  1. Golden rule, never hand your weapon to anyone without checking they have the relevant certificate to possess such a weapon.
  2. I've looked at the shooter King vests before but always been a little confused by the sizing system. I'm a joe average 5 ' 11" tall 34" waist 40" chest and the size guide suggests a size small in the chest to a medium in the waist. Has anybody got any real world experience of the fit and sizes?
  3. https://cattyshack.co.uk/ Give Wayne Martins website a look above.
  4. Derek Lees at Tumby near Coningsby are fantastic, we have bought from them for 30 years.
  5. The ATA's may be worth a look also, they seem to carry a decent reputation for a lower budget.
  6. Absolutely, same goes for lead as well, all the difference between uk and continental sizes, just state it in mm then no ambiguity. I like a 2.75mm for game shooting nice compromise of pattern volume and hitting power for average game shooting.
  7. I also have a slab of the same in 3's but when you cut one open it has 4's inside anyway when you check the shot size. What is also strange I had a single box of eley grand prix 4's and they were proper 4's inside. The box says 3's but the shot was the same as everyone else's 4's. They appear to have corrected in now though as they now advertise them as 4's.
  8. If you want warm dry hands go for sealskinz. If you want grip in the wet use macwets. I have a pair of both, I bought the sealskinz with the solid trigger finger rather than the fold back one and love them, but they are only just small enough to shoot in. Macwets ae like second skin for fit.
  9. In time they'll polish up and be fine to clean. I've had my dt11 about 5 years now and it was just the same for a start, took loads of soaking and scrubbing even with a drill and bronze through it. Then it's gradually got easier to clean the more I've shot it, now it only takes a couple of scrubs with a hand bronze and a patch or two and she's spotless.
  10. I've used tetra quite a bit but found it bad for separating in the tube, needed kneading each time to mix it. Use napier grease now.
  11. Now that the consultation period has closed, does anyone know when we are expecting the HSEs verdict/ recommendations? Are we talking weeks, months, years?
  12. I was told mirokus pit the firing pins because there aren't return springs on them, so when they hit the primer there isn't a spring to pull it back away again. The pin then effectively welds itself to the primer temporarily.
  13. DT11 all the way, absolutely world class guns, as above go for 2016 onwards, if need be check the stamped barrel weight, think mine are 2017 32" and weigh 1515 gram.
  14. My dad has a left handed beretta 694 and it's a superb bit of kit. I think beretta have got them pretty much spot on. Nice weight, good rib, changeable recoil pad, balancing system, nice grip and palm swell and different drop at heal options for the stock. His shoots great.
  15. I believe it to be the type of butt pad that is on the gun maybe the problem as I have the same. I have a beretta dt11 with the micro pore butt pad that slides into position really well, I then got an mkgame 20 bore with the pachmeyr butt pad and it kept sticking grabbing on my vest as I tend to slide my gun into position. Answer for me was to stick with a beretta gun with the micro pore butt pad or fit a recoil systems green pad or x pad to the miroku. The green pad/ x pad also slide pretty well because of the leatherette finish and don't grab on your clothes. In the end I put the miroku up for sale and just stuck with the 12 bore dt11.
  16. I shoot 1/4 and 1/4 in my beretta and it covers sporting and sportrap more than adequately. A good sporting score isn't made by shooting the occasional 4 targets at 60 yards, it's done by shooting the other 96% of targets well that 1/4 is more than open enough for. I'm certainly not good enough to shoot 3/4 and full and sure it would cost me targets over the course of a round.
  17. Could be that production has been channeled recently into game cartridge production ready for start of the season, may find that clay cartridges come available again shortly once they've got the game loads out the door.
  18. I heard a few years ago miroku barrels were bad to work on because of the chrome lining. Something about tools jamming in the barrels easily.
  19. If you want adjustability and can afford it get teague to put their thin wall multi chokes in, it is a lot dearer than taking out fixed chokes though but we'll worth the money. Otherwise think about taking it to 1/2 & 3/4 first and shooting it for a bit, then maybe taking it out again if it's still too tight.
  20. Eley CT20 24 gram for clays, lovely smooth cartridge and nearly the cheapest going. Any of the hull or eley game cartridges are excellent.
  21. My father in law has one and he's been very pleased with it, great all round gun if you shoot clays and game.
  22. Possibly pretty recently. I have a 2017 dt11 that is optima hp, steelium pro barrels and it's not steel shot proofed. Yet there are plenty of 2015 models and earlier that are. Always worth checking individual guns.
  23. I think as long as you buy steel shot proof and multi choke, no reason not to buy a new gun. I would be looking at 12 rather than 20 maybe as well, all this non toxic mallarky might not go well with the 20 gauges for cartridge choice and cost.
  24. All a little bit of a trek but there is Roy Martin near Lincoln, Derek Lees near horncastle, Elderkins near in spadling, not sure if Simon at premier guns bores chokes out.
