  1. Thanks for all the well wishes. The police contacted my doctor for an assessment on me. according to the feo it didn't make for good reading but because I had been open from the start they were satisfied that if I had another episode of depression I would do the same thing and he was happy to give my licence back.
  2. Well guys today has been a good day I got my licence and guns back although it took 2 months rather than one but I've got them back all the same
  3. I'm' aware I posted on a public forum and I've said what has been told to me by various organisations maybe I am being overly optimistic on the timescales but that's what I've been told
  4. Andrewluke if you are looking for an argument you have came to the wrong post. I was given advice and acted on it end of story if you have nothing constructive to say stop posting
  5. I consulted basc asking for advice and followed their advice. the timescale of 1 month was stated by the police not myself... it could be well off or it might not be... hopeully the latter. as previously stated I'm in no way a danger to myself or anyone else but after speaking to basc it's a standard protocol by the police. If I never handed them in come renewal time it will flag up I have/had depression and not notified them deeming me untrustworthy
  6. I was advised that the police wouldn't let anyone keep guns and licence until they were satisfied I'm safe to be in possession after putting my guns in storage and speaking to the police because I have been pro active and notified them it has a massive impact when I try and get my licence back... even though going a walk round the farm with my gun is a major coping strategy they have to err on the side of caution
  7. Hey guys just a heads up I have been signed off work with depression.. after chatting to a mate he mentioned asking basc for some advice which I did. They advised putting my guns into storage and notify the police which I duly did. The police then came and collected my licence. I can' fault them with regards to their attitude and helpfulness towards me... they reckon I'll be able to get them within the next month if I'm feeling better. So what I'm basically saying is don' be scared to talk about your problems or seek medical advice it' just a blip that can be sorted out
  8. Sorry should have stated I handed my shotguns into my RFD for safe storage but the police were the ones that said they would come and collect my licence ?
  9. Thanks for the reply handed my guns into rfd today for storage and surrendered my licence to the police fao thinks because I was pro active I should have no problem in getting them back at a later date
  10. Just joined this forum and this is my first post. I have recently been signed off work with depression and put on anti depressants.was also drinking far too much but have stopped that now. Basc have given the advice that I should hand my guns over to a friend or surrender them to police. Even though going shooting is a release for me
  11. Hi mate I'm from West Lothian as well 👍👍
