You can put a diopter on anything you want, I've got a FWB 300SU it's a lot of fun for plinking and folk have put scopes on them, but they are low powered guns, because they are 10mtr target guns.

Plenty of lads have TXs, Pro Sports, 97s which run smoothly but they'll have been polished and fettled.

Hey, put my gun away, I don't want it getting scratched...😁

I never seem to find any mess from peanuts,  not even the red shell, but sunflower seeds are a great indicator.

I was out bright and early this morning,  I didn't have much choice.

I'd checked the camera last Friday and it only had 30 pictures,  taking two at a time, by the time I went back Monday evening it was up to 288!

With squirrels on the feeder from 5:30 then pretty much all day, with two's and three's showing up.

    Game on!!!

So as usual for this wood, I set up last night,  struggled to get the brolley in the ground because its so hard and was back in there this morning at 5:45.

As I walked in there was a squirrel waiting for me, and it just sat there! I got my sticks and gun out, put my hand in my pocket and didn't have any mags 😱😱 I'd tapped my pocket and heard/felt the rattle but it was the little box of extra pellets.

So I walked the two minutes back to the car 🤣🤣 ( I deserve this some of the places I end up) then back and shot squirrel number 1, probably 5:55

It was then an hour and a half of squirrels coming from behind and in front of me, a few were within bayonet range, but they just scrabbled past to the feeder.

A couple just went straight up, some were a bit nervous as the numbers mounted,  some stayed on the floor, only the last one took an age to commit and start eating,  six side on shots and one through the crown, I saw every pellet exit as the dust kicked up behind the shot squirrels looking like a miss, except for the twitching squirrel on the floor, only the crown shot didn't exit, that will no doubt be in the body somewhere.

I got up and cleared the bodies,  one more did come in, but it skirted the area completely and kept on going.  I gave it half an or so then decided to pack up, but while I was waiting it turned into a scene from the Birds, the field outside the wood was suddenly covered in Rooks and Gulls  , no idea why, they were in and out, landing then off again? Probably lasted ten minutes then they were gone.

I know some folk question taking pictures of the quarry we shoot, but I'm now splitting the squirrels into Male and Female,  even adults and kits because it makes keeping my records straight much easier.

5 males 2 females, all mature animals so I've no idea where there coming from?

And just for fun, here are the dogs guarding a bag of squirrels when I dropped them off.

Bloody good going mate, I'll say it again did you get them with a 177 and did you get any over 10yds and any gut shots....just asking 😉

  3. Sorry I've got to say something....I have fished the river Wyre for over 40 odd years and I know every bit of the river upstream for at least 4miles and down stream up to Cartford Bridge. Now where she went supposedly went in the water is about 12-14ft deep and its a still moving bit of water, a back eddy to effect so if she drowned there her body would of sank and stopped there....in theory...to get into the flow you have to get at least half way across the river. After the deep bit it shallows up for 40-50 yards to about 4ft then it hits another bend where it deepens off again to about 6ft then the pace picks up again to the weir. Now someone said on here the body wouldn't get over the weir, their wrong, it is a strong flow. What I haven't heard is was the river Brock searched which joins the Wyre about 250yds upstream of where she supposedly went In. You would struggle to get a search boat up there but it is navigable by wading she could of easily gone up there on her own or been forced no-one will ever know. Another thing is above the weir for the past 3 weeks the river has been low it hasn't rained much until Friday when the river started to rise and the amount of flood water could easily dislodge anything. Now the **** bit, my daughter and her partner and my granddaughter live in St Michael's about 250 yards away from the bridge that goes over the Wyre they have been harassed by total ********* from tv media, newspaper reporter's to so called amateur Sherlock Holmes sleuth's climbing over their back garden fence searching for Nicola swearing at my daughters partner for saying get out of the garden. Now he's a bit more laid back than me still a big lad like but me I would of torn them a new ********. The police at first not wanting my daughter's cctv then come grovelling for it after a week saying they are looking at things differently now. The way the police handled the case in that first week was a shambles in my eyes but others will say differently. I have a lot more to say but my arthritis in my fingers is doing my head in that's all for now

Hello, I've been on the AGF many many years and found it ok but the last few years there have been changes that many members found a bit OTT but some mods did not like expressing your views so quite a few were banned, some mods could be quite aggressive , stupid really as it is only a public forum for anyone interested in Air Rifle shooting, Shotgun and FAC, the only advice I could give if there's a new forum proposed is choose your mods wisely ,

    Spot on mate

Another two from the same feeder this morning.

I’m going to make one of my larger feeders today which should keep them busy for a week.

Pity you didn't make bigger feeders for MSW

Hello, just buy some ciggy filters soaked in white spirit

👍 I would only clean a new air rifle barrel, and I now use LT 1 pellet lube, well for the last 10 years, cheaper and better than Napier

    +1

  7. Well nipped out for a couple of hours this week....well 4 hours actually....feeder wasn't totally empty,  set up and ready for 6.30, at 8.20 first one turned up ran straight past the feeder ran around for 10mins then stopped still just long enough for me to slip a shot off nailing it at the back of the ear as it was facing away from me. Another hour passed then another came from my right ran straight to the feeder picked a bit of grain up facing me straight on, it was the last thing it did, with it facing me straight on it was a formality.....love those type of shots. At 10.30 after i had finished my flask i decided to pack up but just as i put the gun down another sprinted in and sat at the bottom of the tree where my feeder is placed, looked at me in the hide flicked its tail, another face on shot down it went. I saw another in the background running round like Usain Bolt but it didn't come anywhere near so that was that. I took some pics of the face on shots just to show how little blood there is....cheers

    Mick
