and this works out at 18.7g of 7s in 3 inch cases...just one more shot will put it over 19g, so i don't believe the bird will notice. Better to get a tidy finish.
  17. Had probably 25-30 regularly showing in my 10 acre wood, early morning and evening. In the last seven days non, absolutely zero, definitely RHD. It wipes them out very quickly and the majority die in the burrows. Last year by now on a couple of areas I was well into 200 shot, this year same areas 6.
  18. Love it..brilliant idea. I have the drawing board all ready Now where would I find a traffic cone ?
  19. Not sure you would get a good sized turkey in a traffic cone. It would be possible to make a couple of cones different sizes, turkeys/geese and chickens/cappons/ducks. Not rocket science.
  20. Ben, if you do not require it in stainless and happy to give it a few coats of paint yourself I can see no problems. I am just off the M42/A444 junction. Just give me the dimensions you need. I can run up a mild steel tripod and roll a cone and finding the steel box section from Mid Steels Off Cuts section it should not be at huge expense. I have some 1/8th by 2 inch stuff I can make the ring from in my scrap pile. Suggest make the ring weld on some 12mm box stubs 4 inches long and then the legs can slide on and a bolt through job done. I just need some measurements.
  21. 1976 heat wave was followed by heavy rain and snow which turned fields into swamps in January with tractors up to their cabs trying to work fields, so would not be a bit surprised if we get the same this time. I have had three maybe four season shooting without a wet day. My first day this year on 11th Sept was wet, so is that an omen?
  22. What do they class as public land ? Common land ? Council owned farms ? Forestry Commision land ? Yes, could be the thin end of the wedge ..... public footpaths
