  1. To o b & Motty thank you for your kind words on my answer to the kit/pigeon question its a pitty we cant me face to face you stick to your way (what a pair of merchant bankers)
  2. Hello Motty if you watch pigeons feeding there is all ways add up to an even number so I was saying if you add a odd number of decoys you will get 1 come along to make it even again hope this helps and if there are no bushes trees or ditches then you going to stick out like a sore thumb because the birds arnt use to anything being there making yourself as small as possiable I shot geese laying nearly on my back with just a back support at about a 45 deg angle I not anti net just trying to lighten the load I dear say were you are its pretty flat in places and you do have areas that have none of the above you wrote about all I can say is try and make something that you can leave for a few days so at lease they might take no notice when you do go out all the best good shooting
  3. Hello over the years I have slowly took less and less kit I found that pigeons are always in even numbers if you have 3 on the ground with in a few mins there be 4 or 6 so I only take 7 decoys if I take a bouncer then I put out 6 on the ground net wise sit still in the bushes or under a tree that works for me as well the seat one with a back but lightweight a flask of something cartridges 2 belts joined to make a 50 across the shoulder 25 in the bag and about 20 in my pockets 95 in all this time of year I take my 16 bore as round my way there not many about but in saying that I took 3 cradels with 3 decoys and came home with 9 + a jackdoor also theres no weight in the cartridges or gun unlike my 12 all this above fits into a fishing shoulder bag with the bouncer pole tied to the seat and carried on the shoulder as well if you want big bags you don't need big kit as you still got to carry your dead birds as well at a 1lb to 1 1/4 lb each is not much fun so sit down a give it some though what you need to take do I need all those poles why not tie string on the ends tie each end to the surrounding bushes so you might only need one pole for the middle all the battery operated equipment as well leave it at home and try the old way you might be find it works if pigeons want to come in they will all the gear in the world wont make them come to you I shot fields in the past when someone has have all the gear going round and round I put out my 5 or 7 and done better I carried bergans in the brecons so I don't want to do it in my old age sorry to you all about the spelling but school was a place to go in the 50s not to learn all the best to you all happy shooting
  4. Hello well I got to say it its only a film give a thought to the real people that have and are going through this its not all about shooting there is an emotional side as well that people have to live with as well the trouble with films is they don't show people ****** them self when a bullet comes to close for comfort enjoy it by all means but remember it might be based on fact but its made in Hollywood thank you for taking your time in reading this (ex)
  5. Hello it looks like Birmingham nitro proof marks for 1925 the give away is the BV/BP LONDON have CP and a hand with a sword for the nitro proof mark also the diamond with the 12 over the C if the other mark is 1 1/8 (32 grams)that's the max load and I would have though its 2 1/2 chambers for if its 2 3/4 the load would be 1 1/4 (36 grams) the 13/1 is choke the 16? and the other mark I cant see I might be the chamber size ? the choking prob full(tight) in the left and 1/4 or cyl in the right hope this helps all the best
  6. Hello gunman I apologize for my rant yes I was a bit ruffled but welshwarrior seams that he knows you quit well and just for the welshwarrior record what I did for a living dose not come in to it I am of welsh decent myself I did my bit for the queen (1970s) and if he thinks this is whining you want to spend some time on the Brecon Rant finished end of
  7. well thank you Mr expert I like your way of putting things right when someone is only trying to help out pity you did not tell the person when he first posted his problem instead of letting other people try THEN COME IN

  11. Hello Holloway there is some one on e-bay selling a set of sling swivels (a set) for over and overs I think you might have to have a good look at them to see if they will fit just tap in shotgun sling swivels hope this helps good luck

  13. Hello has anybody got a front swivel plate with screws for a 16 bore Sauer shotgun or some think that will fit thank you all the best
  14. Hello I have a J.P.Sauer 12 bore made about 1960 cheek piece on stock these were made in the east of Germany long before the wall came down if it was made pre-war its a good German gun the proof marks will tell this most were made after the war like mine and are in fact very much in many way a Baikal even down to the fore end catch in saying this they are very well made and should with a bit of love and care last longer than most mine I use for pigeon all year round I have opened the chokes out but on a 16 they need to be a bit tight because of the smaller bore cartridge load about 28--30 grams your sounds like one of the better ones being a side plate try and post some pic of the proof marks please I all so own a 1939 German sault&berger of Hamburg re-proof in 1971 all the best hope this helps
  15. Hello I bet that's the best £50 you have spent for a long time the farmers drinks must have been over half of the cost well done on the pigeons don't worry about the pheasant I have see people miss with a 12 and 36 gram loads and I think you will get more 16s but never forget your first all the best mate keep your powder dry ( oh yes I have shot pigeons with black powder come down ready cooked sometimes )
