  1. SOLD I'll pick it up TT. Tell me again where your new unit is.
  2. Would go with that suggestion. Friend just purchased an electric bike brand new for £400 for every day use. The Yeti is a nice motor and I looked for ages for a second hand one for my wife but specifically wanted a red or yellow and they where like rocking horse droppings. There again a petrol Jimny with a LPG tank / conversion would be a consideration.
  3. Good idea and well thought out. Hope they go like hot cakes
  4. Tidy job but I was also going to ask .... Airline proof ??
  5. Sounds good but will be ...hopefully....shooting ducks on that day. Good set up there so I hear.
  6. I would have thought 30mill heavy gauge would be adequate. I would add some cross braces or at least some corner plates. All properly welded of course.
  7. Great story and one I can relate to. I still have my Grandfathers old BSA sidelock 12 gauge and although it has a few bumps and bings to the woodwork and the bluing has rubbed off after over 70yrs of use, I still take it out once a season and it brings back many happy memories of a childhood during those years just after WW2, dozens of coveys of wild grey partridge in the mangols and turnip fields or bursting from the potatoe rows as my little legs struggled to keep up with the line. Thank you very much for bringing back those memories and hope you continue to have the same.
  8. Many moons ago I had an argument with a Home Office 'Expert' on a similar basis. At the time I was a serving police officer, tactical firearms and sniper with the force which he did not know. He had no practical knowledge whatsoever. It seems they are still of the same ilk in some forces. Get full written replies as said and don't back down. They are wrong in all respects. I had the pleasure of shooting one day with a fine gentleman in his 80s, sharp as a razor and a crack shot. I asked what he did, was he retired etc., and he turned out to be the owner of the local private coach company. He said some clip board wizard had visited his offices and made an assesment that he didn't have the up to date paperwork to drive coaches and he would have to take a course and pass a test. He had been driving coaches, accident free since he was 17yrs old. He 'gently' told the clip board wizard where to stick his course and test and no longer drives his own coaches. These numpties do not only reside in the Home Office and Upper Floors of police HQs. It is imperative that BASC follows up these ridiculous actions.
  9. Hmmmmm ???? One of the reasons we went to clip on ties was the danger of being throtled by conventional ties in a struggle.
  10. The Yanks have been doing just this for years but I have not seen a UK version. My pal in the US had one which you simply disconnected the electrics(plug) unclipped the retaining clips and lowered the legs which had ratchets on so you could just lift it off the bed. Drive carefully forward and the unit stood there on it's own ....bed was clear. Just googled and a firm called NorthStar do just as described above for sale in the UK.
  11. Time to stock up then as said.
  12. Thanks I will make enquiries, see if it is feasible. Getting it on ticket is only a matter of paperwork.
  13. If everyone was doing that the target would easily be passed We just have to keep hitting'em where we can. Birds being released now so pheasant feeders will be my main target.
  14. Not my walnuts !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Interesting I am just comparing my kills betwen 1st July and 30th Sept last year and this year so far ...I am already on 25 for same period. Last year I was only on 15 to now but 26 by the end of Sept. There are certainly more about. Dog marked one today but could not see it so tomorrow morning at day break.
  15. 2000 has to be the target.
  16. I am shooting the 10.34 Heavy Diablos at the moment and within range they work very well and very accurate in my TX. A touch more punch would be handy on occasions and if I put a hole through a tree rats ribs it ain't going far. In some instances they just do not sit still for more than a few seconds and a rib/body shot is the only way to go ...hop hop hop smack !! if you know what I mean. I'm using my 17HMR at the moment in those circumstances but the air rifle would be better/quieter close to habitation/cattle/ brood mares etc. It is just finding that balance between standard 12ftlb and the HMR. Too risky to use the 22RF.
  17. Just run a check through some of my loads and found that N165 gave the best results. H4831 RL 19 and 22 are also listed as usuable but don't be hooked on this 'must have highest velocity' to get best accuarcy as it is almost always not true. I always found that the 130gr bullet worked best in the 270, like it was made for it. I'm a fan of Nosler but now turn to Barnes TTSX for most of my cartridges. V Max for the 22s.
  18. As I said I admire your industry and agree wholeheartedly with having a go and wish you well and great success. You always need a doom merchant to bring you down to earth sometimes. Been there a number of times. Had a business man once give me a bit of advice ... " Sell to the masses and eat with the classes, sell to the classes and you'll eat alone."
  19. To judge a load I shoot 3 shot groups and do it by loading five sets of five at a 10th grain intervals up to maximum in the book. I shoot these from a good rest at 100yrds at five targets ... just black crosses on white card/paper one for each load. Then I shoot one shot in sequence at each target until all three are done. Then I go and look at the result and choose the best group. Fliers are my fault not the rifle so ignore them. You will find the groups are like a graph and it is not always the max load that shoots best but the deer will not notice. Your choice of Accubond is good. Excellent bullet. The system above allows you to compare the same powder at different loads in the same conditions. As Vince as said, very occasionally a barrel just will not shoot a particular bullet but I would not believe this is your problem. The main reason I shoot just three shot groups is there is less chance I will slightly snatch one ...we all do occasionally ....if I shoot more and if three holes appear nicely together then in my view thats as good as five doing the same. My instructor used to say.." trust your rifle not your own judgement" ....very true as we are just humans and don't like admitting we fowled up.
  20. Buy a 410 and learn to shoot straight.
  21. If the evasion is legal then they are not in any way to blame. I am against the 'general' handing out of knighthoods to all and sundry just because they happen to be celebrities. There are probably a number amongst our forum chums who deserve one more than the likes of Beckham, although I do admire the way he has handled his life compared with other footballers and sportsmen.
  22. Did this thirty years ago and had a selection of cuff link emblems. Found that not sufficient cuff link users to make it viable. I admire your industry but I am very sceptical as to how many you are going to sell to cover outlay and make a living.
  23. Is this in the ground ? If so nice and handy to pour in a pint of petrol and strike a match. Done it many times . I tape a coke can to a long stick to pour the petrol. A line prop will do fine and then attach a bit of paper to light it.
  24. Feral birds and I have a friend in South London who has been thinning them down in Kent for a number of years but like many verminous things town and citiy gardens are a breeding ground particularly when your percieved to be pretty.
