  1. Well written and very sound advice
  2. Cabelas northern flight is good.
  3. Wonder how these would compare to their modern rivals
  4. Yes the HYMAX were a very good cartridge in their day, I shot lots of them. Then went over to HULL ULTRAMAX as I liked them even more.
  5. This one is in the case for my 20 bore, I wonder how many different ones there are ? This is my favourite one Yours must predate 1875, as there is no mention of winning in that year!
  6. Shame they do not make the one on the left anymore 'Guaranteed accuracy' I would use nothing else!
  7. Yes, but these were very long shadows and looked out of place, sounds odd I know but that was all I changed and it worked!
  8. Very true, one morning on fresh sown barley, everything was going well and the birds were coming like they were on rails, then a rook got to about 70 yards and turned back when this happened twice more I got out of the hide. It was clear that my decoys ( on 12" sticks ) were casting shadows in the early low sun, took them all off the sticks, got back in the hide and the birds started coming in again! I do not think a pigeon would have noticed this.
  9. Think that applies to all! You can decoy them to where they want to be or to where they do not mind being, if they do not want to be there you could put out 200 decoys and they will still not land.
  10. This is an interesting thread, have not looked inside this box for years.
  11. Very sad, as I believe AYAs pair for life.
  12. I wonder what happened to No.1 of the pair ? And being a pair I assume there should be a makers case for them.
  13. Now that is a gun I would like to own
  14. I hope to find an AYA Model 56 being sold as an £800 No.2, bet it never works that way around.
  15. And on Gunstar there is a Countryman pretending to be a 722, but it is a good price for a good condition Countryman.
  16. The stock from the No.2 3" Showing the same attention to detail as the one from 1964, this was however a replacement stock, anyone know who the stocker was?
  17. If you mean the one for sale in Hampshire selling for £1,950 it is a model 722 and not a No.2 hence the lack of engraving.
  18. Keep us posted on your quest to find your Sidelock, good looking Webley.
  19. Then there is good old Winchester that put of some their cartridges in a box of 150 ( 6 boxes of 25 ) and three of these in a brown box to make 450 for shipping! Work that one out
  20. Only thing I found that kills it is Finale 150 it contains Glufosinate-ammonium
  21. Many years ago Rottweil did loose cartridges in a box 200-250 or something like that. Guess it is easier to have a machine that packs 25 in a box, rather than one that has to count ?
  22. Yes I will do, the old AYA is looking better by the day, so can I stay a Side By Side Club member now?
  23. Very true , it is only a discolouring of the finish and a strip and refinish will have it back to 'new'.Well that has been my experience others may have had a different one!
