  1. Aye that’s the one John Norris!
  2. Good work on the bush craft you’ll be making a fire and cooking them on it soon! Mind you it will mean lugging a frying pan with you!
  3. If there £159.00 ones from uttings I got some last year, I’ve been up helvelyn and surrounding peaks (fine weather) in them and did five peaks around buttermere, 14 miles and over 5000ft in some heavy rain and they performed well, dry and comfortable, they have come in for a fair bit of criticism on PW for leaking/coming apart but I’m hoping I’ve either got lucky or they have resolved the issues
  4. Glad you got on better with your hushpower, and I think that 50% is very good, as you say it’s a very different picture with one of those on the end of your gun plus the extra weight/length
  5. On a recent outing on rape we had steady trade in the morning not helped by a low lying mist, with a lull from one till two, just thinking about packing up and had a flurry of activity till three that boosted the bag, they came in regardless of the shooting, can only think the amount of gas guns going off all round helped us
  6. Great write up and shooting Jdog, pattern looks good what self respecting pigeon could resist!
  7. Thank you gents! I do love shooting it, I reckon it will get out more in February, those sound nice marsh man, I could fill my cabinet with such guns!
  8. Yes! It rare for me to get out with a gun on a Sunday but I don’t think I was even missed! Your not wrong oowee! It’s not a gun for big day in the hide but perfect for just such an outing
  9. There is loads of osr around our part of the world MM and it seems to be block drilled on several farms, up to two weeks ago there where very few if any gas guns out and I watched pigeons in there hundreds leave there roost (next to four fields of rape)and fly maybe two miles over acres of rape to get to one maybe 20 acre field, since then all those fields have guns and the flocks are smaller and are trying to feed in quiet corners of several fields, I’d image after February 1st even more gas guns will be deployed and the focus will be on any field un able to have one due to houses/livestock, so yes I’d agree that osr has the upper hand
  10. Great write up MM and nice to put a face to the name the other week! Good to get out and gorge on your sport knowing you’ve got to get your nose to grindstone for a bit!
  11. Great mixed bag and pictures, in a stunning place, and the nice thing is you don’t seem to take any of for granted, thanks for posting
  12. Great little session and a nice reward for all the time and miles you put in!
  13. Great job P.c! As has been said seeing big flocks around here but pinning them down is nigh on impossible!
  14. Good work that man! And a nice gun, you deserve to treat yourself and I reckon it will account for a lot of pigeons!
  15. Inspired by Agamans gun christening thread and not having a lot of success decoying rape recently I thought a spot of roost shooting was on the cards this evening. I’d breasted six brace of pheasants and brace of French that I’d been gifted and was in the wood for 3pm, it’s a small old wood with a couple of high ash trees surrounded by elder and hawthorn, nothing to look at but the pigeons seem to like it. I though I’d take my old hammer gun as it hasn’t had outing for a fair while, I purchased it from our resident gun peddler wabbitbosher a couple of years ago and I’d seen Jdog recently and he had asked if I’d been using it as I’d dropped in at his on the way back from Kettering to buy it and christened it roost shooting with him! There wasn’t a jot of wind and there’s no rape in the immediate area so I wasn’t confident of a shot but as often said it just nice to be out, but they obliged and came in ones and twos some landing some wizzing over, I stayed till 4:15 with 10 pigeons for 21 shots, a ratio helped by two for one! Not a huge amount but I’ve recently sat for four hours for 5 pigeons (all be it a crop protection exercise) so it felt like a busy hour and a quarter!
  16. My book arrived yesterday and looks to be an interesting read, thanks again OB your a good man!
  17. Awww thankyou! As it happens I’m off Tuesday, not sure I can help work them out mind, but any plants you need a hand identifying I’m your man!
  18. Yes it would be nice to see you, pigeons have been hard to come by on my patch so I’ve been looking for new perms, have you shot all yours?
  19. Wow I’ve never won anything either! Ooh I tell I lie I Won an Easter egg at screwfix last year! Thanks very much OB and Walshie for pointing it out, also I’d like to thank Jdog for all his support! Pm inbound OB!
  20. 18 today takes my total to 833 this year pw total 4162
  21. Could it be a grouse gun with tighter choke in the right barrel? 1 1/4oz just means it can take 34g load it would be nice if it is 2 3/4” chamber but I’d get it checked
  22. Great report as ever PC, I bet there was some nice sporting birds in that 34, shame about the picture thing, that’s passed me by, mind you only 34 birds between you and the camera that would virtually a selfie!
  23. You can beat it can you!? Just a bit more wind would be nice, but it’s lovely weather at the mo and beautiful land in Jdog’s neck of the woods!
  24. I can imagine after 5hrs looking that was frustrating, but well done you two for still making a bag from slim pickings, and mystery solved of the strange tyre tracks eh!?
